And my goodness they do that too. But these are always so comfy as well and that's worth a great deal more than you'll pay :) it's lovely. And the staff are so kind and unobtrusive, they let you get on with things or will become a little more chatty if they see you'd like some help. I hope I'm not alone in getting a little flushed and flustered when there's someone watching over you whilst trying shoes on... But these guys leave you to it, in a comfy leather chair until you stand in front of one of of many helpful full length mirrors. (so you don't have to cavort around an entire lap of the shop in shoes that aren't (yet) your own and are so embarrassed you can't really tell whether you like the shoes). They will last. They look great. And the shop is so pleasant I wouldn't go anywhere else.

You don't always notice it but those little balancing acts are hard to do- so credit to this shop! The women's section stocks Marimmeko dresses in fabulous prints, Orla Kiely clothing and accessories in more great prints, Cath Kidston accessories in more great prints! Cath Kidston extends into the kid's section with her polka dots and cowboy prints. They have camper shoes for mother's and soft flannel toys for the kid's and Linum fabrics for the house. Very nice.

They person who does the buying for the Laurels is obviously into patterns, as they stock a lot of Orla Kiely stuff, Cath Kidson homeware and Marimekko clothing. Personally I find Orla Kiely patterns a bit blobby, and Cath Kidson a bit too twee, but if you like that look then this place is great. It is certainly a stark contrast to shops like Flint who go in for the 'any colour as long as it is a variation of off white' look. The stock, being branded, isn't particularly cheap (the Marimekko dresses were around £150, despite being very simple designs), but the fact that they sell lots of little bits and pieces means this would probably be a good place to look for presents for mums/kids, etc.

As you can tell from the highlighted prices, you have to pay for the quality here, you'll struggle to find any bargains. None the less, the product is a good one.

Clarks shops are basically the same all over the UK so there are no surprises - you'll find a great…read morerange of sturdy kids shoes (and adults too, but we always go here mainly for the kids !)but the prices are relatively high. You do get what you pay for though. The staff are friendly and competent, they know how to put the children at ease and are quite happy to spend time measuring feet and checking sizes. Unlike some shops, if they haven't got the right size, they'll send you away empty handed rather than trying to fob you off with the nearest size they do have. The ticket system is handy to avoid stressful queuing as it can get busy.
