Our very favorite section was the boardwalk and the duck pond (the former traverses the latter). There's also a very nice cafe in the middle of the park; the interior is light-filled & a good size, and there are also lots of tables & benches for outdoor seating. We didn't eat there, but the food looked really good and they had lots of tempting-looking dessert items. Also, the people working behind the counter seemed very friendly. The park is quite popular with people living nearby; there were huge numbers of dog walkers, people walking with their young children, and some bike riders. Of course, it was a Saturday - but still....another nice thing is that the park is beautifully-maintained.

We spent a few hours walking around the park yesterday and we really enjoyed it. Our very favorite…read moresection was the Sexby Garden; it's rather large and the various types of flowers are beautiful. There's a Japanese garden which doesn't have any elements that distinguish it, but the pond is pretty. There's a large lake in the park with many geese, ducks & other water fowl, and it was really fascinating watching them. Also, many people were walking dogs and/or bringing their babies or young children for walks throughout the park and we had some pleasant/brief conversations with several people.

Peckham Rye park is great, there is plenty of grass for games as well as a gated area with japanese…read moregarden and play areas. There are also loads of parakeets living in the trees here which means there is a flurry of green in the summer and a lot of squawking! There are various play areas, one close to the cafe for toddlers and younger children as well as an adventure playground further into the park. There is also a skate area for skaters and skateboarders. The gardens are really pretty with lots of nice flower arrangements. The park is close to local bars and makes for a nice afternoon walk. There are running clubs at weekends outside the cafe.

Very child-friendly - its always filled with kids running around on the weekends. There's a lake in the middle of the park. You'll be hard pressed to find a more lively and kid-friendly park in the area!

This is such a beautiful little park - another hidden gem in Lewisham. It was recently refurbished…read more- to quote the website A successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Board has enabled the restoration of the gardens and its built facilities. Works included the re-establishment of the original vistas from the Manor House, the introduction of a walled flower garden, the restoration of the lake and installation of a fountain. In addition the original ice-house has been restored and is open to the public on request. Other new features include a popular cafeteria, multi-sports ball court and tennis courts as well as a children's playground. It's truly lovely - great playground, a wonderful cafe that also sells handmade wooden toys, a farmer's market every first Sunday of the month and a lovely duckpond. Perfect for riding bikes and scooters. The cafe is situated right next to the playground so the grown ups can sip cappucino while watching the little uns on the swings, slides and climbing frames. Also recommend the crepes - yummy! I can't believe it's took me so long to find it. A real gem.

Bar none, this is the best park for a lazy weekend picnic in London…read more Pick up some food and wine from the M&S Simply Food around the corner in More London, set up shop under the shade of a tree overlooking Tower Bridge and watch the world go by on the Thames. When you run out of wine, pop over to the Krystals convenience shop on Tower Bridge Road (just walk up the steps on the east side of Tower Bridge and head south) - they have loads on offer, all pre-chilled and reasonably priced. There are also pay-for toilets nearby if you need them or you can be a degenerate and use the one at the Starbucks in Shad Thames without buying anything - but you might have to wait in the queue of shame.

I cannot describe how happy…read moreI was, the first time I got lost jogging and stumbled upon this gorgeous maze of pretty paths and perfect puppy (or rabbit) walking areas! There are sections of wilderness and mini nature reserves to encourage wildlife...along with larger green areas (perfect for picnics) and even a hill that looks over Canary Wharf, the city and gives fantastic views all the way over to the London eye! There are entrances to the woodland from all sides; near Greenland docks, from several spots along the Thames pathway, near Canada Water station and from all the surrounding suburban-ish housing that surrounds it. Kids and dogs that live in this area are really lucky to have such a fun place to play! Highlights: * Stave Hill - the artificial hill in the middle of the woodlands with fantastic views over London. It's a good place to watch the sun rise or set. We watched the Tornado and Eurofighter from up here during the Royal wedding in 2011. * Rabbit walking(!) - A couple of times when I have met friends here for a picnic, we have seen someone walking their pet rabbit in the park. It is sooo cute! * Paths to wander around and get lost in - There are loads of teeny paths through the woodlands which make this a fantastic place to explore. I don't think I have ever been through the same way twice!

This is the best kept secret in London. So much so, that even many local residents don't know about…read morethis park, hidden away in the leafy Rotherhithe peninsula. So what's so special about Russia Dock Woodland? The history, where this whole area served as the London docks, accepting imports from across Europe, and the world. During the war, this area was pretty badly hit and was eventually redeveloped as a mid-density residential area. But Rotherhithe, a very underrated part of London, is slap-bang in between the glistening skyscrapers or Canary Wharf and the hustle-bustle of London Bridge. For whatever reason, Rotherhithe managed to carve itself as a quiet, scenic and pretty part of the city, where rental prices haven't quite veered into the ridiculous. The centre of this peninsula is filled up with Russia Dock Woodland, or as it's also known, Stave Hill Ecological Park. It's very easy to get lost in here, but it won't be long before you work out your bearings - there are docks all around the park, and the centre of the woodland boasts it's 'piece de resistance'. Stave Hill. After all the rubble had been gathered together, it was all dumped into an artificial hill, which became Stave Hill. And this unique location means you're right between Canary Wharf, and the City of London. Climb the steps up this hill, to be afford one of the best views anywhere in the city. And there's even a great iron-wrought model of the local area. And the best part? This isn't a tourist honeytrap. It's not even overrun with locals. Most the time when you come up here, it'll be completely empty, and you'll be King of the Hill!
