I was pretty hungry as well, and without even looking at the menu, I spotted a dish that another guy was eating so I just pointed to it and asked the server if I could have what that guy was eating. She was really nice and made sure I had a full, fresh glass at all times. My dish resembled a shake 'n bake pork chop, but the best shake 'n bake pork chop anyone has ever had. A side of potato salad and a tub of mustard complemented it just right. It was very low-key when I came in, but it looked like a great place to party.

This place was so cool! It was just down the block from our place, so we decided to check it out…read more First off- this is definitely a locals bar. We were the only ones speaking english, and about 90% of the people in there were 55+. Which we actually loved, because it was still so lively and high energy! It seems like almost all of the people in there know each other and are good friends. The seating is community style, so they will just sit you wherever there is a spot. We sat with 3 other people at a small round table. The place was packed, so we were lucky to get a seat. Maybe that was because of the soccer game, but either way it is not a large place, so I could see that being the norm. The waitress will very quickly come around with some Kolsch beer, and mark your coaster for every drink you get (they will just keep bringing them until you say stop). It seems like that is all they really serve- I did not see one single other type of beer/drink being served. They serve it in smallish glasses, so it stays fresh and cold. They have one menu with about 12 different choices. I asked a local what he recommended, and he did not disappoint. We got a fried pork chop with potatoes and salad, and a sausage with a carrot/potato mash, and brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious, and the portions were plenty large. For 2 dinners and 5 beers, we paid about 25 euros. Not bad at all considering the quality, portion sizes, and friendly service. I would definitey check this place out if you are looking for a non touristy place with local charm. Oh and I would have taken a picture, but I didn't want to make myself stick out as a tourist more than I already did haha!

When I was traveling to Rome last year, I discovered that the beer brand has bars in a bunch of countries (mostly Europe). To my surprise, I stumbled upon this location in Cologne. There was no way I was going to leave Germany without a visit. Service (5/5): I stopped by around 10:30 p.m. on a Monday night. The bartender was awesome. He's American, so we chatted about his immigration to Germany. He offered samples, let me go behind the bar to take a closer look at the bottled beers, and didn't rush us when closing time arrived. Service the way it should be. Ambiance (4.5/5): Delirium Cafe is a chill bar. Pretty much what you would want a beer bar to look like. Delirium signage in a bunch of places, and a good amount of seating. This location is much smaller than the one I visited in Rome, but it's cozy. Food (N/A): The Rome location has a full menu. No food here. But you can bring food from outside. There's a pizza spot on the same street, so I grabbed some takeout from there and had a glorious pizza + beer combo. Drinks (5/5): I mean it's my favorite beer after all. In addition to Delirium Tremens, they have three other Delirium varieties on tap, including Delirium Red, which is delicious. There are two other brands made by Delirium which I tried too. This was a nice surprise. A perfect end to an evening in Cologne.
