First and foremost, the ladies who run this place are an absolute treat! Not only are they keen for a yarn but they are full of handy hints (e.g. the best picnic stops) and make a mean espresso! This was our first stop on our second leg from Omakau to Oturehua. We arrived at around 10am and the smell of freshly brewed coffee was too much to resist. And just as well - the ladies informed us there were no more stops until Oturehua (a 4 hour cycle) so if we wanted lunch we need to order it there. Armed with 4 large vege-packed sandwiches and instructions for a shady spot to stop (it got up to 36 degrees that day) we hit the road again!
