The toilets are used for smoking and taking drugs--quite apart from the fact that they reek of every bodily excretion the human body can produce. Clientele: The crowd comes across as rather unkempt and off-putting. Almost all the patrons are over 50, and many won't accept "no", which the staff also tolerate--meaning that, in the worst case, you're left to deal with it on your own. If you don't have a fetish for old, unwashed men who at the very least skirt the line of sexual coercion and harassment, you can give this place a miss with a clear conscience. Staff: The bouncer is racist and only lets in what he considers "proper men". If you look too androgynous--or if you're a trans man--you're rudely turned away. The cloakroom staff are overwhelmed and often hand out the wrong belongings. In general, the staff are very unfriendly, unhelpful, and arrogant. A systematic scam: When I was there with my boyfriend, we asked at the start whether we could share one tab card, since we would be paying together anyway. The staff member said it was no problem and gave us a single card. When we later went to pay--at the same staff member--he disingenuously asked for the second card. We explained that he had only given us one and that this had been agreed with him. He immediately said that if we didn't pay a €50 penalty fee for "losing" the second card, he would call the police. Conclusion: Filthy, low-class, and an out-and-out scam. Sauberkeit: Die Bar ist in einem Ausmaß schmutzig und ungepflegt, dass man beim Laufen einen deutlichen Wiederstand durch den klebrigen Boden merkt, die Toiletten werden zum Rauchen und Konsumieren von Drogen genutzt, mal abseits davon, dass sie nach allen Ausscheidungen, die der menschliche Körper produzieren kann, stinken. Klientel: Das Publikum wirkt recht ungepflegt und abstossend... Beinah alle Gäste sind über 50 Jahre alt und viele akzeptieren kein "Nein", was vom Personal auch geduldet wird, wodurch man im schlimmsten Fall auf sich gestellt ist. Wenn man keinen Fetisch für alte, undgepflegte Männer hat, die die Grenze zur sexuellen Nötigung und Beslästigung mindestens entlangschreiten, kann diese Resterampe guten Gewissens auslassen. Personal: Der Türsteher ist rassistisch und lässt nur, in seinen Augen, "ganze Männer" rein, wenn man zu androgyn oder sogar ein Trans*Mann ist, wird man unfreundlich weggejagd. Die Garderobe ist überfordert und gibt oft falsche Kleidungsstücke raus. Generell ist das Personal sehr unfreundlich, nicht hilfsbereit und arrogant. Betrug mit System: Als ich mit meinem Freund dort war, haben wir am Anfang gefragt, ob wir uns eine Karte, auf der die Drinks vermerkt werden, teilen können, da wir eh zusammen zahlen würden. Der Mitarbeiter sagte, dass es kein Problem sei und händigte uns eine Karte aus. Als wir, beim selben Mitarbeiter, später zahlen wollten, fragte er scheinheilig nach der zweiten Karte. Wir erklärten ihm, dass wir anfangs doch von Ihm nur eine Karte erhielten und es doch mit ihm abgesprochen gewesen sei. Er meinte sofort, wenn wir nicht 50 Euro Strafgebühr, wegen dem Verlust der zweiten Karte, zahlen würden, würde er die Polizei rufen. Fazit: Dreckig, niveaulos und eine einziger Scam!

That's an added bonus for some. Drinks generous, standard Köln prices (read: not cheap), speedy service on a very full night. Still not liking it though, not my scene, way too tacky.

The schnitzel was tender and tasty; the fries, crisp and delicious. I can't say enough about how friendly the owners and staff are. They don't speak much English, we don't speak much German, but that never gets in the way of a good time. I'm not sure why this place is labelled a "dive bar." It's not. It's a classic, cozy, family-run Kolsch restaurant with traditional food. It's delicious, affordable, and very friendly.

The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful when it came to explaining dishes that were in German on the menu. We ended up ordering the Currywurst and the cheese filled Schnitzel. WOW. They were probably the best of their kind that I've ever had. The currywurst was delicious and had just the right amount of curry in it. The schnitzel was filled with camembert cheese, cranberry sauce on the side, and a lovely fresh salad with a home made olive-oil based dressing. There were 3 of us and we were beyond full after sharing the two dishes above; the cheese filled schnitzel was sizable and very filling! If I ever am back in Cologne, I will be sure to visit this place again, and I can safely say that this was the best meal of my entire trans-Europe vacation (included Belgium, Amsterdam, and Germany) :) Thank you for the delicious food and hospitality!
