A great team, timely and efficient, and I would recommend them to anyone needing a full smart home solution that will scale into the future. After a 35 year career in Silicon Valley I moved into a larger house near the beach 3 years ago. Since my career was mostly based on wireless technology, all our internet and networking needs in our previous home had been met with wireless for many many years. I had always told my wife wireless was the future since the early 1990's. When I told her we now need to wire up she flipped as if I told her I didn't like living at the beach anymore (which I also always talked about for many a previous years). But the size of our new home, and our needs for greater bandwidth helped me realize the future now must be a fully wired home. Sure Wifi works great for basic needs on a laptop, smart phone or tablet, and for the Internet of things such as a smart doorbell, thermostat or speaker. But in odd shaped large homes such as ours, you must have multiple access points all connect via ethernet cables (forget about WiFi extenders and powerline, they are band-aid short term solutions at best). The inherent interference and range problems of wireless are starting to feel the pains of the law of diminishing returns as we require more more more. We have 4 smart TV's, without a dedicated ethernet connection, they would suck WiFi, while providing inconsistent streaming. Our cable modem/router was located in our master bedroom because that was where the only coax cable outlet was in the house. An eyesore, and I also have a multimedia server and high end workstations (I do a lot of video processing) which added to the eyesoreness. When I found Starlight, Mike promptly came out and we surveyed the house while I discussed my needs and wishes. A day later he sent me the plan and a quote. 1) Relocate Coax Cable For Modem/Router to central closet Install PoE Switch 2) Run CAT6A Cable From central closet through Attic to location of devices, Terminate on RJ45 Keystone Jack, VCE White Faceplate, Test, Label 3) Run CAT6A Cable from our central Closet To WiFi Access Point Locations 4) Install, Setup, Test 802.11ac Dual-Radio WiFi Access Points Within a week they came to install and were done within a day and a half. It was a lot of work, a few of the locations I wished for were very hard to access, but these guys came through like the pros they are. There were minimal disruptions, and a lot fewer holes in the walls to patch up than I had feared. When we finally get around to justifying replacing our current TVs with Ultra 8K HD or better in a few years, we'll be ready. read more

I had a fantastic experience using Mike and his team. My house was built in 1965, and I had hacked together a network years ago in most rooms. Had modem/router in heater closet. Was happy with it. Then came covid and I was working from home. I needed more speed as my work is very data intensive. So I had ethernet wires running down the hall, held in place with masking tape. I had Mike move my modem and router to new location, then routed CAT6A to all rooms, drop a new circuit from my whole house battery backup, and set an additional WIFI Access node POE. They were on time, fast, and thorough. Completed the job in less than a day. Didn't have to open any walls other than were the ethernet plates are mounted. Mike was a really great contractor to work with. He responded super promptly, came out to my new house quickly and made some great suggestions to save some time and money on my job. I ended up getting Cat 6a wiring put in with a wireless extender and even though mike did the job weeks before I moved in and had internet service hooked up, he did not bill me until he had a chance to come back and fully test the work he did with my ISP installer there. Overall I think the job was a bit more expensive than it might have been elsewhere based on a few other quotes I got, Mike was definitely the most responsive, helpful, and they seemed to have the best commitment to quality of anyone I spoke with, which is big to me.
