Bodafon Farm Park is located at the back of Bodafon Fields, which is the greenbelt area between the…read moreeastern edge of Llandudno and the Little Orme. Access is via a rough and ready trail off Nant-y-Gamar Road. Admission these days is free, which you can't complain about, although there are charges for some activities such as pony or tractor rides but these are very reasonable. You can also purchase bags of food to feed the animals. The farm park is precisely what you might imagine a farm park should be with a few extras. You'll find a collection of all the usual suspects including cows, sheep, horses, goats, chickens, ducks and an enormous fat pig called Boris. Less expectedly you'll find deer, llamas, a rhea and a kookabura named Sheila. You can explore the park on foot or take a guided tour on a tractor. The park is also the home of the North Wales Bird Trust where you can visit their bird of prey display. This is great if you like owls as they have a collection of owls of all sizes and from all corners of the planet. There isn't much other than the owls so if you don't like owls you might be disappointed! The park also has a kids play area and a courtyard crammed full of pedal powered tractors. There's also a very nice cafe and bar with an outdoor courtyard which now has a wood fired pizza oven. There's also a function room which is licenced for weddings. Personally I enjoyed my visit although living in a semi-rural area there wasn't much of a novelty for me in seeing cows and sheep in fields. However the kids had a great time and I could imagine that anyone who lives in an urban area would love to get close up with the animals. All in all an enjoyable couple of hours, especially given that admission is free.

The name on the entrance reads, Dinorban Arms Arrived here right after church on Sunday, and there was a small but steady crowd. This village isn't a big place. I decided to stay in the bar area and order a sandwich, instead of waiting for the dining room to open, which I'm sure was much more crowded. The pace is as one would expect for a lazy, Sunday afternoon on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. The bartender had loads of character, filled with a pleasant mix of humor, charm and compassion. Ordered a tuna sandwich with a decaf tea. Unfortunately, his wife wasn't keen on decaf tea. He had had a box of it for quite some time, but they tried it, and decided decaf tea was one of the most vile things on the planet. And I don't believe he's alone in his sentiment. He and the bar had a wide selection of teas which would make any modern-day tea lover joyous. Green tea, herbal fruit teas, Earl Grey, etc. Though wishing for decaffeinated, because of the lack of sleep I've been experiencing, I opted for the English Breakfast tea. I'm in the UK. Must have my traditional tea with cream. He affirmed the choice, since he'd consumed cups of it already throughout the day. When the tuna sandwich arrived, to my surprise, it was more like two sandwiches, both cut in triangles. The idea of wrapping up half of the triangles seemed a good idea, but I was pretty hungry from having fought hard driving around trying to find one of several hard-to-find Druid sites on the Isle of Anglesey. A fun place to go thanks to the bartender, and it serves traditional British meals.

Tros Yr Afon is a cluster of self-catering holiday accommodation cottages in Beaumaris, Anglesey…read moreand was the location for the wedding of close friends. Originally a manor house and farm buildings built in the early part of the 19th century - they are set around a pretty, gravelled courtyard. Ty Mawr, the Manor House (which sleeps 18) is grand and spacious whereas the cottages are more rustic and cosy sleeping between 2-8 people. It really was the perfect place for a wedding, as the huge gardens easily accommodated a large tepee where the reception was held. The weather was glorious for the entire weekend, so the ceremony itself was held on the lawn in front of the Manor House and then drinks were served in the courtyard whilst photos were being taken. It was fantastic to have a self-contained large space to celebrate well into the night/morning. Most of the cottages have their own private gardens but there are also the woods to explore and a large trampoline (yes, we went on that after quite a few beers). Their land spreads to some six acres in total, including a tennis court. The local pebble beaches are only a short walk and quaint Beaumaris town is just over two miles away. There are a number of good cafes, restaurants and pubs here. We couldn't get over how truly gorgeous this place was; we're hoping their wedding anniversary parties will return here!

A load of holiday cottages all surrounding a main house - it's the perfect place to hold a big celebration, wedding etc and with us and a load of others taking over the whole compound for 4 days it really felt great to be in such an enclosed but spacious place. The ceremony took place around the back of the house, the garden had a large enough area for a giant tipi taking over 100 guests and the front was great for a reception. Lovely fauna and foliage - this place was the great and we even got some sun - nice work James ;-) A 5 min drive from Beaumaris, probably a lot longer to walk up and down hill - a real hidden gem and with it only being 2 hours drive from Manchester is perfect for a weekend or longer away!

Note to ownership - You have an elite team in place at this establishment who are all very passionate about what they do and it shows. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and offered a breathtaking view of the beach -- waking up to that each morning was such a treat. What truly set this hotel apart, however, was the staff. Every single person we encountered took such clear pride in what they do, and it showed in the warm, attentive, and genuinely caring service we received from start to finish. They really MADE our trip. The on-site restaurant was equally impressive, serving stunning food that was both beautifully presented and full of flavour -- easily among the best meals we've had while travelling. When you are in Wales ...there is nothing to do but enjoy the beautiful scenery...take that away…read moredue to nasty weather, and you will struggle to find ways to entertain yourself. Luckily I heard of this place. Situated near Llandberis and down a long windy 5 mph road is this gorgeous farm house. Strangely enough their website is poor..yes we know it's a place to stay..but did you know that anyone can pay £8 to use the sauna and pool? Or even better £19.95 to use the pool, sauna AND enjoy a two course meal after? So we arrived around 11am while the kids were off school and was greeted by the lovely receptionist who id spoken to via the phone previously. After checking in, we were provided towels and directions how to reach the pool. The changing rooms were TINY..one small cubicle, a sink and a fold down baby chance unit..stalk like I had to balance on one leg to undress while trying to remove my knickers..without dropping my clothes on the sodden floor!! Annoyance cast aside we went to the sauna while the pool quietened down . Both sauna and pool were not the largest but did the job. After RE dressing we walked into the restaurant where we were informed it was busy. Graciously a waiter led us to a quiet conservatory where we could eat privately. The menu consisted of veggie risottos, steaks, seafood and other posh pub grub. We all chose the eggs Benedict with smoked haddock for starters, for mains I had the seafood tagliatelle , while my mom and sis chose the fish and chips. The starter arrived promptly, well seasoned cooked and perfect presentation...but we were left for awhile afterwards , no one checked about our situation or our meal.. Mains arrived in good proportion, however mine was very weighed down with mayonnaise like sauce..the girls enjoyed their hand cooked chips and lightly battered fish . Overall for £20 each for a swim, sauna, and two course meal I find this ideal. But why not advertise this on their website?? Also they need to increase their changing room size..and slightly modernise it all.

In general the building seems well maintained, but some of the public areas were being patched and re-painted whilst I was there. My room was spacious and comfortable with free DVD movie rental which is a nice touch. The cooked breakfast was better than most, although 3 staff members were chatting loudly by the entrance which is unacceptable at the level they are trying to pitch, although the rest of the time they were generally very good. Bar snacks are good, but the food and drinks are relatively expensive: expect dinner in the restaurant to cost £30+ per head. Overall though I'd return: especially if I wanted a quiet nice weekend away with a friend. It is a lovely quiet, calm rural location.
