Neubrandenburg--the capital of the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte--has preserved in its entirety its medieval city wall dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries. The wall, 7m high and with a perimeter of 2.3 km, has four impressive Brick Gothic city gates, one tower, and many classic lattice-timbered houses built into the wall for the custom officials that monitored (and taxed) Neubrandenburg's trade.
