It's not as outstanding as the original 2 locations, which are over 100 years old. But it's still good at this one... Had their famous Lechero coffee. AND their canillas, which is unique to La Parroquia. Other places sell canillas. But not like these. These melt in mouth when you take a bite. They're fantastic and are the perfect match to go with the Lechero coffee.

I first came across this cafe about three years ago when they were at a different location in town. All the coffee that they serve is natural, shade-grown in the valleys of Zongolica, and the roasted coffee beans are also available for purchase. I visit about once a day during the week, and I honestly seriously regret that they are not open on the weekends yet although the owner is talking about extending the hours. Hopefully that will happen soon! There is WiFi available here and the seats are very comfortable. This is also indeed a good place to relax and get some studying or laptop work done. We ended up with 5 or 6 different roasts. They smelled great at the shop, but had to wait to return from our trip to try them. We enjoyed all of them, even though I usually much prefer a dark roast. The only dark roast they seemed to have was the cubano and it is fantastic! The French roast, while it isn't really dark, is good too. It looks like they only ship within Mexico, so need to work something out in Tijuana since we're just across the border.

I returned to Coatepec this month for a visit and brought back a kilo of La Onza Cubano. I wish I could have brought more. The owners are always gracious and helpful. And they always remembered how I liked my coffee ground. It's a special place with great coffee.
