This is my favorite Starbucks in Stockholm by far. It's comfortable, has lots of seating, a decent amount of electrical outlets for your laptop and, of course, they have wifi too! I think this location is a lot less crazy busy than the others (in the train station, Gallerian and especially the one at the Mall of Scandinavia ....yikes!) so it's easy to get some work in here when I don't feel like sitting at my desk. While a Starbucks is not the most glamorous of settings to sit in for a long period of time, it is very practical compared to most cafe's i've tried to sit in with a laptop. I think I might like the nearby espresso house's coffee maybe a bit better, but it is always PACKED full and has somewhat uncomfortable seating if your trying to get any work done. That seems to be the case with a lot of the better cafes in the area that i've tried.
I'm not that much of a coffee snob, so a "grande soya latte" here hits the spot every time. Have I had way better coffee other places? Most definitely, yes! In a big city anywhere in the US and especially Europe there are way better coffee places than this times a million. However, I really don't drink that much coffee. If I did, I might be a bit more choosy, but if your like me, Starbucks is just fine. It's not great, but it's not too bitter either. It's a suburban American Mcdonalds-like chain coffee joint. What were you expecting? Maybe i'm just too used to the junk. I'm pretty sure they put a Starbucks grande latte in my baby bottle once or twice, being a kid from the suburbs myself. ;)
On another note, I have to say that the staff are what really make this location great! Friendly, talkative, helpful... all the good things you want the people to be like in your local coffee shop! It's not an episode of Friends or anything, but they were all pleasant. Lol.
On a more sour note (or, should I say sweet?), the amount of sugar in some of the mixed drinks here is insane!!! Americans really eat WAY too much sugar per day. The tolerance for this shit is wayyyy higher in the US than here in Sweden. Since i've been eating like a Swede for a few years now, i'm MUCH more sensitive to sugar now. I ordered my first iconic "pumpkin spice latte" here last fall. I had never tried it before! I thought the guy behind the counter pranked me it was so disgusting. Just so totally gross! I was so shocked that I actually asked him how they could serve it like that. He laughed and agreed it wasn't great, but then he recommended that I ask for less "pumps" of the syrup next time. I asked how many pumps they use normally.....guess... FOUR! Four huge, sugary pumps in one little latte cup. WTF! I gave it another try just to see if it had any merit and I can say with one pump of the pumpkin spice syrup it was actually pretty good! It was like having pumpkin pie, carrot cake and a latte all in one glass! I would've totally ordered my one pump winner again, but, unfortunately, an article came up on Refinery29 that said Starbucks was actually going to start using real pumpkin in the ingredients and it totally turned me off. I was like... huh? You mean to tell me that was chemical pumpkin and caramel coloring? You shouldn't hear ingredients like that unless your trying to drink a scented candle or something! EWE! =P =P =P Well, the upside is that this next year it will be chemical free! Lol. ugh. read more
