Its a Starbucks...similar to the countless Starbucks I've been to everywhere from New York City to Mexico City. Fortunately and unfortunately there is a ubiquitous Starbucks location almost everywhere now. I try to patronize the local coffee shops when possible, but there is a dearth of quality (of pretty much anything) in the Shawnee area so I frequent this location. The staff is nice and prompt but sometimes (and this pertains to all Starbucks location) they can be cloyingly annoying and over the top trying to be witty or funny while ordering when all I want is my goddamn green tea! But, this location isn't that bad so when in need of a fix it does in a pinch. read more

I was visiting Shawnee and stopped by this Starbucks for a tea. Starbucks locations don't typically dramatically differ from one another so, in many ways, this was a routine Starbucks visit for me. (I don't visit Starbucks frequently but have been to many throughout the U.S. and abroad over the years.) The place was neatly organized, several employees appeared reasonably friendly and helpful, parking was ample and most everything was well stocked. What I did notice is that two employees were eating and drinking behind the counter and right around customers' orders, another employee touched his face several times and then put his hands into or onto orders (until I respectfully asked him to stop doing that, to wash his hands and to change gloves) and another brought trash through the work area and touched cups without washing his hands. Without these issues, I would have rated the place at three stars but I feel that a two star rating is more accurate based on my personal experience there. I will gladly update if I visit a few more times and have different experiences. I am willing to give it another chance but I will not return a third time if the same practices (or worse) are in place. Normally, I don't review a place based off of one mediocre experience but I think that it is warranted this time because of all of these problems being health and safety related. I hope that others have better experiences than the one I shared. REVIEW EDIT FROM FEB. 2018 VISITS: I am updating this review and moving my star rating from 2 to 3 stars. In February, I visited this location twice and, while there were issues with each visit, the overall experience was better than my first visit each time. On my first visit, the wait was quite significant despite the fact that there were only a handful of people present between the drive through lane and the group inside the store. All people had small orders and we each waited for at least 20 minutes once we were able to place our orders. While waiting for my turn to order, I realized that many of the items for sale (such as cups, mugs and coffee pods) were dusty and probably hadn't been taken care of for at least a few weeks. When I finally did get to the counter, it was clear that the person was rather new and did not know much about prices or using the register. She was, however, very kind and pleasant. We've all been or will be that new person at some point so I was more than happy to wait as she figured things out. She did her best and, while she she struggled to find items and get the order going, her positive attitude made the experience a solid one. Stumbles are fine in my book as long as the effort and positive attitude are there. My second visit went well overall despite having had my order come out incorrectly and the wait being longer than it should have for the number of people in the shop. I noticed that the store was cleaner than it had been during my first two visits and, while the staff struggled to keep up with the orders, they remained pleasant with one another and with customers. One gentleman handed a woman her cold coffee drink with the coffee spilling all over the cup, lid and counter but he was profusely apologetic and instantly made it right. I appreciated the staff diversity and overall customer service efforts. I do not expect a perfect visit each time but I do expect staff members to be trying their best to create a positive experience for customers. Despite the few negatives (including the need for the staff members to learn to work more efficiently), I feel that was achieved with these last two visits. I am not a Starbucks regular but I will definitely be back. If warranted, I will update my review. Thank you. read more

Not sure what is going on here. In the past it was a great store. Today I waited in line 2 different times. The first time the drive up line didn't move for 6 or 7 minutes so I got out of line. I returned about 45 minutes later to a much shorter line. Still moved slow, but it moved. When I got to the window, there were 3 drinks sitting there, but none were my tall flat white (simple drink). I continued to wait. They added another drink to the line of drinks sitting there. Finally a flat white. No sleeve. My sympathies to the ladies working the window. Good thing it's the only Starbucks in town. Get new management. read more

They were fairly friendly, however they were out of ingredients for both of the drinks I ordered. A little disappointing. The drinks didn't taste bad, but we had to do some tweaking to the ingredients. Overall, it was an ok experience. read more

I'm not a big coffee person but I like Starbucks for a visit in Shawnee. The staff is amazing. Could definitely use more seating.

Starbucks is Starbucks, that being said, they should limit the number of coffee drinks the employees can consume during their shifts. I saw who I presumed to be the shift leader intermittently sipping from his own beverage while preparing others. I appreciate wanting to have energy and enthusiasm for your job, I really do, but this kid was obnoxious. He was trying very hard and very rapidly to chit chat with each of his customers. He really put me on edge. I had to get out of there. It was also crawling with OBU "Intellectuals" who are in dire need of some other place to go hang out and scribble in their mole skins. I am glad I have internet in my own home now so that I never have to go there again. read more

I go to the starbuck in shawnee on harrison several times a,week and usually its great but today we waited bout 20 minutes for a Frappuccino and the guy making it was so rude. I usually go through the drive thru but went inside today. The really cater to the drive thru ill never go inside again. That is if i ever go bk. I work with customers all day and would never be rude.They need to talk to there staff bout customer service. And matt should be throwed out. read more

If I could deeply express my countless horribly experiences here, I wouldn't even be able to give them a star... They would be rated in NEGATIVE stars. I understand that businesses get crazy during the holidays but for the last FIVE visits here, there's always something insane and out of the norm. For instance, we always order 1 venti and 1 tall black coffee, that is it. I was asked if a tall black coffee in a venti cup would be fine.... seriously? Odd... Then I was asked if I want my 2 black coffees hot or cold... I understand that make be an option but, are you serious? I think I would have mentioned if I wanted them cold, I would have said iced. But whatever. NEXT, they were out of stoppers when we came to the window, no big deal, they are very convenient but I get it, shipment must be a little late. THEN, yes the list goes on, they ran out of lids for the grande and venti cups so will two talls be ok? Wooowwww, your telling me that you don't have lids for TWO out of THREE sizes of drinks you serve? Come on now, whos ordering the shipment because I think I could have remembered those.. AT LAST we get to tonight, we ordered the norm, waiting ungodly long for just two simple drinks just to pull up to the window to find out that they RAN OUT OF COFFEE!!!!!! Yes, that's right my friends, you read that right..?!?! YOU ARE A COFFEE SHOP FOR CRYING OUT LOUD AND YOU RAN OUT OF WHAT YOU USE TO MAKE (well not all, should be all but not all drinks) YOUR MAIN PRODUCT?!?! As a traveler I've been to a lot of Starbucks.. when ordering a breakfast menu item I've never had this experience before. I ordered a slow roasted ham and Swiss and it came to me like a frozen hockey puck. I feel like somebody forgot to warm it, or tell me that I need to nuke it myself. Brr! Got my drink out fast, but the drink was wrong. They were out of chocolate croissants, and got my tea wrong. It was supposed to be sweet but they gave me unsweet tea. Sorry to say this is one of the dirtiest Starbucks I have visited. The ladies room was nasty and there was debris on the floor throughout the store. There were no spices for the coffee nor were there any stirrers. All this is easily fixable. read more
