When Starbucks moved into the Scappoose Fred Meyer, to say I was excited was a complete understatement. I was a little worried about having a well known coffee shop inside of a grocery store, but for what they are, the employees do a good job. The baristas are friendly, usually they remind me to enjoy my day and ask if I need a sleeve for the warm coffee. After a few visits, the baristas even started remembering my order, though a white mocha is not complex, it saved me some time and made me feel like I was cared for. Though it is located in a grocery store, they have three tables with chairs all around so you can sit while enjoying your coffee, have a chat, or work on some homework. One thing that could be improved is their speed. From what I have seen, there are only two people behind the counter - one for taking orders and one for making coffee. I have been there when they have taken a long time just to get to me at the counter because the cashier helps to make the coffee with the other barista, or there will be times when there is only one person behind the counter. The prices might seem a little high, a usual cup is around $4, but that is the same as most coffee shops around here. The only difference is that they get my order right, whereas other shops have weird tastes or make the same cup completely different each time. To me these faults are far few compared to my great experiences here. This location of Starbucks does a great job at serving drinks with great attitude. I come here time and time again because they are willing to make coffee exactly how you like it, and to fix any errors they might have. There are obviously going to be flaws, but compared to other places I have found these guys to be the best. read more

The decision by Starbucks management to license out the name to such businesses as Fred Meyer (Kroger) and Safeway was quite possibly the worst one the company has made to date. Anytime I see one, I know the quality won't be the same as the company Starbucks stores. I actually feel sorry for the employees who get assigned to this job in the larger Freddy's or Safeway stores where these Starbucks kiosks are located. They try, but they never seem to have received sufficient training to do their jobs properly and are nowhere near the level of skill at them that one would expect to find in a free-standing Starbucks location. As for this location, try to remember that it isn't a proper Starbucks. The clerks work for the larger store not Starbucks itself. Your order might not be correctly understood and therefore might turn out other than you requested. Just try not to take it out on the people working there; they're hamstrung by the bad business decisions of people who make far, far more money than they do. read more

This is the worst Starbucks! The staff there is always more worried about gossiping than acknowledging customers. Every time I've gone, they are more focused on each other or other Fred Meyer employees. Talking about paychecks, schedules personal information, etc. It totally feels like customers are an afterthought. read more

There so incredible slow the three of them will stand there when 2 guests are in line and won't start the next guest. There so slow. Very slow. Usually one person working (or if there are 2, that 2nd person is on break everytime I come in). 6 people in line. Moved one customer in almost 10 minutes. No sense of urgency. Came to this Starbucks for the first time in a few months because my last few visits were agonizing, everyone was very slow and only cared about talking with their co workers and not to their customers. This last visit on a Saturday afternoon was so much better. There was the usual line, which you can expect on a Saturday but they were getting through it as quickly as possible for only having two people. One of the girls didn't really look like she knew what she was doing, I'm hoping she was new and not the usual employee there. The other two, a young man and women behind the counter, were so sweet! The girl was great at getting to know customers and making conversation and I got so caught up in our conversation that I didn't realize she had my coffee ready for me (not to mention I tried the Smoked butter scotch latte, their new drink and she made it perfectly)! Very impressed with the new employees! Will definitely be visiting this Starbucks again instead of making the trip out to st.helens. read more
