I had all intentions on ordering a Caffe Latte upon my arrival. But I needed to 1st go to the men's room. It was about 5pm on Friday Sept 5th. As I politely said I need to use the restroom please. He then said aggressively, "ITS FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY." At that point I no longer felt I should patronize this location. For am a well paid Black man. But it's seems my black dollars aren't welcomed there. I was well dressed and polite and he treat me like I was a bum that didn't have any other choice. Systemic racism is a real thing I experienced it firsthand. If you are African-American, do not go to this location they will make you feel like you was raised with no home training no education. In the end, I briefly spoke to the cashier and voiced how I felt. He was very dry in his apology. And I walked out! read more

Based on the employees here on 12/15/23 at 10:30 AM. The employees are more content with talking to each other than to provide any type of customer service experience. You can hear their personal conversations since that's what they're more focused on. A little professionalism and customer service goes an extremely long way. read more

We went to this Starbucks and they were backed up on their mobile orders so the cashier stated it would take 15-20 minutes extra to get your order. I was in a hurry and so I simply asked for an iced water and a barista stated this would also take 15-20 minutes (in a rude way) due to the glitch in the system. There were 4 workers how does it take 15-20 minutes to get an iced water so ridiculous and disappointing as I'm a huge Starbucks drinker! Had to go to Milk & Honey great service there and the Spanish latte is amazing! Never coming back here again! read more

I can say by far this is the worst Starbucks I have ever been to. That's saying alot considering I have been to every Starbucks In California just about. Let's start with the first issue. Worst tasting coffee I have ever had. I did not think Starbucks could make bad coffee. 2nd there is a security guard there obviously because it must be a bad area. The bathrooms are locked down with codes so I don't feel very secure with a bran muffin purchase. Nope. 3rd and this is a major issue. I don't agree with people who camp at Starbucks any more than perhaps the staff but I would never hold a meeting here or bring a client here that is for sure. All of their plugs are locked down with metal plates like fort nox. It's rather insane. If I were you with the taste of coffee and service and the lockdown of the plugs find any other Starbucks than here. In fact perhaps even a Coffee Bean. This is very very sad and makes me mourn this city and collectively brings me to a place of utter discontent for all those who love and admire Starbucks. The go to place for in the business people who love to spend money all day and dine their clients and friends this place is not. Don't come here. It's really disappointing. This is exactly how you say. We don't like you. We don't really want you here but we would like to have your money. No thank you. read more

Alright so I had left a three star review about half a year ago. The new management is way better and the new baristas are super friendly. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Indigo, they are very stylish and funny. Also Ethan hands me my order to my hand very cool! 10/10. The store is busy so you will wait a bit for your drinks but hey the workers are working hard. read more

Service is horrible. Waited for 2 regular coffees for about 15 minutes while employees chit chat! I would have walked out if I hadn't already paid. The place was dirty too! today's barista was so rude and didn't even want to make eye contact, she might of even been the supervisor but she was so rude and careless. This starbucks was run by two people and very disorganized. I came for the 50% off deal on 10/26 and asked for a nitro cold brew. The cashier told me it was bogo 50% off but I clearly showed her the app which stated that all drinks are 50% off with no terms and she would not honor it. The employees are not aware of their own promotions and should be re-trained. read more

This is one busy Starbuck, and the team here is impeccable. I don't know how they are capable of keeping things running as smoothly as they do but it's like clockwork in there. The employees are always very friendly, that is not why I removed a star. The 4 stars is for the location. I don't know why so many people choose to study at this location. The outside is dirty and crowded and loud. There are also a lot of homeless people walking by begging for money so I don't know how anyone gets their work done. There is space inside to sit but the location is situated in a such a way that no light gets into the room. So it's always super dark. But to each their own. I have never seen a table free at this location so don't plan on leisurely finding a table to enjoy your coffee. You may have to wait for someone to move and then swoop the table quickly. Usually the people in line with me have no idea what to order and take forever. This is clearly not a Starbucks that regular commuters visit. It is mainly for people shopping in the area. I have only been here a few times but I always order my drink 'to go'. This last time I went to buy some gift cards for my employees and they barely had any holidays gift cards left to choose from. Am I really that late in buying the cards?! This was almost a week ago! I just don't think they keep it stocked well. I try to not come here but since it's one of the closer Starbucks to where I live I will probably end up here sometime soon. read more

According to this Yelp it says good for working, but the employee told me that ALL Starbucks no longer have outlets for working so not true. I often work at Starbucks with outlets so may just be the ones that employee worked at. If you are trying to work do not come here. read more

Been here twice in the last week, but have previously been here as well. But now that I'm down in this area a little more regularly, I'm stopping by. So I've ordered the Sick Tea, also known as the Medicine Ball, the last two times with peppermint syrup, and they have failed both times to add it! How simple is adding syrup to a beverage? All I ask for is the beverage I ordered. Unfortunately, both times I received my beverage and took off. I really didn't want to go back just to get the syrup. Service is OK here. Typical standard, but not exceeding expectations. Granted, providing the correct beverage to the customer is an important service as well. Restrooms have a number code to them. So ask for the code first before heading to the restrooms. It's an average size store, in comparison to most of the stores I've been to. Displays look OK. Nothing really drew me to their merchandise or caught my attention. read more

I enjoy how convenient this store is located for me, I do however dislike how I can't even have a cup of coffee without there being five to six tweakers in here. If they aren't inside they stand around outside staring at everyone inside and come in and make scenes for no apparent reason. I can't even sit without having the urge to constantly look over my shoulder at the junkie behind me. You would think management would do something more about it, considering they are taking up the majority of the tables paying customers could potentially be utilizing with bags, camping equipment, luggage, food; etc. I can't even use the restroom half the time because the tweakers horde the only two restrooms to shoot up. As friendly as the staff is, corporate needs to take a look around and see what they can do to better assist their employees with these situations. read more

As a former Starbucks employee, I am absolutely embarrassed of this establishment. The Starbucks employees not only ruined both me and my husbands drink. They were passive aggressive when we made a simple request to add cinnamon dolce sprinkles on top of my drink. They were also rude by not attending to customers and playing on their cell phones instead, I especially thought the barista's names of Mia and Noe. I am used to going to Starbucks at least 5 to 10 times a week because of the supposed quality service of drinks and customer service which I received neither at this establishment. I will never come back to this one again. Mia allowed my Husbands cappuccino to air out, resulting in an extremely bitter drink. It doesn't help that the "Shaken Apple Oat milk Espresso" had no apple syrup in it. This Starbucks is in dire need of some retraining, or at the very least employees who care about the drinks they serve. read more

This place always "claims" to be out of everything on the app. I arrived at 8:30pm and they were already closed. I understand if a place runs out of syrups, it's bound to happen. However, when it's a constant thing, then it gets annoying. They always close early. If they're going to be closing early, then change the hours on your door and app. read more

This store is a hit or miss on service depending who's working. The staff are always friendly (depending on who's working) or you get employees who stare at you blankly and aren't helpful. The interior is, as everyone says, beautiful. Lots of natural light from the windows/glass, cozy with all the plants -- it is the perfect place for a cup of coffee over a meeting with friends or to a quiet moment to get some work done. Got both the hot latte with 2% milk (12 oz) and iced latte with 2% milk + house made vanilla (12 oz). The house made vanilla was good, nothing special but did not have that artificial, alcohol-y taste you sometimes get from the store bought syrups. The drinks, however, tasted more milk than espresso forward. Not my personal preference but if you like your drinks on the milkier side this is probably better suited for your tastes. The flavor of the espresso was fine but I personally would have preferred to add a min additional shot or two for a more coffee forward taste, even with just the plain latte.

They can alter the sweetness on drinks too. My only hang up is it can get pricey for a drink if you sub the milk or ask for a custom drink (anywhere between $8-$11). Parking can also be tight here during peak hours as there is also a great ramen spot in the same complex. Other than that, good spot for catching up, studying, or popping in.

What made the experience disappointing was not just being turned away, but the feeling that we were unwelcome despite technically arriving before closing time. South Coast Plaza already closes relatively early compared to many food spots, so making the effort to get there before 8 only to be denied service left a bad impression.
