I really wish this place were nicer because it's the location closest to my house, but it's just... not. There's not many tables in here for starters so if you want to hang out and do work or catch up with a friend, good luck scoring a spot amongst the people who park there alllll day drinking water or McDonalds soda. I don't think the staff really enforce the "no loitering" concept. The last time I went, there was a really sad elderly lady who was wandering from table to table and sitting down wth people, looking lost and like she wants to talk to someone. If you go in the afternoon, the sun shines in through the closed shades very brightly for the first half of the coffee shop so it is hard to see your computer screen with the glare and it is HOT and uncomfortable. I don't think they pump the A/C here. The wifi is not great. Last time I went, it kept cutting in/out every few minutes. And it wasn't working at all the first 10 minutes. I was trying to listen to music on wifi but it was like a scratched CD. The coffee drink and food selection is standard, just like any other Starbucks. It's not the actual staff I have issues with (they are really nice and friendly!) or the quality of the food/ drinks (just fine, not amazing like some mom and pop places, but you get your caffeine and a snack and it's ok). It's the layout of the place, and atmosphere that's lacking in comfort, availability and coziness. There's no couches or easy chairs. Just cold hard tables and chairs and not many of them. I don't understand why people park here all day in such crummy conditions, but I guess there really aren't many cheap hangout spots in Kalihi so this is where people gather. Oh emm gee this location was jam packed when I arrived. I couldn't believe it!! Originally I intended to sit with a client until the appointment later that morning but there was no finding a seat or anything here. I noticed the line had been long so I decided to order on my app instead. It felt as if either way you could've ordered, you had a long wait. I wanna say the wait was at least ten minutes. Great Coffee! Only took about 5 mins to get my order ready, tried the cake pops which is one of my favorite sweets on the menu! Don't get me wrong, Starbucks is a great place for coffee, I just didn't feel very welcomed at all at this particular location. The coffee here is 5 stars! Just the customer service I received was a 1 star! The young lady who took my order didn't greet me in any way when I walked up to the counter, which made it very awkward because I didn't know whether to order or not. I later proceeded to order my drink, and I'm not really familiar with coffee terms, and she said "would that be grande?" And I just stared because I really didn't know what was Grande, lol. What a cold rainy day, perfect for a Starbucks! I tried one of their seasonal drinks, white got chocolate and wow, it tastes great! Tastes like obviously white chocolate, creamy too and yet great. Busy as usual, and noisy as usual but you'll get used to it. The wait was about 7 minutes to receive my drink and if you have unique names (like me hehe) you should suggest to have a short name when places like Starbucks asks for your name. I don't find myself at Kam Shopping Center often, but I had to kill some time and this was the closest area with a Starbucks. Note: Parking at this center isn't great and walking to the Starbucks from the parking lot is like playing Frogger. You've got to constantly watch your surroundings because the way the parking structure is set up, cars zip by and there isn't any way for them to know you're there. The store was kinda clean, but there were bits of trash left behind on a few empty tables and at the condiment station. There wasn't a line and no one was present waiting for an order when I entered. I saw a few heads look up, but no one actually said "Hi" or anything. The older lady at the register was the only person I interacted with and she seemed very nice and pleasant, but she got my order wrong. Well not "wrong", but she forgot my whip on my hot green tea latte. She probably helped save me a few unnecessary calories, so it's all good. I had to use the restroom while I waited for my drink. This is a solid Starbucks store, the workers are very nice to the customers. I'm not a big fan of Starbucks but if my wife wants a drink, we usually go to this location. Our "go-to" drink is a Tentra Pink Drink with light ice. The way they make it is just right for us, not too sweet. We also settle for a warm banana bread, and I get frustrated at times because it's a hit or miss with this location in getting a banana nut bread. Whether we come in at 10am or 3pm or 5pm, usually they run out of banana nut bread. Other than that, the time to wait for your drink to be ready is fairly short. read more

Asked for an off the menu item, "Cotton Candy Frapp". They said they would make it with the recipe. Too easy, I stepped out and looked it up. Turns out it is a vanilla bean frapp with a pump of raspberry. Went back in line, to be told by "Jay" yes, they can make the Cotton Candy frapp but apologized that they were out of the raspberry syrup. The location of this Starbucks is perfect. Right in the middle of all the shopping. Before or after you run your errands, don't hesitate to stop by. The customer service here is great with friendly staff who aim to please. The baristas were very Knowledgeable and you can tell they were well trained. Entering into Kams newly renovated store got me shook how fast they can change the store within 2 week span. Its so spacious and theres more seats! I can see the store being filled with high school and college students doing work. Nitro Cold Brew is now added into there menu. Its a plus for Cold Brew peeps. I like this Starbucks for convenience and quick friendly service. It's busier that some others but the drinks are always on point. And if it isn't then they happily make another. Not that I've had to do that. They do run out of my favorite protein boxes cause the location is busy. This is the Starbucks that's the most convenient before I head to work. Mainly because it has parking! It's impossible to go to the Starbucks in Downtown, even if there are three of them within one block of each other. I've been to the Kam Shopping Center Starbucks many, many times to the point where a few of the staff members know my order. It's always the same: two Venti Café Lattes, one with soy, one with nonfat, and both lightly iced. They remember my name too! All the staff here are very friendly and will attend to your needs immediately. This Starbucks will get very busy around 620-630AM, especially on Fridays. The weekends are empty during that time though. There are a lot of mobile orders, so that does slow things down even when you see only a few customers inside. The staff here does make the orders in the order they came in. I've had a few instances where one drink is done where as my second drink is behind several other orders. Other than that, they generally pump out orders relatively quick. read more

Yes, I can easily brew coffee at home, but why would I want to do that? Silly. So, about this location. It's somewhat out of my way, but because parking has never been a problem, and I can easily backtrack to work, I come here quite often. Additionally, Longs Drugs, Honu Bakery, Times Supermarket and several other businesses, including banks, are within the same mall. I'm usually grab my drink and go, so I've never been here long enough to use the restroom, but I do know there is one inside. This is good to have, if you plan on being here for an extended period of time to take advantage of their free WiFi. Not all of the employees are friendly, but who cares? Not me. Why? This Starbucks is definitely one of the best on the island, hands down... It is newly renovated so now its a lot more roomy and a lot less depressing. It's bright, spacious and the color scheme is so modern. The wood paneling is a nice touch and so are the art decors on the wall. The store is managed by Noemi, and her amazing way of management reflects on her staff. The staff are easily the best staff on the island. They are friendly, attentive, patient and professional when need be. I'm not the one to be saying anything about Starbucks drinks because I'm pretty basic. Iced cold brew, iced coffee, iced Americano, and now the nitro cold brew are the only ones I order in rotation. I'm sure no one can mess that order up. Great place to hang out, read a book, and drink coffee. read more

This has got to be the friendliest Starbucks ever. After being sick for five days I decided to camp out here and start on that daunting task of reading my thousands of work emails. The Batista noticed I was coughing and offered me water and tea at my table, another woman at a side table gave me cough drops, everyone here watches each others lap tops if they need to leave their table to use the bathroom or order something else, and another woman told me about this really cool Starbucks rewards system. Internet here runs fairly quickly for a Starbucks, there are outlets along the walls and tables to work outside if it gets too cold inside which it does! One side note, there is this really creepy tattooed man (literally entire body covered, face included) that likes to hang out at this location. I watched him come and go all day and he likes to randomly stand in front of tables to watch ppl. He's definitely harmless and never orders anything but the Starbucks crew is at a loss as to what to do with him. Other than that this place is great to get work done. read more

My drink is wrong again? I come to this starbucks every sat and sun and Jessie D. is right when he says it is "hit or miss." I keep coming back because it's conveniently in my neighborhood hoping that they will get it right. Their inconsistency is even more evident since I patronize the ward starbucks the other 5 days of the week (never a missed drink there yet). They consistently make me the wrong drink and a few times they even managed to make both drinks wrong when I ordered one for me and my son. There is some kind of communication breakdown between the order taker and the barista because the directions on the cup are usually right and then your drink is wrong at the bar (vice versa). Hmmmm.... I ordered a non-fat milk for my son on Sat. and it was chocolate milk when it got to the bar. My latte also had an add shot and I definitely don't need three shots of espresso! Other times it was the wrong kind of milk in my latte or added pumps of syrup I didn't order. Odd.... They always redo my drinks with a smile on their faces (that's why the stars are sustained at 3), but they sure do waste a lot of coffee making drinks twice! read more

I am very happy that Starbucks opened up a location close by my workplace! Before this, the closest Starbucks for those who work in the Liliha/Nuuanu area was at Kamehameha Shopping Center. It is located in the spot where Hungry Lion was for years and that famous banyan tree is still there! There are lots of stalls to park in that strip mall but for some reason it is always full! I don't know if it's for Walgreens or all the patrons who go to Starbucks? All the times that I have gone, which is usually in the morning, it is always busy! I suggest those who utilize the Starbucks app, to order your drink ahead of time as I have waited 15 minutes for my Americano. The lines to order is long but waiting for the drink is what is the worse. I cannot figure out what the issue is...it seems like there are more than enough staff. It might be that only one barista makes all the drinks. If you are not in a rush and don't mind the wait, then have fun. As for me, I'm not the most patient. Is there a zero ranking? This store needs to wake up. Don't go to this Starbucks location in Kamehameha Shopping Center unless you enjoy being treated as stupid, inconsequential, and ignorant. The baristas are unfriendly, no smiles, and a just a rote perfunctory "thank you." They gave us our coffee and meal without any appreciation for the money spent. We also bought a protein snack and it came with "One" salt. We went up to ask if they had an extra salt. Their response was "salt? (Said as if we were stupid).....We don't carry salt." Mind you, this was said in a very condescending manner. I went back to talk to the manager and the barista who had originally served us was condescending again. I stated to the manager that out of all the Starbucks I've visited, theirs without any hesitation was the worse. The barista who was trying to defend herself was still being sarcastic and telling me how well she treated us. I told her (in front of the manager) she had so many ways to speak to us and explain they didn't have salt rather than the way she had flaunted how silly we were to ask them if they carried "salt." She said "I only told you we don't have salt....I can give you sugar. We have sugar." That took the cake, she was still being sarcastic. I told her "sugar? When I asked for salt?" This just shows how out of touch these people were on Service and decency. I told this barista if she didn't want to work, then she should not go to work. I also told the manager that all of her staff acts the same nasty way with customers....like "they all don't want to be there at work." We spend close to $35-$50 a week at Starbucks. Even McDonald's treats us with more courteously for less than half what it costs at Starbucks..... We just order and go on our way usually but this one bad encounter was way over the top. More than likely, if you come here in the morning you will stand in a long line. The good news is that the baristas are efficient and the line moves very quickly - so while the line may be 10 deep you'll likely be out of there in 10 minutes. We frequent this one in the morning as it's right next to our house and right next to the freeway on our morning commute - plus it's fast. Baristas are always friendly and are often the same faces you always see in there. Go enough and they'll recognize you. Drinks are prepared quickly but accurately and always delivered with a smile. Even though they are busy they are still kind in the way they help you and answer questions you have. One of the only starbucks in Hawaii to do the nitro brew coffee. We wanted to try it and we did. I got the nitro brew with sweet cream and hubs got it without the sweet cream just to see how it was. There was no ice in it and for a person who drinks coffee black and strong thought the nitro cold brew by itself with no cream or sugar was too strong. He said mines with sweet cream was perfect for him. I had to put some sugar to tone the strong coffee taste. It was really good and I love coffee but i will say it is a very strong brew. This is my weekend spot for Starbucks when I'm in need of a coffee fix. I live in the area so it's only a few minutes drive. It's the only Starbucks we have in Kalihi. It can get busy at times but the line moves quickly and the baristas still manage to show customer service and keep the lines running smoothly. I haven't had any bad experiences here and the ambiance is welcoming and the store is kept clean. A lot of people use this place for studying, hanging out with friends, have meetings, etc. so the chairs can be filled up quick op during peak hours. There's also chairs outside.
