Starbucks is a franchise...I come here I get coffee and majority of the time the staff is friendly and accommodating. I love that this location is open late versus other Starbucks partially because if I want late night Java this is where I'm gonna go. My only gripe is sometimes they get swamped and I spend 15 mins waiting for a drink. Hopefully this location invest in the fax/online orders so it cuts down on time. This is a cute Starbucks. No drive-thru, but the parking lot isn't too bad. The downstairs is somewhat cramped, but apparently there is upstairs seating (I've not been up there... I always wondered what the stairs led to!). They make the drinks quick, and they make them right - what more could you ask for? read more

I used to like this Starbucks even tho they make my drink wrong every time I order but my last visit was the worst. They follow the policy when they feel like, and other days they want to follow it maybe because the manager is around? But if you have a policy you must follow it since day one so the customer don't go they embarrassing situations like if we want to scam you. I stopped into this Starbucks location on 1/8/17. The service was good (and everything I ordered came out in a reasonable amount of time). I was surprised that they were out of number of drinks (and not all of them what I would consider seasonal). The reason I am giving this location of Starbucks a slightly higher rating than I usually give a coffee house is their set up appears to be ideal for studying. They have a large upstairs with more than a few tables and chairs and, as a bonus for those that need to study it is away from where orders are placed. I have been looking for a good non library for studying in the area. I think of all the locations of Starbucks I have been to (other than Barnes and Noble) this is the best for studying. (The irony is the last exam I had to study for (hopefully for a while) was the day before I found this location of Starbucks.) So i'm a science teacher and every once in a while find it necessary to do a little bit of scientific research on my own. I am currently trying to survive life without caffeine, but was majorly craving a cup of coffee. Normally I shun decaf as seriously whats the point? But i desperately wanted to examine the placebo effect to see if i could get the same sense of exhuberance i get from caffeine Enter this starbucks. I decided to be nice and get my coworker a drink as well. So i get up there and order two of the most complicated drinks ever. First a Decaf vanilla late with skim milk and sugar free syrup... at this point i learn this is referred to as a skinny late. One star for making my life easier. And then my lactose intollerant friend wanted a soy caramel machiatto with a shot of toffeenut. Took a while to get this one (like 5 people got their drinks before me) and then i get it and see whipped cream peaking through the lid. Seriously? I ask for soy milk and then they put whipped cream??? I know that not all people who order soy are lactose intollerant, but they should ask right? minus one star as i had to wait another five minutes to get another drink made. I was highly annoyed. However my hypothesis was proven correct! I walked out of there feeling that same sense of euphoria that results from drinking a non decaf latte! However, i am only giving three stars due to the 10 minutes it took to get a drink and the fact that that they scam you into spending a crapton more on fancy coffee drink since their plain coffee is repulsive. read more

I don't drink SB often but came in to try the new Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino. I was impressed with the friendliness and energy of the two guys working there this afternoon (around 12:30pm). Probably one of the best Starbucks stores in the area. Drinks have always come out consistently with no mistakes, and the staff is overall a very nice bunch of people. The building itself is pretty epic, having 2 floors. That being said, it can be hard to find seats during its busier times. There are only four tables on the first floor, with about ten tables on the second floor. That being said, if you can manage to find a seat in here, you can get lost in here for hours while on the Wi-Fi. It's a very pleasant place. read more

This is a nice location with a friendly staff. I'm not sure what you can say about one Starbucks vs another but some do occasionally have a "bad vibe." Not this one though. Not my normal Starbucks but I was near the court house and was in need of a fix. They had a line coming out the door and they moved through it with ease. I didn't get a chance to check out the upstairs but with GMU and the court house right down the street I can imagine its a bustling place with students studying and Lincoln lawyers meeting with clients lol. The staff here is super friendly, my drink was well-made, and the location looks really good, but it is not very conducive to what a lot of people end up using Starbucks for -- working, reading, meeting, etc. This location has a two-level design which means there's basically no seating downstairs where the actual baristas are, and limited seating upstairs. There are like 3 actual tables, and then a bunch of soft lounge-y chairs. Also, because there are entrances on both floors, the upstairs gets frickin' freeeezing with the door opening and closing constantly. Brrrr! I agree with what other Yelpers have said about how cold it is -- I had to put my winter coat back on, lol. read more

Not all Starbucks are created equal, but this one is especially solid. Every time I come here they make my drinks perfectly and very QUICKLY. Which is all I really ask for in a Starbucks. I like this old town Fairfax location for its double decker establishment and patio. I love that it has multiply entrances on both floors. Easy to enter the top floor and sit and have a group study session/meeting. While the first floor is equally cozy and intimate with the smaller tables. The preparation of the lattes and mocha can be hit or miss depending on the shift (I like the afternoon shift the best), however the staffers are usually pretty friendly to redo any order. read more

Can I say... you guys rock?!! The morning staff is here is great! Every morning, my boring, sleepy, moody self goes in and orders the exact same cup of coffee. A tall Pumpkin spice Red Eye. It's the only thing that gets me to go from :( to :) at 9am in the morning... lol. Anyways, the staff remembers EVERYONE that walks in. It amazes me every time. I came here to catch up with my friend one evening. I got the Berry Sangria (there's no alcohol in case you're wondering!) and it was DELICIOUS! If I want to get a refreshing drink I usually like getting the Strawberry Acai Refresher, but this berry sangria drink was amazing too. Great job, Starbucks! It was perfectly sweet without being overly sugary. The fruits and cinnamon in it were so tasty. Will definitely be getting again! Disorganized cashiers and order processing. Allowed public meetings of loud groups discussing inappropriate topics for a food venue. Had to leave in middle of breakfast due to foul / loud comments. Your typical Starbucks with a second floor for more quietness. I'd come here to get some work done. It can get a little hot because the heat rises from the bottom. Much better service than other Starbucks in the area. They know how to serve customers here and quickly. Came in on a Saturday morning, very busy, but did not have to wait more than a minute to order. Got my pastry quick after being warmed. Waited maybe 3 minutes for my beverage, which was fine considering the number of people in the location at the time and waiting. Enjoyed my blueberry scone and grande hot chocolate. The seating areas are great. the music is always at a good volume level and I get so much work done when I go here. I feel that the quality of drinks and overall experience has deteriorated in the two years I have frequented this shop. Simply because it is close to my house, I regularly use the online ordering from this location. But I only ever order cold drinks and food items. I have been burned too many times with hot espresso drinks that have been made incorrectly or just poorly (e.g., cup not filled). Although there are a few very friendly exceptions, staff members generally are not eager at all to correct any problems. I don't stay to work because the bathrooms are almost always dirty and many times the toilets have been clogged. I realize some problems can't be helped if the customers don't use the facilities respectfully. However, the staff then needs to more regularly service the bathrooms so customers don't need to report it (a yucky thing to have to do) or avoid it altogether. Coffee drinkers, beware. read more

The best feature of this particular Starbucks is the large study space on the second floor - it's perfect for getting work done while sipping on a cup of coffee. Service is reasonable (though, in my experience, a little slow at times - expected, I suppose), and the space itself is decently clean. The coffee is just your standard Starbucks coffee - no better, no worse. A few suggestions: In my experience, the temperature has never been comfortable - it's always freezing. It'd be nice if they dialed down the arctic blast in there. The lighting is pretty dim, especially in the evenings, which is the perfect recipe for eye strain. Given that so many people come here to work, and given that this particular Starbucks encourages that work by providing the upstairs space, it would be really wonderful if they brightened the place a bit. read more

Thr parking here is a hassle, but a cup of coffee at the end is worth it. :D I usually come here when they are slow since I don't want to wait in line or deal with parking. They are usually good about getting the order out, and I never had any trouble with this place getting my order wrong. However, I have been here when it was busy before, and thank goodness I ordered via mobile! The line was out the door by the time I parked my car and got to the door. If anyone wants to order here during their rush hour, I would highly suggest using mobile to order. Other than that, I think their coffee-making-speed and accuracy is actually good. I have waited almost 20 minutes for my coffee before and they had gotten it wrong. With this place, I don't think I waited beyond 6 minutes (Although this is with not-busy-hour). As for their cafe space, they have upstairs and it is nice and roomy. I worked on my papers here before and it is very relaxing, almost like a library. Their area is relatively clean, although the trash can upstairs can get filled up very fast and is not emptied right away. Overall, a nice place to meet up with friends and finish work while enjoying a cup of coffee. read more
