Love this place whenever we're in Anaheim we always stop by to bring some star bread home they surely are delicious

I have no words for what I've experienced and seen with my own eyes, I wish I was joking and could undo what I had seen. I came earlier today and it was particularly crowded - what I thought was a line full of people sitting outside on the bench waiting to get their hands on some bread I quickly realized they were all workers, there was about 10 of them all gathered around, sitting on the concrete, vaping, and most disturbing is witnessing one of the older gentleman picking his nose. I went inside maybe hoping they were workers from another establishment because ONE ewwww and SECONDLY the younger group of the workers looked like they had all just rolled out of bed still in their pajamas and sweatpants from the previous night. As I was ordering all of them rushed in, clocked in, but never once used the handwashing station... even after witnessing what I had seen. They quickly went into the back and got straight to work.... i had already paid and left with the bread i purchased but never once ate it because of how nauseated I felt after seeing 10 health code violations within a 5 minute period. Never will I be returning. I hope the health department makes a visit soon! read more

Born in Vallejo and raised in the Bay Area, I'm SUPER excited to see a familiar family owned bakery expand down to Southern California. If you have friends or family up in the Bay, I bet you anything they know about this amazing place. Everyone in the Bay knows of this place as this is the go to spot if you have potlucks, work events, parties, or just craving many delicious seniorita breads! I finally made it out to StarBread Bakery to try their most popular item - señoritas. This bakery is located at the end of a strip mall near Ding Tea and Zankou. The interior is small but clean and airy. It was fairly quiet on a weekday morning so I was in and out in a few minutes. I was greeted by a nice lady at the front counter. After browsing through all the baked goods on display, I ordered 10 pieces of the señorita bread. I made sure that I wouldn't overindulge on all this carb goodness so I only bought a small amount. Wow, these goodies were amazing - soft, buttery, with a hint of sweetness. They are petite sized so you can easily devour several pieces in one sitting. u know i came here for the senorita bread! lemme just say- it was FIRE. ok but first let me talk ab first impressions bc i was very scared. the plaza is like super sketchy and i saw a literal like military truck come. unrelated to this but that was freaky. i go in and its like dead and really empty and no workers. they were busy obviously but i ordered (super cheap btw it was 5 pieces of senorita bread for $3) and i went to my car to eat it. StarBread Bakery señorita bread is simply delicious. It was my first visit to the store, and I wanted to buy a few to sample. The nice man running the shop told me it'd take 20 minutes for a fresh batch to come out. I said I might as well buy a box of 15 rather than a few. It was well worth it! I think they're perfect; the señorita bread is soft, light, and airy with a balance of sweet and savory. They're divine when they're fresh out of the oven. The pastries are good the next day as well. Tips! if you want them warm and soft again, I suggest putting them in the microwave for a few seconds. Overall, an incredible bakery well known for their señorita bread. Remember that scene in ratatouille where Anton Ego took a bite of Remys dish and it sent him back to his childhood? Well that's exactly what the seniorita bread did for me. It took me way back to when my Late grandma used to toast up some bread and spread margarine and sugar on top. Sounds basic but it's such a distinct flavor. Starbread is a very popular bakery from northern California. They opened up their first Southern California location. They are known for their seniorita bread or Spanish bread. It's pretty much a roll slathered with butter and sugar. How can you go wrong with that? Its located at the end of the plaza. We went around 1:00pm so there was no one there. They have other baked goods but their main attraction is the seniorita bread. I ordered that and also a couple of malasadas. The malasadas were just ok. My expectations were low because it's tough to find decent malasadas in the main land. But the seniorita bread was to die for. I had never heard of Señorita bread before, but we stopped in because we were passing by. It's a simple treat. Hard to stop eating these when they are so warm and fluffy. Not overly sweet. I can see why people order in bulk as they are plain enough to suit almost any palate. ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. There is mice crawling on the pasteries in the display case the lady in gray picked up the mouse with her hands threw it in the hand wash sink behind her didn't even wash her hands or throw away the bad pasteries. I tried to get a pic of the rat in the sink and she had the lady in red stand and block my view. I called the health department and city code enforcement. read more

I came on a Saturday 6/27/20 morning at 8:15am and there was no line! Honestly, it really depends on your luck because if there was a holiday today, you're going to have to wait. This place can get so packed even though I think the hype died down. I finally got to try the Señorita bread from StarBread Bakery and it is my first time trying this type of bread ever so I have no baseline. I bought the smallest quantity which was 5 for $2. It came out warm and almost hot - so fresh! It was kind of wet from the syrup glazed on the top and oozing out from the inside and once the bread cools down, it dries up. So if you're eating it fresh, it's going to be a bit of a buttery-sweet mess. They are tiny, but I managed to get four decent bites for each Señorita bread and boy, it is really good! It's a soft bread with a small hollow center that is filled with melted sweet butter. There was still a decent amount of bread surrounding it so I wouldn't say it was so hollow that the bread was more like a thin shell. Overall, this is so good and inexpensive that I would definitely pick some up for work to share or a party. I imagine that it will heat up well in the microwave because it's a soft bread, not crispy. I also tried the cream cheese Bitso $1.75 and this reminded me of a malasada but in a different shape. Inside was pretty hollow, but they filled it with a generous portion of cream cheese (see photo) and while it was good overall, it probably isn't something I'd order again. The Bitso comes in other flavors, larger than a Señorita bread, and doesn't come warm. If you've never tried Señorita bread before, I recommend trying it from StarBread Bakery - it's just so tiny, affordable, and yummy! read more

Always heard good things about this bread from the Bay Area so when I learned they had one in Anaheim I literally jumped in my car and picked some up. Went on a Sunday morning about 9:30am and no line, no wait and still hot and fresh got 25 pieces and gone by the end of the day so I went back the next day this time on my lunch hour 1pm and picked up a 50 piece box!!! Officially addicted again no line or wait! Was expecting them to be big in size but glad for the mini size however makes them easier to eat way more than just one Definitely worth the drive for hot, sweet and buttery goodness read more

My first visit to Starbread was on May 1 ,2020. However, this review is for May 2and May 8, 2020. On May 2nd I came back to pick up senorita bread for my cousins. At approximately 1:38pm a gentleman walked out and said they were running low on bread and will probably sell out. I was the 6th person away from the door, and so I decided to stay in line. At about 1:42pm a woman walked out and said her sister was the owner and that she was sorry they sold out of senorita bread. She also mentioned that she's there everyday helping her sister so she'd give everyone in line a voucher for 15pieces of senorita bread that can be used anytime. Cool right? Nope! Her sister (the owner) came out and started whispering to one another in tagalog. At this point ol'girl already gave a "voucher" to the customer by the door. My guess the owner told her no we can't do that. A couple of minutes later the owner says, "I'm sorry but we ran out of bread...we didn't think the demand would be more than the supply because of covid...please come back tomorrow. Since you waited in line you can have whatever is in the display case." From where I was standing there wasn't anything worth risking the calories for so I left. No big deal. On May 8th at approximately 10:31am (I know the time because as it was happening I was texting my cousins about this incident), I watched the owner (lady at the register) go into the restroom wearing gloves. Minutes later she walked out still wearing gloves while holding a damp paper towel to dry her gloves. At this point my eyes are on her to see if she'd change gloves. NOPE! She threw away the paper towel and proceeded to take a customer's order. She then boxed items from the display case for the customer. Granted, she was using tongs. But still, the customer paid with card which she handed to the owner to swipe. To make matters worse, the quality of the bread went down within a week. The senorita bread was burnt and at this point I didn't bother eating or sharing it because of the cross contamination I witnessed. Thank you but no thank you. I told my friend about the incident since I didn't want her to waste a drive from SD. She told me she'd DM the bakery. To add insult to injury, the IG moderator denied the allegation and said they change their gloves after they use the restroom (see photo for full conversation). Like I said earlier, I watched the owner the whole time and she didn't change her gloves. Anyways, I won't be returning here. Moving forward, I hope they do better with food handling and cleanliness. Don't go here for anything else except Senorita bread. It is simple yet hot, fresh, & delicious. I went for the first time maybe 2 months ago? It was perfect. Butter and sugar oozes out when bitten. Outside was slightly crisp and the bread was so damn soft and airy. They threw them in paper bags & didn't give me plastic bags so....it was greasing up and went all over my car... They ran out of plain ube square so I had to buy with frosting. I would not recommend it at all. The square so soft but taste was underwhelming. The frosting was disgusting, tasted like Pillsbury. Just plain sugar, which overpowers the underwhelming cake. I think the sausage rolls are literally just there just so it could be sold. (Since hot dog breads catch attention) There is no care or anything special about it. Not bad but you will always get cold sausage bread with solidified dry cheese. They don't keep these warm. Went here today, hot and fresh. But the they skimped on the butter & sugar now. So the rolls are kind of plain now, that's disappointing. They're cheap to give you a bag especially when you need it, and if you want a box you have to pay. So remember to ask for a bag (they won't offer themself) or bring your own in case lol. Overall senortia is very good for parties & to eat immediately. Not as good for the next day, but it can just be used as a side or dinner roll. Just dont expect the butter & sugar. I heard of StarBread bakery in SF and I was so happy to find out this place opened up in Orange County. First thing's first, fresh señorita bread is to die for. They're like mini rolled up croissants. They're filled with some type of light filling. The bread is SO good. It's hot, savory, sweet and a bit salty. It balances out very well. In no time I had already eaten 4. Señorita bread I believe is Starbread's claim to fame. Their donuts are pretty average donuts. They've got a nice amount of glaze, a solid amount of puff, and good bite. The flavor is solid too. I especially liked their sugar crusted guava filled pastry. The guava flavor really pops out. The donuts only include the regular donuts like glaze, ube, and maple though! I made the mistake of thinking their mango/ube/pandan and anything filled was part of their mix and match deal but it's not so be wary of that. Parking is fine here. Store is the very last one at the end of a strip mall in the corner. I recommend simply for their señorita bread! read more

I was shocked to see a location here in SoCal after a coworker brought them to a potluck!! Parking is super easy, it's a huge lot and the store is the last/ at the very edge of the strip. I went around 4pm on a Tuesday and there was no line! Of course had to get a box of the senorita bread (it came warm!) and I would say it's comparable (and definitely cheaper) to the Salted Butter Bread at 85C Bakery Cafe, just smaller in size and has a little more butter at the bottom than 85C does. Ube bread: perfect amount of sweet, much better warmed up. Oreo Malasada: maybe not for the person who doesn't like cream filling (like myself) BUT I did like how it wasn't too sweet. Arrived a little after 3:00 on Saturday and there was no line ordered their famous bread 20pcs $8.00 along with some other goodies cupcakes $1.00/1.50 ea, hot dog with jalapeño and a ham and cheese $2.50 or $2.75 I can't remember... these were both really good... as for the señorita bread it had different variations inside the box some didn't have any sprinkled sugar, looked plain, some a bit burnt and some were perfect ‍ it was kind of a surprise box .. I've had these before and they were all perfect must of just been a bad batch ‍.. we will definitely go back and try it again though and try more of the items they have to offer read more
