You didn't have to be a total transvestite-princessa-Leia-look-a-like-type-fan in order to enjoy this weekend.
My 4 year old daughter had only seen about an hour of the original Star Wars, in the car, on the drive up, because we had planned a trip to Disney this weekend WITHOUT knowing about "MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH US" untill 10 PM the night before and the van is packed.
But she was still so excited to see all the characters. And I love that they had them just wandering around. You couldn't walk 50 feet without there being a storm trooper, I swear. It was more like you were at Hollywood Studios WITH the characters, instead of waiting in line for them. Because they would just go strolling, and their handlers would make sure, when they stopped for a picture here and there, that it didn't become an impromptu line to meet a character.
There were special events and photo ops, music, food, merchandise... EVERYTHING was star wars. But I was not impressed by the fireworks. We stayed to watch them, even though we have a 4 year old and an infant, because we thought they were going to be really special. And they closed down the kids section, PIXAR lane, early, because the fireworks get shot off one of those buildings, so there was little for them to do while we waited for hours. Magic Kingdom fireworks are 3 times better. But Joey LOVED dancing with all the characters. And since she is a cute little 4 year old, all the characters seem to love stopping to take a picture with her! read more
