We were there on a Saturday morning, had a party of 7, and the place was pretty busy. With that in mind, the service was mediocre, but friendly. The food took way too long to receive and was also mediocre. We mostly ordered sandwiches and omelets, and it took about half an hour, maybe longer to get our food. Coffee refills were scattered. But, at least the waitress was nice. All things considered, I suppose this is a good alternative to Denny's. read more

This place is ridiculously over priced. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with sausage and paid $12.25 I could have gotten the same thing at Denny's but for have the price. I told them online it said it was $8.95 and she asked ohhh online they have a different menu you have to make sure you go to "our" website. Let's just say I will never come back again. read more

I'm happy to say that STARS is reliably a good place to get a burger and have it end up decent! They even decorate it with silly toothpicks. All in all, I haven't been let down by Stars. I'd say it isn't something I crave for but it is a fail-safe for good food that won't be messed up. read more

WORST PLACE EVER. Food was bland. Service was horrible. Our waitress was trying to be funny telling my dad he couldn't order more food. Who says that???? Five different dishes and nobody liked theirs. I didn't the salad or garlic bread that came with my pasta. By the time our waitress came around to tell her everyone else was already done. I took two bites of my shrimp pasta and couldn't eat any more. So disappointing. read more

I had heard about Stars from friends and family who live in the area and told me that I "had" to go there. To me, that usually means that they're reliving some fond memory and there's no way for the place to live up to their rose-colored recollections. Fortunately, Stars proved me wrong. Yeah, there's nothing fancy about the place. Just some reliable comfort food and I appreciate that. What I appreciate more is the service. I'm traveling alone on business and sometimes these places seem to go out of their way to make you feel uncomfortable that you're not one of their regulars. I seemed to be the only person in the place that the waitresses weren't on a first name basis with, but they treated me in a friendly manner. Service was really good actually- and that's a good thing. I'm pretty easy going and will tolerate a mistake with my order or just average food but I have no patience for poor service. You might not be a world class chef but anybody can give good service. The staff at Stars made me feel like a regular and I left satisfied. I'll be back. read more

Having frequented and enjoyed this restaurant for may years I was disappointed with the food and service last Sunday morning. I ordered hamburger steak and eggs but the server didn't seem to understand what I meant and asked if I wanted a hamburger patty and eggs. When the order came it was a fair sized patty with two of the smallest eggs I've ever seen let alone been served in an upscale establishment. I asked for worcestershire sauce and they again didn't seem to understand what I wanted and they didn't have any. The serving of hash brown potatoes was not much bigger that which is served and McDonalds. The staff were Latin and didn't seem to grasp the concept of American cuisine and decidedly unfamiliar with upscale eateries. Obviously the ownership has changed recently. read more

We used the online ordering option while traveling from SF to parts north (a long drive!). Decided to put a little joke in the "special instructions" area of the online form, which really tickled the person we talked to as we called in to say we would be about 20 min later than originally anticipated. He was such fun to talk to, took our delay in stride, and had hot and cold food ready for us upon arrival. The Big Cheeseburger was really good, huge, and came with good fries. The Citrus Salad was HUGE, very fresh and tasty. Our special requests were honored to a "T." Thanks, Stars! We'll be stopping by again with an upcoming trip! read more

Quaint and friendly place. The food was good and decent portions. Nachos appetizer was good and served 7 folks easily. There are not many restaurants from which to choose in Ukiah but one of our "rules" of family travel is to try local restaurants. It doesnt have the most attractive store front and might make ya seem a little leary to go in, but Im Glad we chose Stars instead of the one that was in the parking lot of our motel. We arrived at 7pm on a Wednesday and Jess promptly seated us, a party of 13. They were awesome about us waiting for 4 members of our party too. Without drinks and with 5 kid's menu orders and most of ordering burgers...we spent $126. Not bad for 13 folks. I cannot say enough good things about Jess, our waitress. She was helpful...answered all our crazy questions and even took a group photo for us. All while smiling the whole time. The manager was attentive as well...helping serve our table even tho he had a busy house. I like seeing mangers chip in when there's help needed. Overall, we loved this local place. Pricing was right for sandwiches, kid's meals and entrées. Save $$ by ordering water instead of drinks. And Jess deserves a raise for her awesome service! Thanks Jess! read more

Today, my family and I went to the Star's restaurant, and to be completely honest, it was OK. We had the chicken fried steak, cowboy burger, and lastly the Cajun salmon. It was all good, except for the salmon. that was just horrible. First of all, I knew something was wrong because it was smelling odd when it was placed on the table, and it was over cooked as well was old. we told the manager and he tried to defend the restaurant. He kept repeating " We serve a lot of salmon and it is all fine, maybe it is just that one."... and "i can let you try with a different item." and it started to get annoying. we kept refusing and saying we were full. the kind thing was that he took the salmon off the bill, which i think was because we said we would yelp about it. So that was nice. Overall, wouldn't recommend to others. read more

I would like to say that for a family style , not so upscale dinner, the service was great. It was friendly, fast, CLEAN, and pleasant. The hosts were funny and happy. The restroom was immaculate.
