I went to drop off recycling, the cashier started counting the batteries, then called his manager to ask how to enter the # of batteries. I recycle every month and usually after 10 minutes the points are on my account, well this time they weren't so I went home and checked my account again, no points, so after a 20 minute wait to get through to customer service I'm told give it a few days and if they aren't there call back. There is no posting on my account of the transaction but the rep said they saw it on their end but didn't know why it didn't post so to me I have been ripped off my points. read more

This was my first time at the Watchung Staples. I came here to purchase some school supplies. I was looking for something very specific . Target and other stores were sold out. Knowing that this time of year is very crazy, I asked a staff member if he could help me find what I was looking for. ( I was looking for flexible binders.) This worker climbed on a latter to look and also checked the entire store.. Unfortunately, this Staples ran out too.. What I didn't know was that if Staples is sold out , they have a small kiosk near the front of the store. U can go online order what you need and a printed receipt will appear. You take it to the front and pay.. In 24 hours the item or items you need will be delivered to your door at no extra charge. Because I ordered online, I also received a discount which saved me approx seven dollars. The lines were a bit long but due to back to school time it was very understandable. Everyone working at this Staples was very friendly and very nice, from a customers standpoint they were all well trained ... I would definitely recommend coming here and I will gladly return.. read more

I tend to find myself ending up at Staples whenever I'm in a pinch. This store has always come through for whatever that last minute need seems to be. Located in the Watchung square mall, this Staples doesn't feel like it's high traffic even though it is in a high traffic area. That is actually a cool thing. The store is organized, clean and the staff is very attentive and helpful. My last trip here was to the copy center. I have to admit, I have never used the copy center before so had no idea what I was in for. Well depending on what you are doing the entire process is pretty much self serve. Pop your credit card in, pick what you want to be done and the prints are made. I have entered these doors many times and plan to continue to indulge in all the things that Staples has to offer. read more

If I could give 0 stars, that would be closer to rating. Highly disappointed. I've been coming to this Staples for years and haven't had such terrible customer service before. I have a paid Staples Plus membership so the incentive is to use the in-store purchase coupons. Unfortunately, my items were out of stock and the kiosk was down. I stood there for 5 minutes hoping anyone passing by would offer assistance with the giant error message was on the screen. So, I went to the line with only one person finishing up. No greeting, no offer of assistance, nothing. I approached the cashier, Marco, and explained the kiosk wasn't working and he couldn't do anything about it or access any coupons. I was told I had to call customer service. I asked if there was a way to view on desktop and he said I could use the computers in the back. When I said that I would have to pay per minute, he didn't care one bit and said, "Yeah, you have to pay per minute." I asked for a manager to help, and she was great looking everything up, especially with all the changes of how coupons could be used. The days of Staples coupons incentives are gone if it's such a hassle to use any of it. Regardless of not knowing how to look up certain items or getting some information for a customer, at least act professional enough to seem as if you did your best to help a customer with their questions. Hands down, if Marco's customer service was a representation of the store, this Staples would lose a ton of business and lose a lot of teachers that specifically come back just for the ease of using those coupons. There's a Walmart in the same shopping center or even the Springfield Route 22 Staples down the road as an option. I did not feel remotely valued as a customer one bit. read more

Consistently the worst Staples of the bunch. As always, only ONE person working at the Print/Projects area. I stood on line for 30 minutes to get a small job order placed that took 5 minutes to do. And I stood on line only because every copy/printing machine was out of order (as per usual). Now i just drive to the Hadley Rd Staples to get things done. This store has been around for a while, and is the closest to my home location. This store carried general office supplies, from paper, notebooks and staplers, to writing instruments, Post-It Notes, and more. They also had an area where desks and chairs were sold. Floor mats for the chairs were available as well. That obviously wasn't all. They also carried calculators, computers, laptops, and printers. They were all laid-out in separate aisles. Accessories for such electronics were also available close-by. They even carried certain digital media players and earphones there too. Sometimes I come here to get certain office essentials, but only if I see it on sale at a cool price. But other times (including recently), I come here to get ink cartridges for the printer. This is the only store that carries the type of ink I need for the home printer, since Target doesn't carry it. I was always able to get it here without a problem. But I do take away one star because of the pricing with the ink. I rarely see it on sale, but no one can ever wait for the price to be discounted, especially when they have documents to print out. This is why I end up paying the regular retail price, which is kind of expensive. But it's a necessity in order to complete what needs to be done. I've never had an issue with customer service. They always had a positive attitude when they assisted myself with locating and checking-out merchandise. I've also never had an issue with the appearance of the store and shelves. Nothing was dirty and the shelves were very organized. Overall, a fine office supply store. read more

TWICE now Vernon at the Staples Print & Copy has saved me. Today he fixed my mother's funeral service program. It was laid out incorrectly - and printing two pages to a page. Even though it's not due until Monday he stayed post-closing to resolve the issue, set up the print run, print, fold & bind AND called me after to confirm it was done. I cannot be happier. read more

I feel as though I've written so many reviews for Staples stores, but I guess I just go to a lot of them! This particular Staples is organized pretty much like all other Staples, and has that classic, fresh, stationary, stapley, papery smell. The store is very big which is great because they can fit in even more stuff inside. The service is awesome - very friendly workers, especially in the copy/print/binding department. As an artist, I've had to make many portfolios to display my work to clients and employers, and I always go to this Staples to get my portfolios bound together to look professional. The man who usually helps me is so, so friendly and does a great, thorough job. I am always very pleased! It is also very conveniently located in the Watchung Square Mall, right by a Party City, DSW, Sephora, PetSmart, Home Depot, Target, AC Moore, and the list goes on and on. I keep telling myself I will not come back here, and yet I find myself back to take advantage of the sales. I think today was my last trip here. It is a poor excuse for a retail establishment. I know retail can be difficult (I use to work at a Target), but there are some things that are really difficult to mess up. It's really easy to take down sales that no longer apply. I bought items that I thought were on sale, when in reality, the sale had been over for 4 days. Does it really take that long to take a sign down so as not to confuse customers? I guess I should read the size 6 font that says the dates to which the sale is applicable. Also, restocking shelves is not that difficult. I am going to try to find alternate locations. This store is in serious trouble. Where these five-star reviews are coming from is a mystery to me. I must be in the wrong store. I have never been there without some frustrating experience. Poorly stock shelves, out of date sales and incompetent or inexperienced service people. This small Staples is closest to my home, so I frequently shop here. There is a larger one a few miles up the road in Springfield, but the big one in North Plainfield on Rte. 22 closed some time ago. What prompts me to write this review is the fact that I bought a Lexmark color laser printer here three or 4 years ago, and they no longer stock toner for it. I had to order it online, although to their credit, they delivered it to my home in a timely manner. This store, and, apparently, all the nearby Staples, have now replaced all that previous shelf space exclusively with Hewlett Packard toner cartridges. Literally, an entire isle of HP toner in a hundred different configurations. If brick-and-mortar stores are to survive, why not maintain some diversity among brands that you sell or recently sold, and stock toner for Lexmark, Canon, Brother, etc., like you used to? Lord knows, the Lexmark burns through color toner cartridges like poop through a goose. Used to be able to just run up there and pick up a replacement cartridge at the last minute. Now, I have to order it, and wait for delivery. I don't see this as a positive development for the business. read more

Small location but it still gets the job done! They only have a few registers open so waiting to check out is more common than not. However, you can still buy all of your necessities there. If you're looking for more specific, uncommon supplies, go online or into a different store. I was able to buy almost everything there that I needed. Standard ink, pens, and cleaning supplies. I was looking for a plastic name tag which they did not have. Good place when you're in a pinch! read more

I did not have an easy print job but rather something I needed help to remove certain parts of the page. Earlier in the day, I asked a local professional printer to take a look and he was not able to crop it easily with his software. I brought it to Vernon and he took the time to put multiple documents through the process and helped me select a paper. It was printed in 15 minutes -- I was amazed and he saved the day! read more

Love love love this store! I hadn't been to it since 2012, but recently made a trip back in and though the staff has changed, the customer service has not! Still great!! I do, however, wish it was as neat as it used to be in 2012. The shelves were always stocked and looked great for being a retail store! Terrible service, hands down worst copying center ever. Every time I go there to have documents printed or copied the self service center is always down or not set up right. Then I ask an employe for help and they always tell it will take a few days to print and that I have to come back. Keep in mind it's not even busy and I just want a few documents printed. If your lucky you ask another employee and they print it for you right then and there with no problems. read more

I've used the Copy & Print service here twice and both times I had the same experience. I placed my order online with a requested time but after noticing a lack of notification that my order is ready, I grew concerned that it was not going to be ready on time. The first time, the person I spoke with didn't know about my order and said that his records showed the order was to be ready by 6pm (it was requested to be done by 1pm). The second time, I thought I was being smart by placing the order the day before because yes, the first time was the day I needed it. So I figured I would try again. This time, the "rush" option had the first slot available of 12pm the next day. I selected this, figuring it would be ready by the time I would head to pick it up (around 4pm). I called because it is now almost 3pm and I have no e-mail that the order is ready. Of course, I've been on hold for 10 minutes now and haven't even had the chance to express my reason for calling. This Staples is very poorly run and disorganized in the Copy & Print section. Customer service is poor, at best and it is understaffed. I recommend taking the extra drive to Springfield because the Staples there is far superior, very well-run, and friendly. I'm definitely never using this location again. read more

I have been a satisfied business customer for years until I started to place order online from Staples and have them delivered to the Watchung Store for pickup. The local store is supposed to send me an Email advising me the merchandise is ready for pickup. The store never sent me an email after a month and I have to initiate the follow up between the local store and the online Staples. When I went to the store, it took more than half an hr for them to locate the merchandise. The same experience happened to me currently. The estimated delivery is June 4 - June 11. I called June 10 to follow up and was told they have until June 15. I called June 15 and was told it was delivered to the store June 4 !. I asked for a manager to call me. 72 hrs have passed and the promised call did not come. I went to the store with my kid on June 15 evening. There are very few customers in the store. We waited for 40 minutes and they still could not locate the merchandise. They blamed it on the tracking system. The store made a copy of my order and said someone will call me. 60 hrs went by and no call or email from the local store. read more
