I'm really fortunate that over the years I have enjoyed the golf course with my family. I always had a family member that had a Greenwich Country Club membership. I am invited when I visit Greenwich. Their membership is by invitation only. Naturally my favorite place is the dining room. I've enjoyed many delicious meals here. It's great for special occasions or after a day playing golf. The employees are professional and friendly. I always have a good experience and can't wait to return! If you have the opportunity to play golf here or enjoy a meal, I know you will agree. We are grateful for the recommendation because the club boasted all the features we wanted in our wedding: proximity to water, an older charm, and within our budget. Despite not being members of the club but we were never made to feel that way, ever. We made frequent short notice visits to the venue to show family and friends and we were always warmly received. Ted Hennes greeted us each time and would ensure that we were welcome at any point in the process. From the day we signed our contract to the day of our wedding, Ted was by our side making sure all of our desires were met. He had my favorite beer brought in from out of state and throughout our planning would do similar small gestures that indicated to us he was also invested in the event being successful, fun, and memorable. The premises are kept immaculately and our guests absolutely loved the photo opportunities in the mansion, near the pier, and in the garden area. We were married outside and the view of the water was such a lovely backdrop to our ceremony. The estate speaks for itself and we needed to do very little with our floral company to enrich the natural beauty of the structure. We were permitted to decorate the rooms as if they were our own; this meant that during cocktail hour guests could meander the rooms and relax, look at old family photos, and sit comfortably in the home. We are still receiving compliments on the food from our wedding - everything was delicious. From the cocktail hour options to the entrees - our only regret is not having the time to indulge more in cocktail hour food. The wait staff paid so much attention to detail; it was almost as if each table had its own waiter. You never went hungry (or thirsty). The bar service was impressive as most of our guests love partying and we were initially concerned about the club's ability to accommodate a rowdier crowd; however, they did so seamlessly! Food was also very good, as they had a brunch like food for the shower- foods like bagels, fruit, french toast, make your own omelet, salad, potatoes, and bacon which was pretty good. The only thing i suggest, Label the food so that people know what it is, i took dressing for my salad that i can guess was balasmic but it tasted like Italian. Also another feedback, and i noticed they did this more throughout the event but, train your staff to ask before they take any plates away on the tables, one may think that they are done, but they could not be. Anyways, dessert was also good, as there was a strawberry cake, munchins, cake pops, and brownies, which was all very good. It was also easy to find the restroom and it was very clean. I can't say much about the beach club or activities, but it looked like they had a nice large pool. The grounds are also beautiful.

I attended an event here. An event consequential to my good friend--who was the host...working two…read morejobs and putting aside money every week for 12 years. In my opinion, this place blew it. They really blew it. I would never trust them to host an event for me. Not a communion--nada...nunca. In short, Apawamis rhymes with can't-stand-us-- that's all you need to know. That's how I felt. In my opinion: They. Just. Didn't. Care. They screwed up every aspect of this occasion. Let's start with the facility and logistics. The attendee tables were much too close together. The food stations were too near the tables. Also, the stations were not professionally set up and assembled in a haphazard and happenstance sloppy way. No decorations or signage so you had to guess what you were gulleting [sic].Honestly, I've done better with home kid's birthday party spreads. I felt bad for my friend. The roof sprung a leak and it was actually raining on the party and it's guests!!! I had to go track someone down since my buddy who threw the party was busy looking for someone to turnover the tables and remove the salad plates and fill water glasses. Poor guy couldn't enjoy the event. The facility party supervisor was no where to be found for most of the party. My friend told me their name and I went on a hunt to tell her the tables needed to be turned over and the serving stations attended to...and I was told they were busy attending to another party in the facility. Literally, my friends party-- to me-- was like a driverless car careening out of control. The timing of happy hour, salads, table bread, dinner and dessert was--in my opinion, at best--haphazard and seemingly left to rank and file staff that were way too few in number. It was a pernicious kerfuffle. Those that were there worked super hard and with tons of heart functioning sans a leader most of the night. They were heros. The facility and the manager of the event were not heros--from my vantage point, they were the opposite. The food I tried was average to poor. The beef and brócoli was rubbery/tough and soggy respectively...and disappointingly bland. Yucky. The steak station had creamed spinach and hash browns that--in my case--were milky/cold and greasy/cool respectively. The steak--at least what I tried--supermarket quality, dry, tough and tasteless. Why would they serve me shoe-leather tough well done meat? My friend (the host) tried some off my plate and clandestinely expectorated it into a napkin. My friend was so upset but said to me that he had nobody to complain to since the facility host was nowhere to be found and that, given it was mid party--there was nothing they could do anyhow. The Italian station--in my case--had pasta that was undercooked and the chicken parm was not right. The chicken--at least in my case--was not pounded, too thick, and the breading poorly adherent to it. There was too little sauce that was under spiced. It was beyond rescue--no matter how much parmigiana cheese, salt and pepper that I haplessly and generously applied. It was a sophomoric mishmash. The tiered dessert assortment plates were almost ok. Some pieces were cold and all tasted like they came from a Costco variety pack. Nothing special. In my opinion, this was bad, really bad experience for the guests that numbered well over a hundred. I have my suspicions as to why this country club handled this specific sort of event the way they did, but I'll keep it to myself. Suffice it to say--if you don't want to handle these sorts of events in a professional manner--then don't accept the job. Shame on you Apawamis (you-can't-stand-us).

Her kindness and empathy will never be forgotten. Jaclyn made herself available to me at any time night and day and even on her days off. She ensured every detail was taken care of with much thought and an impeccable level of attention. We had special menu item requests and dietary restrictions which were not only met but exceeded our expectations. Thankful it all went very smoothly given the difficult time and very little notice to plan such a large gathering. Any last-minute changes were accommodated with ease. Staff was absolutely wonderful and beyond exceptional!!! Everyone raved about the delicious food, beautiful venue, setting and overall experience. We all found a lot of peace and comfort there and are very grateful we selected Knollwood. HIGHLY recommend Knollwood for any of your future functions. Jaclyn is truly amazing!!! My Uncles and Cousins were avid golfers and they always took me to play. I played a lot of golf here. At one time my one Uncle was a member. We were always his guests. Through the years I have returned to play when I'm in Greenwich and I'm invited. I've seen the course grow in beauty and many amenities added over the years. Years ago it was pretty rugged terrain to play. I suggest you review their website for the requirements. This is a private club with dress code, cell phone policy, and more. If you live in the area, and are a serious golfer, they offer several types of membership. I've always had good experiences here. I'm recommending.
