They are lovely to customers even if they can tell there is little chance they will buy and she is sincere about creating lovely art. Her paintings are done with care, diligence and are of an abstract style, the paintings I saw were about landscapes and some were very moving in a lovely way. Lisa Mclaren-Clark produces serious pieces of work aimed at serious collectors and at the higher end prices that such collectors pay, not silly money but they are in the hundreds of pounds. However if one of them takes your fancy I would say that they are done with great sincerity and are worth the price.

Includes figurative sculpture, naïve style still life, abstraction, portraiture, prints, city scenes and everything not so easily categorised in between. The director is knowledgeable and helpful, understanding that a piece needs to work in the space you have in mind. Though some artists are well established with various accolades behind them, the gallery is also good at supporting emerging talent, Justin Weeks and Mary Jane Ansell being good examples of this. The standard of this gallery is parallel to anywhere you'd find in London I highly recommend it.

Most pieces in here are contemporary, bursting with colour, often quirky yet somehow simplistic at the same time, appealing to a large audience (I'm especially taken with Dominika Ruta's paintings). The space itself is homely and welcoming yet lends itself well to the frequent exhibitions, which include local artists as well.

The owner and curator of Blue Dog Gallery, she has created a lively gallery space that celebrates and platforms a compelling mix of Polish art. Set against striking white and bright blue walls, there's a strong mix of bright and playful paintings, ceramics and glassware. The work of established and emerging Polish designers, there's also some big sculptures and a wee bio for each designer. The things I left wanting to buy however, were the kitsch Mystic Pizza and Lolita film posters.

It is collectively run by 18 artists who showcase their work here on alternate times. The Fountain Gallery also have guest artists. Usually each artist is allocated a certain period of time in which to showcase their work. I believe that the times are not fixed. Most artists seem to take it over for about a month. During this time they oversee the gallery, so customers can come and talk to the artists about their work. The art comes in a mixture of forms. Generally it is painted work, most in watercolours, sometimes there are photographers who exhibit their work. Occasionally there are potters. Although the gallery closes at 6, I have often walked past and seen open evenings, it is worth phoning ahead to find out what is on.

It's a co-operative of many artists so the exhibitions change frequently and, as a bonus, are run by the artists themselves. Talk to the artist and buy anything from a postcard to a limited-edition print or even a full-blown oil painting or sculpture. If you want to turn yourself into a work of art you can sometimes buy, or commission, a pretty piece of original jewellery too.

It was 4.24. So, I drew a long breath and 'Uhm'd?' for as long as I could exhale and chose the smallest side sweet. Not to penalise them with a lowish cover from me for the 36 full minutes I was preparing to spend in this picture framing shop-come-coffee lounge soaking up the creativity of Coulsdon, where in this quirky setting the rules of retro style have just reached the realms of Reedham, but my pastry's petiteness was to help me avoid going against the rules of calorific intake guidelines for a person of my size, of course. In fact I did rebel, almost. I made sure we stayed until exactly 4.58 and were almost the last to leave. I also had a bit of my dates quite moist carrot cake, taking me over the government's calorific guidelines for a person my size! So there! Who's Rock and Roll now? *Licking Fingertip to press it on an imaginary a hot surface* Tsss! Nevertheless, Art Rebellion won in the rebellious one upmanship stakes. I ordered a drink of my choice; I got something else (they fixed it without question and the coffee was actually rather good), but whilst I wanted to soak up the scene of zone 6 where Art Rebellion sits in a pioneering spot as the first independent coffee shop between the M25 and where the southern tip of London starts, however the only thing I was soaking up and sucking in was the horrid smell of Mr Sheen as the tables were quite vigorously sprayed with the foul faux-flowery smelling furniture polish. So I abandoned my undercooked cookie and allowed myself to be ushered out. Art Rebellion's definitely injecting some cool into Coulsdon, but it's not quite the new Crouch-End yet.
