As someone who took it during the weekends, it is tough to find practice for the skills needed for the exam so the staff did coordinate with the students to schedule the times & days to practice over the weekdays. However, I do not like how they kick people out in order to prioritize those that are almost graduating out of no where so practicing skills is hard with such a small space. During clinicals, the instructor, whose an LVN was incompetent to aid us for the actual hands-on experience & during that time at the site we were at, there was alot of COVID cases, but Mr. V effectively took charge of the situation & move us to a different clinical site in order to get the hours in as well as organize our class time to help us practice our CNA skills. Overall, the experience was mixed for me.

While I see a lot of reviews on here complaining about the numerous required classes not directly related to a specific craft, I actually really appreciated how the school sought to approach my education holistically; taking into account the entirety of my personhood outside of my primary field of study. As an animation and music student, some of my favorite classes actually included getting to study authors like Dostoevsky and Dante, learning the principles of leadership, Catholic Poetry, and even understanding the importance of Film Criticism. These all played heavily into my animation, music, and writing work. The university's biggest strength is its professors. I can name multiple faculty members who showed me throughout my studies that they cared about me not just as a number, but as a real person with struggles, hopes, dreams, and challenges. One professor in particular, after hearing I was struggling with health issues, invited me to sit in his office, talk it out, and plan practical steps to heal and enjoy the work I was doing. I can't put into words how much that meant to me. Spiritual Life on campus was also one of my favorite aspects of JPCatholic. They have mass daily and adoration multiple days of the week, as well as confession before most masses. This was the main reason I came to the school. I also was part of a wonderful household of women who were incredibly encouraging, steadfast, and had hearts on fire for the Lord. Not only were they integral to my walk with Christ, but were genuinely fun and joyful people to be around. In my own experience, I would say the downside of this school is the sociological aspect of it. Since it's a three year program, one third of the population is cycled out every single year, making it hard to establish a consistent culture within the school. (Which means reviews, both good and bad, about the community are rarely going to apply to the years following it). There are also no communal lunches (because JPCatholic uses apartments, not dorms) which means you really have to be intentional about going out of your way to meet people and maintain friendships. This can lead to loneliness epidemics across the school, especially for people like me who struggle with a workaholic mindset. However, I have multiple siblings and friends who attend other Newman Guide schools who have expressed the same struggle, so I'm sure it's also a human thing. At JPCatholic, you need to push yourself to get out there and make friends, schedule dinners with roommates, and feel like a part of the community outside your work. I would strongly recommend joining a household! The amount of independence JPCatholic gives its students can also be a huge learning curve for people like me who before coming to the school maybe did two loads of laundry in my life and could microwave a hotdog. However, I can say that although it was hard at first, I am so thankful I learned so many practical life skills while I was in the JPCatholic environment instead of having to learn after graduating. Finally, I would say my favorite academic experience at JPCatholic was definitely the senior project program (Animation Capstone). Like many others have mentioned on this site, you're going to learn at this school by doing. JPCatholic is a school that is tailored towards people who initiate and take action... or in other words, you're going to get out what you put in. I began the senior project process as a freshman, and I was moved by the people (especially students and prominent faculty) who actually took me and my idea seriously even when I had only been at the school for a few months. I loved getting to know each and every crew member that was a part of the project and it ended up becoming something much larger than I had originally dreamed. I'm so grateful for that entire experience and am humbled hearing people tell me about their experiences with the film itself. JPCatholic taught me that being a writer, musician, and artist is hard... but that I can do hard things. I came in as an optimist with big dreams, and left with even bigger dreams now grounded in perseverance, experience, and practical skills. I can't wait to take what I have learned at JPCatholic and continue to grow as an artist and person.

Wow! Just went into AMTI today to do my ACLS and BLS skills portion after completing my online…read moremodules. Javier was so incredibly knowledgeable and really presented the material in a fun way. Here, I took the following courses: Shakespeare for English, College Algebra for Maths, Trigonometry for Maths, Anthropology for Social Sciences, California Politics for History, Native American Studies for History. But it's really an encouraging workspace for the mind and the soul of the student with a good attitude, as well as aptitude.

A recent decision made impacting all students taking asynchronous classes was made this week. The…read moreimplementation of the decision, as well as the decision itself was clearly not well thought out, forcefully and abruptly put in place during the seventh week of the Spring 2025 semester. That is the seventh week of a sixteen week semester. The decision directly conflicts with most course syllabi by way of materially changing the requirements of courses nearly half way completed. The change implements a test proctoring requirement where previously this requirement was unavailable, non-functioning or not required. Being that the requirement was unfairly implemented, it leaves students no opportunity to withdraw and receive a refund due to the very late notification and poorly planned timing. Due to this, students are subjected to unfair practices added after they have completed substantial course work or withdrawal with financial loss in tuition and materials. In addition, asynchronous courses as advertised and as described in Palomar course catalogs are intended to be without scheduling requirements for meeting or other activities. Palomar students depend on this type of course delivery to attend classes due to other time commitments such as children, family, work, etc. The poor timing and lack of consideration of the implementation of scheduled test proctoring is a very questionable endeavor.

My certifications expired in 2011, and since I needed to be recertified, I returned to A B CPR. My instructor this time was CJ, and she was just as knowledgeable and funny as Tricia, telling us stories and jokes about her experiences. Both times I went to the Mission Valley location, because it was the most convenient for me. They're the most reasonable place to get your certifications, and you can pay from their website by PayPal.

Being harsh, and always wants everything to be perfect. She stresses out students and makes students lives more exhausting than they need to be. She'll make students late to lunch almost everyday cause we aren't being 'quiet' enough. If the line isn't perfect, or someone whispers, someone maybe even steps too loud, we get sent back to the classroom. The latest Ive been late to lunch was 15 minutes, leaving only 5 minutes left for lunch. The aces name is Ms. Delacruz. Only 2 breaks throughout the day. My last year at springs wasn't good either, I got harassed at this school for 3 straight months, my teachers, and principal was aware of it all, plus my parent went in with me to the school to talk to the principle about it. Nothing was done. Non stop bullying, and I felt alone. Faculty does nothing to help students. Don't send your kids to springs.

Recently, I needed to re-new my CPR/First Aid certification and I stumbled on Confidence in Emergency Response Training. In the past the classes I have taken seem to drag on, but when in class with Scott, it seemed to fly by. I asked some tough questions regarding specific situations (I have faced at work) and Scott was very informative and explained each question until I completely understood. I have recommended many people to take classes with Scott, as he is not only informative but humorous. When it is time for me to re-new my certification I will re-new with Confidence in Emergency Response Training.
