I feel like I need to preface this review with a few disclaimers. Often times people look at me and…read moreassume I am a rock star. I assure you I am not. In fact, my only musical ability is singing like a maniac in my car, or the occasional karaoke post crawfish boil. So basically what I am saying is that I don't know a piccolo from an oboe. I visited Lanier because my oldest child decided to bust a violin string. I think she did it on purpose because she wanted to quit violin, but I was determined to get it fixed. I found strings on Amazon and almost bought them. Before I did I realized I didn't know the first thing about changing violin strings. Lanier is packed with musical equipment. It was a little overwhelming. I must have had that deer in the headlights look because after a few minutes someone walked up and asked what we needed. They had the string in stock and were able to change it out pretty quickly. I remember thinking it was more expensive than ordering online but I gladly paid knowing it was done right. If you need something and have no idea what it is, Lanier will hook you up.

As a Funko pop collector, this was very disappointing to see that they changed the Disney display. Well, Sheryl and the gang at Uptown Music Exchange have taken up that torch of offering a fantastic experience and support for local musicians. What really makes them stand out is that they are the only place in town still offering instrument repairs IN HOUSE. And they are all locally owned and operated. What more could you ask for?

Located in a brightly colored building on Frenchmen Street (corner of Frenchmen St. & Decatur St.), LMF is one of the longest running record stores in New Orleans. LMF definitely has an old-school record store vibe to it - minus the old musty smell and w/ the modern day comfort of ac. Trust me when I say that you'll for sure want to spend hours at this local NOLA gem, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to visit. LMF has a huge inventory of vinyl records and cds (old and new - all genres, including a great assortment of local New Orleans music) that are neatly organized and reasonably priced. It also carries musical posters, books, and shirts. There is also a Yelp perk of getting $2 off a t-shirt when you check-in on Yelp. Lastly, shout-out to the LMF employees who were very helpful during our visit - very much appreciated! Till next time, Rebecca

Not once did they call me to give me a quote, when they originally said they would call with a quote within 2 days. I had to call, the quote was $60 for a deep take apart cleaning, I made sure I repeated the deep cleaning, they said yes. Again no phone call, we had to call several times for several days to see if it was ready. When we picked it up, it looked untouched. They tried to blame it on me that I didn't give them enough time, when I clearly checked the time frame before I even brought it to them. Then said if they had more time they could have done a deep cleaning. That is not what was told to me the several different times I specifically asked. DO NOT use this place EVER! They lie, they are rude and unprofessional and I will do all I can to make sure no one ever goes there. If they had a negative star option, I would give it NEGATIVE STARS!!
