Stamm Dental has done a really good job at implementing COVID mitigation protocols. I'm so thankful for this as I was way overdue for a check up and cleaning; apparently my coffee intake has increased significantly from working from home. I had been going to Stamm for cleanings for a while without issue, and each time I would go in they pushed Invisalign, telling me my bite was off and if I didn't fix it, my front teeth would eventually chip because they were making so much contact. It would be a year or so of treatment. Fast forward 4 years and I'm left in a lurch. The treatment caused terrible TMJ for a few years. My jaw was locking up, it was painful. They referred me to Dr. Stamm's sister Chrissy, their in-house chiropractor. I spent hundreds on their recommendation there, and it did nothing to resolve the issues. They then referred me to a jaw specialist working out of Stamm's husband's office. Keeping business in the family, I guess. They said they would cover the cost of the TMJ device there. Luckily the TMJ guy was actually skilled and the locking resolved. However, this whole process left me with a posterior open bite. My front teeth are now the only teeth that touch, the molars don't make contact. I now need to go to an orthodontist elsewhere to correct the issues this office caused. I paid Stamm thousands of dollars for years of pain. They now claim the TMJ device her husband's office gave me cost them 4K and are unwilling to refund more than $900 of what I paid citing the cost difference there. I guess Mr. Stamm gets to keep that profit, good for him. It will cost me another 7K for further treatment to correct all that went wrong. If you're interested in Invisalign, go to an actual orthodontist, not a dentist moonlighting as one who views patients as walking paychecks. Aside from the Invisalign fiasco, this office is also the only one I've ever been to to say that I needed 8 fillings at once. With previous dentists and since I've left with my new dentist, I've never needed that much work. It makes me wonder if I had unnecessary work done, if their office is extra aggressive so they make profit. Their sales tactics with Invisalign certainly makes me think so now. You want to trust your providers, which is why I listened to their recommendations but I regret it and wish I would have known better with this office. read more

I came to Stamm dental during a short trip back to the states from abroad. They were recommended by my aunt and boy am I glad she did! During the exam they found three cavities of which I am convinced were missed during my last exam with my old dentist. They treated me that day because they knew I wasn't in town for long. They numbed me up pretty good and while I watched some Seinfeld on their Netflix account I got all the work done that I needed with minimal pain. They explained pricing to me upfront and even were able to see me same day for a dental emergency I had the previous day with my wire retainer. A nice, clean, modern practice with free parking and extremely friendly staff. I had Dr Hicks for both of my visits and she was excellent, efficient, and very kind! Dr. Smiley is awesome! My temporary crown fell off and because of a COVID 19 scare (on my end) I was not able to keep my appointment the week between Christmas and New Years. So Dr Smiley came in on New Year's Day with no one else in the office to make me a new temporary crown! I'd also like to mention, this is a tricky tooth to work with and Dr. Smiley went the extra extra mile to fit my temporary on perfect. It feels great and I can eat normally again. read more

Went in for dental implants, explained my credit, past dentist, etc. Set up a payment plan w/ a deposit of 3,500. Told I would have noxious gas wasn't given any at the time of my extraction. No meds called ahead, waited in the lobby 30 mins before my ride was called. Today was told I needed to refinance knowing I explained my credit situation. Informed the dentist I spoke with didn't understand the billing process along with front desk staff. I work 3 jobs & have a sped child so my down time is limited. So I guess it's my fault they didn't honor the oral contract against the written one. I'm left toothless because I BELIEVED them in honoring the plan and my situation from cancer. read more

There were several excellent male dentists and female hygienists in this office, but they all seem to disappear rather quickly. Dr. Stamm told me today what I just read in some of the above reviews, that my bite is wearing down my front teeth. There were three women standing over me-telling me how terrible my bite was as I lay on the dentist's chair a few weeks ago, I felt ganged up on. I came back today for that interview with Dr. Stamm hoping to get a bit clamp, the hygienist asked how old my crowns were, it seems they want to redo some crowns for cosmetic reasons. I was also told I needed braces to stop the wear on my teeth. I have had lots of dental work have never been told my teeth had wore through the first layer, that I need braces to correct my worn teeth nor have I ever had a dentist who wants to replace crowns unless there is decay or they are broken. read more

I came in for an Invisalign transfer consult and had an okay but someone unprofessional experience with a tech who seems frazzled and unprepared for my appointment. After the appointment, I was supposed to get a call with a quote within a few days but never received the call. I called them and left a message, after no call back, I called again a week later and talked to someone who said that the person who handled Invisalign would call me back. I am very anxious about dental work and chose Stamm in 2012 because their name came up after a "painless dentistry" search. The reviews were decent so I scheduled an appointment. I'd been out of work and not seen a dentist in 2 years, so I was dreading what they may find. Sure enough I needed lots of work: a deep cleaning, old cavities to replace, new cavities to fill, and a couple of crowns. They also said my bite was causing my lower teeth to hit my upper teeth and cause them to chip and wear so suggested braces, something they continue to bring up at every visit. I got all the work minus braces done, paid about 3k and other than the expense and was happy with the proceedures and results. After not going to Stamm since January out of Covid19 fear, I went for a cleaning in December. As usual, I needed more work, this time 4 fillings and a crown. I'd been having some minor sensitivity after the last crown they did, but was assured the pain was from a large cavity nearby. After a super quick and easy cleaning, I was taken to their financial room where I was given a 3700 quote and invited to pay half up front. My insurance would cover 1000 but I was left with 2600 to cover on my own. I wanted to break the work up, half in the 2020 insurance year the rest in the 2021 insurance year but they coudn't fit me into the schdule before 12/31. In a panic, I called my boyfriend's dentist who was able to get me in the next day to get the cavities filled. He reviewed Stamm's xrays, took his own for free, and poked around in my mouth but couldn't find ANY work that needed to be done. He also didn't charge me for the visit. I am VERY disheartened that Stamm's assessment was so drastically different than the other dentist. I am very unhappy about all the money spent and procedures endured, but I am most upset that I stressed over and over year after year through Stamm's proceedures that my mouth was falling apart. I'm left wondering how many holes were unecessarily put in my teeth. Disappointed to say the very least. read more

I tried calling the Invisalign coordinator to get my husband's Invisalign transferred to our new dentist. I left multiple messages at the front desk. No one returned my call. This was after my husband tried to get it switched for over a year. He was repeatedly met with resistance (it is complicated, costs money, can't do it), ignored, and told "next visit is your last visit", for over a year. Please, do not go to Stamm dental. My wife referred me here while Dr. Kai still worked here. At first the cleanings were great. I eventually got convinced to do Invisalign to fix my bite, and the experience was pretty much downhill from there. After we moved 2 hours away (2 years ago), I tried to get my Invisalign case transferred to a local dentist, which was dismissed for the reason that I was "almost done" with treatment. I have been "almost done" for 2 years now, and still working on coordinating the transfer to avoid taking an entire day off work for an appointment (which I cannot do any more). I decided to leave this practice for several reasons. My regular hygienist, Julie left- and she was one of the main reasons I stayed there. I felt like I was always being sold something when I was there, and didn't like that. I also had a really hard time getting appointments. I went in one time for a cleaning, and there wasn't even a dentist there. They said they would review my xrays and let me know if there was anything alarming. I found that incredibly unprofessional that they didn't call me to inform me there would be no dentist present at my appointment. I am 51 and have been a patient at Stamm Dental for roughly 6 years and they are the 1st and only practice that truly cared about me and my dental phobias; I lost my phobia pretty much the day I stepped into their office. Today they showed care and compassion that only a family member or loved one would give, they actually empathized with me when they found out all the medical issues that have bombarded me for the last couple years. Easy and honest as that - get a second opinion. _______________ It's been years since I was a patient at Stamm Dental, but I never forgot the place. Now, with enough dental history to be sure I wasn't dealt with honestly, I'm writing this review. I highly recommend that, if/when you feel uneasy about a quote from Stamm Dental, you seek out a second opinion. And don't just rely on my review - read the many others who confirm that "over diagnosis" and tough upsell is a pretty common issue here. On my first visit, Dr. Stamm told me I had FOURTEEN cavities. YIKES. I was terrified, as prior to that I'd only had one cavity in my life (I was 28 at the time). It should have been a huge red flag, but I had been out of work (in college) for the previous 2 years and hadn't been to the dentist. I wondered, had things in my mouth really gone so wrong? Anyway, one of the women from the front desk came back into the exam room to explain what I needed, and said she had talked to my insurance company - it was covered. I immediately made an appointment to have four filled. Dr. Stamm did that, and - credit where credit is due - it was pretty painless. That is, until I got up to the front desk. The woman there, who had previously told me that insurance WAS covering the fillings now said they weren't. The problem? The woman who came back and quoted me while I was in the exam room had quoted me on silver fillings - not porcelain, which is what Dr Stamm did (and, of course, what I would have wanted - but I also would have wanted an honest quote... ie, your insurance will cover silver, but not porcelain - silver is covered, porcelain is much more expensive. It will cost you $XXX.xx - I would have spaced out the procedures if I had known it would be so expensive). So, if you decide to have work done here, know exactly what you want and GET YOUR QUOTE IN WRITING. Find out what they're planning to do, and compare it to what you want done. Then, definitely DON'T TRUST Stamm Dental to call your insurance company and verify coverage - you MUST do it yourself. I expressed my concern over the bait-and-switch to the front desk, but they weren't concerned. They were flat out rude. Oh well, enough with this place. I paid, I left, I never went back. In the seven years since, I've had two different dentists and ONE cavity, and one old filling that had to be replaced. So, those other 10 cavities Stamm Dental wanted to fill? I guess they went away on their own... magic. I would really recommend staying away from this place. Based on my experience, it feels like I was scammed. read more
