This is the place for tourist information in lovely Berchtesgaden, Germany! We arrived fairly tired…read moreafter a long drive down from Frankfurt, but excited to arrive. As this was my first trip back to my birthland and given that I am a history freak, I was anxious to find out when we could go up to the Eagle's Nest. Our hotel was just around the roundabout from the Tourist Center, so a very easy walk. They didn't open as early as I would have liked, but you can chalk that up to my exuberance. The folks inside were very nice and knowledgeable, and patient with me as I tried to speak German. They spoke English, so all was well! Turns out the tours up to the Eagle's Nest opened the very next day (what luck!) and we were on one of the first tours. The great folks here told us we had time to drive out to Konigsee prior to the bus leaving. I was very happy that they took the time to help us spend our time seeing what we could see while in Berchtesgaden. Definitely stop by the Tourist Center on your visit to Berchtesgaden!

Follow the sign for a 5 minute walk to the pier, past all the tourist shops, and you'll find the ticket kiosk. Here you can buy a round trip ticket for a ride on the Konigssee, one of the most beautiful places on earth, including the St. Bartholomew church. You can make stops to go hiking if you like. Just astonishing beauty.
