Great venue! About an hour and 1/2 drive from our house in Niedernhausen, but well worth it…read more My daughter wanted to see a live musical, so... Rocky Horror Show it was. Despite the nose bleed seats, a great view. I seriously don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Whether it's a musical, a play, or a rock concert, I think you'll be pleased with this venue. Parking was even easy... Prost!

Some reviews deserve a context…read more.. The man asked what I wanted to do for my birthday. I do not celebrate birthdays, sometimes I do not even remember it until the last minute. However, I said I would like to see Sade when she goes on tour in 2011 because only Lord knows when she will go on tour again. It's been 10 years since her last tour, and I missed the last one because I was in an inaccessible country at that time. I told him I am not missing her this time. Normal people, who are not crazy, will wait for their favorite artist to come to town (or a nearby town) and see him/her. Not us! We are two crazy guys, we don't do things normally. Instead of waiting for Sade to come to Chicago in August, the man bought me tickets to see her on the exact day of my birth (in May). The only issue: the concert is in Cologne, Germany. Kinda far from Chicago. Not the kind to flinch at such decisions, we hopped on a plane and flew to Cologne (there were other European cities to be visited on the trip, but that is a separate topic). The concert took place at the Lanxess arena, which leads us to the review at hand... Located on the east side of the Rhine, Lanxess arena is a moderately sized venue. It pales in comparison to the huge arenas we have in the US (United Center, Staples Center etc), but this is Europe, things are not as big as the US. They are just well designed and pretty. The acoustics were perfect. Lighting arrangements added an extra punch to the show. We had excellent seats, just a few rows from the stage and the view was spectacular. Sade brought the crowd to their feet swaying in harmony. I have never seen a more sophisticated and classy concert in my life. Vendors selling pretzels and beer, clean bathrooms and orderly crowd made the experience better. This would be a five star concert venue if not for the small projection screens. People in the US have TVs bigger than the screens inside Lanxess. Best birthday ever!

I came here with a buddy of mine to watch Manchester United take on Bayer Leverkusen in UCL play…read more The stadium is pretty nice from the outside as we walked towards it. It was a bit weird though walking through a fully wooded park from the train station to get to the stadium. Once we got there, we got to our seats then visited the concessions. I hate this Bundesliga system of having to buy a debit card to purchase anything. They charge you a ridiculous fee just for the card, but you can turn that card in after the match to get your money back. What they don't tell you is that the line to turn your card back in is ridiculously long. Our seats were pretty comfortable and we got a great view of the match from behind the south end. The away fans were put into the corner to the left of us and they were loud & clear in their chants (of course it helped that they were dominating). The food was alright here, but the beer sucked. They only had bitburger even though their signed said they had kolsch. Also, no one here seemed to really speak English or at least pretended like they didn't which I was really surprised.

Would highly recommend the Premium VIP Lounge West, it's such an awesome place to hang out before…read moreand after the game and eat some awesome food-- I was told when we got there that the food they have for each of the games are dependent on the team Leverkusen is playing that day...which I thought was pretty cool.

Ok this arena kinda sucks lol. Has a huge floor so I guess that is good for concert goers who want…read moreto be on the floor. The backstage is old and beat. Small rooms. Most without bathrooms. Not an ideal load in/our venue. Takes a while for trucks to get in and out. Sound wise it's a very boomy room. Not the best for concerts. Not sure why I am writing this review haha. Oh well.

The Sportpaleis is Antwerps biggest concert hall. All major artists tend to come here instead of…read moreVorst Nationaal, the main music hall in our capital Brussels. I believe acoustics are better in Antwerp than in Vorst. It can hold maximum 18.400 people and that's A LOT. Imagine traffic around this ugly building... I would never want to live in this neighborhood, but yet this is a very crowded area. Here are some tips... Traffic - AVOID THE CAR - parking is hell and LEAVING the PARKING IS HELL (takes a lot of time) - you must pay, anywhere you park - take the tram! It's also veeery crowded but it's fast. - you can also park a little further and then walk. Please do understand that a little further means like minimum 1 km further, not around the corner. EVERYTHING IS JAMMED around the Sportpaleis, believe me Scheduling - please be on time, if doors open at 18h, there will already be people waiting - if you have standing places, be there when doors open - for seating places count on 30' before the show starts Tickets - look up THE PLAN ONLINE to see where which zone is - don't buy them at the door, there are always people trying to buy & sell tickets but it can happen that they are FAKE (and you don't want that) Sound - please TAKE EARPLUGS. It can be so loud in there! You don't want to waste your ears. - I am used to the acoustics in this hall but if you compare it to for example the smaller AB in Brussels, this sounds "terrible". It's good for big shows but please, if an artist like John Legend for example would be performing here, it wouldn't be rightful. Price - tickets for music shows are very expensive in general but it depends on the artist Food & drinks - it's affordable. You can pay cash at one of the many bars - bars are on level zero and on the first floor - you can eat something indoors but there are also a lot of kebab & pizza places outside the Sportpaleis - generally they don't check your bag so I always take my own bottle of water or something to eat
