Every destination was thoughtfully chosen and truly breathtaking. The excursions and recommendations for things to do were out of this world far beyond what we could have imagined. Every detail, from flight timings and connections to ground transport, was flawlessly coordinated. The entire trip flowed seamlessly, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy the journey. What really stood out was how the team managed to create an experience that felt both luxurious and personal. We made magical memories that we'll treasure for a lifetime, and the only thing I would change is wishing we could have stayed longer. Laura and the entire team were incredible attentive, professional, and genuinely passionate about creating unforgettable travel experiences. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I think this was partly because I'd been bombarded with STA Travel banter while I was at university, with it being a travel agent specialising in youth and student travel and all that jazz. The idea of a round the world ticket has been my prospective get out of being an adult option for ages, and I am not lying when I say that I think about walking into STA Travel and just booking said ticket and leaving a farewell note on the kitchen table, everytime I pass its doors. When I finally figure out how to save money, I'll be legging it straight down here for the golden ticket to recklessness and sunshine, but for now, a couple of trips abroad, for a few months at a time after I finished uni, have done the job. The staff at this branch of STA were super helpful at assisting me with both of these trips, and seeing as they're all pretty young, and have done a substantial amount of travelling themselves, it's quite an inspiring place to come and get advice from people you can relate to, if you're young that is. I have just edged out of the "Youth" category, (*holds back the tears and the wrinkles*) but there are still some good flight deals and information to be had from the staff here, even if I am no longer classed as young.

I get annoyed with STA travel easily. There seems to be a growing competition about who had the…read moremost exotic and extreme gap year/ vacation. OK rant over. This branch seems to have constant clientele (or at least 4 months ago) and even though the people at the desk are friendly it seems to have a rather long waiting time. Plus you never really know who is next in line which can make it awkward. I was there to book a ticket home and was amongst people clutching fliers for exotic treks across Australia and walks across the Andes. The girl was friendly but told me to check their website as they don't usually cater for just flights (what I wanted) more they to tailor match full holidays. According to my friend who used them for her holiday in South America they were very helpful indeed. So my advice would be check their website first, it's what they seem to do anyway. Or try KAYAK for just flights and save you the waiting time. My friend who booked her round the world ticket said they were great for that. I guess it depends for what you want to do.

I've never really understood the need for a travel agent. My travel style is general to book cheap,…read moresnag an airbnb and wing it, so i've never really needed the promise of a 7 night tour to whatsit or a charming romantic country bed and breakfast get away. Until I decided that I too, would become one of the all inclusive junkies. I work a rather hectic job and as much as I love the bustle of vacationing in a new city, my travel style isn't really relaxing. Generally, I spend most of my vacation days at full tilt trying to see and eat as much as possible. But as I started looking at the upcoming year, I realized I might fancy sitting on a beach, eating buffet food, getting drinks brought to me and generally unplugging. It took 30 years but I finally understand the appeal of the "sit and do nothing" vacation. But the thing is, the "sit and do nothing" is much harder to find then the "book and explore willy nilly vacation". My go-to sites for flights suddenly became a huge, confusing wave of information when I wanted to book an all inclusive, lazy vacation. Jimmy Martin is right down the street from my house and I walk by it all the time, so I decided to take a sneak peek at their website first. It's a good website - clean, easy to navigate and has some pretty snazzy deals. It was enough to warrant a stop in for more information. My stop was quick, but the folks here were really helpful. I travel solo mostly, and all inclusives can be a pain in the butt to book for one person but they gave me some really useful tips/options, without making me feel like a leper for wanting to beach vacation solo. I was only in for a few minutes, but left with a few new places to consider and plans to return at a later date after snooping locations on their website to talk about booking something concrete. I'm not sure if a travel agent is going to be something that replaces my age old habit of internet surfing vacations, but in this particular instance, I think they may become my go-to for the rare lazy travel. If you seek a travel agent - they are very nice and worth chatting with/snooping online.

I don't know what the Co-op is like with regards to travel but I have recently re-discovered how great it is to walk into a place and have someone capable give you what you want with informed, friendly helpfulness. Duncan at Flightcentre has become "our travel agent". (That still feels like a swanky, grown-up sentence, like saying "I've been to Paris every year I've been in the UK"... When you come from a country where there are no other countries bordering your own, the UK is part of Europe and Europe is exotic! But I digress....) Last year when we needed urgent flights for a family tragedy, Duncan just made it happen. He was great; the right amount of compassionate, efficient, helpful. When we decided to organise holidays this year, we headed straight back to him. He is a font of knowledge on Latin America, the Arctic and Antarctic (much to my envy!) and is helping us book an amazing trip to Cuba and Costa Rica later this year. It's been great talking to someone who's going to give us all the options of independent travel or a package and give us insight how best to make the most of our time and budget. He's also probably a bit of an expert on Australia, come to think of it - maybe being Australian is where his healthy dose of cheekiness comes from!

Essentially the centre will tell you where streets are, which buses to get when to where, how to get to any of the cities tourist attractions. It also serves as a booking office for some of the cities tours and day excursions. They also provide office services, like printing and photocopying (not exactly sure why). You will also find a gift shop. Not surprising in Edinburgh for anything remotely related to tourism. Although this is actually not your usually tacky trash. Expect some tasteful thistle mugs and saltire stationery. I have to concur with the others though, this place can get crowded fast, and during the festival period don't expect to be able to get in the door after early morning.

One word of advice though, get there nice and early as there it can get excruciatingly congested with swathes of tourists - which I suppose is expected as it's every tourists instinctive information provider.
