I've spent the last two days with my 92-year-old grandmother at the Little Rock hospital, and the care has been unacceptable. The nurse assigned to her was consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. The hospitalist never came by today. She was taken off her urinary collection device and left in a soiled brief all day without being checked. Even more alarming, she was admitted on Saturday and did not receive food, water, or IV fluids until Monday lunch--almost 48 hours later. The staff also ignored sutures from a head injury that were due for removal at admission. By day 10, her skin had started healing over them, and when the nurse finally removed them, it was painful and pulled out wads of her hair. This is not basic, safe patient care. My family and I are extremely disappointed. 10/10 do not recommend. read more

My 94-year-old Mother-in-law was recently there for emergency care and admitted. They failed to give her home medications for three days. She has several heart conditions which then led to shortness of breath, etc. They would not come to take her to the restroom and she was having diarrhea, therefore would have accidents in the bed and lay there until someone finally came to change the bed. They then started putting her in diapers but still would not come to take her to the restroom. One time she waited two hours for a Tylenol. This is not everything but it paints a pretty vivid picture of the lack of care. read more

Staff is great. However, the bathroom floors are so slick with "cleaner" you have to be VERY careful not to slide. The worst thing is, they force you to watch "the view" on the tv in the lobby, and that is just short of hell on earth. read more

My 93 year old grandmother fell after losing her footing twice outside her house on first the concrete, then when trying to get herself up and into the house, a second time on the concrete steps. Obviously, she is beat the hell, big knot and bruise on her forehead, arm completely skinned and open on one side, and in an inordinate amount of pain. Arrived by ambulance with horrible bruising to her head, the torn arm (full length) and she had passed out for an unknown amount of time She was in care and complained about severe pain in stomach and back. CT scan was done. Arm was stitched. Keep in mind she's 93, and fragile. They sent her home after roughly 4 hours. Family begged them to keep her for observation overnight at least for her safety and our peace of mind, and we were declined that service. read more

I was rushed to wake up off of whatever meds they gave me I never spoke to a doctor or have any idea what the problem was or any aftercare was. They threatened to push me out in the waiting room still not lucid if I didn't waje up and cooperate with them on getting nd a ride home to which I did half ass wake up which she thej told me that Benadryl kicked my ass but wheeled me out there anyways and then didn't keep my property with me so now my backpack with all .y medicine is lost in the hospital. Anywhere else I would have e been checked in to inpatient. They had me leave feeling the same way I felt when I arrived except worse bc now my left arm is dead from sleeping in a wheelchair I'm guessing unless I had a stroke I don't know. read more

If zero stars was an option that's what I would be leaving here. My experience with Dr. Adam Chandler at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock was beyond disappointing--it was unacceptable. This doctor showed a shocking lack of professionalism by yelling at my little sister and even having the audacity to say she was 'wasting his time.' No patient should ever be made to feel like an inconvenience, especially when they're seeking help from a professional. This type of behavior is a red flag, not only for Dr. Chandler but also for St. Vincent Hospital if they continue to employ someone who treats vulnerable patients with such disregard. A doctor's role is to heal, support, and listen--not to intimidate, dismiss, or belittle. How can we trust a hospital that allows this behavior to go unchecked? I urge St. Vincent to re-evaluate their standards for patient care and demand better from their staff. And I encourage anyone who's experienced similar treatment at this facility to speak up. This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. Had a heart cath. The medicine to relax me and pain medicine was not getting into my arm. I begged for help and thought I would have a heart attack because the pain was so bad. Only a student nurse was concerned about my shock and cry In out. I told them I could not stand the pain but no one even showed concern for my pain. I pleaded for some help, but no one would do anything until after an hour the student nurse asked them for nitrogen that was at the very end but did help. I will never go near that place again. The after care no one believed me. I would give them a no star if I could. read more

Care quality could be improved. Very odd place as it was my first time there and for surgery. It's like an institution and strange how things are set up once you leave the main area. After surgery and was being moved onto my bed in room, had someone that was rough and could care less I guess. Later I saw an obvious bruises on my legs, a scratch on my back that was deep. I did not have surgery in either place. Bad experience with getting an IV, wound up with 3 sticks and bruises. First nurse was rude and couldn't do it. Second nurse was kind and got it after 2 tries. I had an appointment in nuclear medicine earlier at 6 am there I was never made aware of. Probably one of my doctor's fault. Wouldn't go there again for anything. I plan to stick to Baptist or Cabot ER. read more

This hospital is one of the worst ones I have seen. Nursing staff is fine communication is terrible. My father was brought here with a broken hip and femur. He is 91 years old, his surgery has been bumped at least 5 times since he was brought in. Each time we were not notified of a reason or even that it was bumped. The Dr said this is not a surgery that could be put off but here we are being bumped again. I really give it a minus 10. read more

Worst medical experience of my life! 7 HOURS in ER. There were only 4 people working the entire time we were there and the place was packed. I was in terrible pain, vomiting and crying when we arrived. I have severe stomach issues (Colitis, diverticulitis and IBS). Doctor said he would order me nausea meds and a pain shot. HE NEVER DID! I ended up ON THE FLOOR of the bathroom for 2 hours. Finally got a CAT scan after 5 HOURS, was sent to wait another hour before Doctor told me to go home and drink MINERAL OIL. Waited another 2 HOURS to be discharged before I ripped out my IV and my husband had to carry me out. NEVER AGAIN. read more

(I am fully insured) After the insurance company paid the bill, it was determined that my obligation to the St Vincents was only $1100. St Vincent Hospital is now dragging their feet in refunding this dramatic overpayment, saying that I should receive the refund in 45-60 days - after they demanded IMMEDIATE pre-payment from me! My sister had brain surgery here two times. We have loved Dr. D, and many of the nurses. That is the only reason I am giving this a two rating.. Depressing experience at the St. Vincent E.R. I'm giving this place an extra star because the physician seemed knowledgeable. Aside from the nice RN, who was wearing his mask under his chin, the other employees had a defensive and rude attitude. As I sat outside on the concrete curb (no chairs of course) I watched one huge employee play with her hair for a good two hours. Most of the patients, about eight I'd say, were neither wearing masks nor being told to. In the exam room there were splats of blood under the broken down bed. The room was old and dirty. read more

The moment my mom and I entered the hospital we were treated very rudely. Other visitors and patients were treated the same way. My surgery time was 10:30 and finally was admitted around 11:30. All staff from the pre-opt to the surgery room were very caring and awesome. After surgery I was admitted to a room and FOUR HOURS later my mom finally found me. She was never contacted I was in a room. My mom is 88 years old and never should have been treated this way much less anyone else. My room was not clean. The bathroom was dirty, and the previous patient's bedding was thrown in the corner of my room. This is all my FIRST DAY experience. DAY TWO - Around 8:30 am I asked when breakfast would be served, and the nurse replied whenever the kitchen wanted to deliver breakfast. 9:30 I told the nurse I hadn't received breakfast, and she said she would check on it. 10:30 I explained to another nurse I still hadn't received breakfast and her exact quote was "that makes me mad". I nicely told her if I hadn't received breakfast by 11:00, I would be calling the administrator. At 11:10 I called the administrator's office and a nice lady was shocked by what I had experienced. I asked that she not bring breakfast but bring lunch. Shortly she brought me a tray. I explained about the dirty room and a man came into the room and said he had inspected the room earlier and it was clean. My mom said that was not true, that the used bedding was on the floor. As far as the meal problem, I feel it was done on purpose. This saddens my heart to think other patients are treated this way. Patients are not they for fun. They are there because they are sick. Several of the nurses, not all, confessed to be Christians, but they definitely did not have a Jesus spirit. read more

So far so good. This is my first time here (visiting my dad). I wasn't in the front door more than 30 seconds before a priest was asking me if I needed help. I guess he could tell I was a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out where to go. Very nice facility. Staff is nice and appears qualified. Regardless, if you or someone you know is hospitalized be sure you have a health care advocate (wingman) with you or them. Hospitals in my opinion treat patients too generically. Everyone is different and what works with one person doesn't always work with the next. read more

I have been for over 3.5 hours for a simple pre-op appointment. I am STILL waiting! No one knows anything and can't answer simple questions. So here I sit waiting for a Dr (maybe). This should be a simple process...no reason a pre-op should take more than 3 hours and that's being generous. You all need to figure out WHY your system is not working rather than throw your hands up in frustration. Go to UAMS if you can....at least they are polite and efficient! read more

I took my spouse to St. Vincent (2nd time) for more surgery. She is on a walker so we needed a wheel chair. There were three in the lobby but no one seemed to care if we got one or not. I assisted her to check in and after 30 minutes they did finally bring a wheel chair, now the only problem was that the person pushing the wheel chair didn't know where to go and took us to the wrong Operating Room (O.R.). Instead of taking us to the 2nd floor he took her to the ground floor. After 30 more minutes, I finally found someone who could get us to the correct floor for her surgery. What a mess!!!! read more

ED: Dr. Rose & Bridget, RN had us on dayshift (2/6/21) in the ED. But, all the staff coordinated well as a team to take care of my son. All the staff were very kind, gentle, understanding of my sons special needs, and excellent at establishing rapport. They ensured he was comfortable with all procedures being done. I especially like that they included my son in his medical care by speaking directly to him (regardless of him not understanding everything). They took extra time to make him smile and laugh. They made the 2.5 hour drive to be seen by a specific specialist worth it. Excellent team! Dr. Law & Keisha, RN had us on the night shift (2/6/21) in the ED. Our interactions were limited as we were only waiting for a MedSurg bed at the time of their shift start. They continued providing great care and made sure my sons needs were meet. Thank you! MedSurg-3N Unit: RN on night shift (2/6/21) assigned to my son was great. She was pleasant, explained things well, and made sure all my sons needs were met. Kris RN day shift nurse (2/7/21) very pleasant & excellent at establishing rapport with myself & son. He went above and beyond with explaining things, answering questions, and familiarizing me with various aspects of care and medical staff. Ranae (2/7/21) the patient care tech was very sweet and gentle. Really took her time with him. Lab tech morning of 2/7/21....excellent!!!! To know my son is to know that drawing blood is a major ordeal. Eight staff hold him down type of ordeal! But, not this time. :)) She was so calm and pleasant that he allowed her to draw blood without and struggle, anxiety, protest. Fantastic job!!!!!! Dr. Lee Raley. The surgeon we made the 2.5 hour journey to see came to see us the morning of 2/7/21. :)) Very pleasant. Excellent bedside manor. Great at putting me at easy. Really listened to me concerning my sons history with his current issue. Thank you for taking into consideration what I felt my son needed & the importance of when he received surgery. Although you wore a mask, I could see your smile through your eyes. Thank you for being kind and understanding. Thank you for getting his surgery scheduled promptly. Surgery 2/11/21 ... Every one we came in contact with was excellent. Starting with the ladies at the entrance who took our temperatures to the lady that registered us to the lady in the surgery waiting area who walked us back to the surgery prep area to the nurses who cared for my son in the surgery prep area. Thank you all for being kind, gentle, and treating my son (the patient) with respect and dignity. The surgery nurse and nurse anesthesiologist that came to the surgery prep area to take him back to surgery... great at explaining what was to come. Made sure I didn't have any questions. Made my son feel comfortable/at ease. The surgery nurse said to my son "I know you don't know me. But, trust me. I'm going to take great care of you." My son and I both smiled. He nodded okay. That moment. Those words.... meant a lot to me. She kept that promise! Dr. Raley. I know my son has a long road ahead. More appointments. More procedures. More of everything. But, I look forward to you continuing his continuity of care. Thank you for starting the process of identifying what my sons issues are so that he can live a long & productive life. My husband had a procedure in the Radiology Dept. After we parked in the parking garage, a gentleman offered us a ride to the entrance on a multi passenger golf cart, used for that purpose. We very much appreciated that because we've never been there and it was quite a distance for my husband to walk, I knew he couldn't walk that far. He was very kind. As we entered the front entrance, we talked to a woman at the first desk and she directed us to just across from her, to a window and seating area. She too was very kind and helpful! My husband sat and I went to one of the ladies at the window. She too, was kind and friendly. We had a balance and she asked if we wanted to pay then or set up a payment. We opted to pay then. I read one review that said they demanded payment, that did not happen to us. We encountered no rude or unfriending person. Everyone asked if he needed a wheelchair, even a worker passing us in the hall, because of the way he was walking. The ladies at the Radiology window was nice, helpful and very friendly. After the procedure they called me to get the car and as I got to the entrance, the same woman asked if I would like her to call for me a ride to my car, which I did. I wanted to add this review because I had read so many negative reviews. Our experience could not have been better from every person we encountered! Thank you to each person! read more

Last night I had an unpleasant experience at the St. Vincent Emergency Room with a neighbor. The two sloppy looking employees at the front desk talked constantly to each other while patients were waiting. This meant that one employee was at the reception desk, the other with her back to the door. When patients arrived, she was forced to turn around and seemed resentful about that. They were not what you'd call customer friendly. As another Yelper mentioned, the place was dirty and few patients were wearing masks. Employees seemed to think this was perfectly OK. We got standard treatment, which took much longer than necessary. Does the Health Department look the other way or what? read more

Takes an act of congress to get anything done in this place. Surgery scheduled for 9:30 am Check in at 7:50 a few minutes late due to traffic problems.....30 yes I said 30 minutes in admissions because me MUST verify insurance to be sure the bill gets paid. Down to outpatient - 10 minutes on waiting - back upstairs to radiology - we need an X-ray before surgery - we passed radiology on the way to outpatient. Back to Outpatient - more waiting - it is now 9:15 - surgery is in 15 minutes, no IV, have not seen a nurse....guess I will hurry up and wait. I was already not impressed after waiting 5 hours in the ER waiting room before being taken to the back and then another 3 hours before being admitted. My grandpa had HORRIBLE care in this hospital right before he passed away. These were the last few days we had with him and they were spent in constant worry because of the incompetent staff at this hospital. This week, just a few short months after his passing, my grandmother went in for a ROUTINE (we were told they do 5-6 a day) procedure where she ended up literally on her death bed as her blood pressure bottomed out and she had massive internal bleeding. All the while, nurses and staff were sitting at the desk ignoring the alarms on her monitor. If it hadn't been for our family members being there and demanding help, we would be burying her also. I don't know where or what these people are talking about. I must be them with the negative comments about CHI St. Vincent. I have been in the ER and also had many surgeries at this hospital and it is the best. I can compare it with hospitals that I have been to out of state and this is the best hospital and their employees have all treated me with the best of care. I just don't know why someone would not like the professional care given at this hospital unless it is them and their attitude against CHI St. Vincent. If you don't like this hospital go somewhere else. There are plenty of people that want the excellent care given at CHI St. Vincent. read more

Nurse Tim in the ER took care of me...he has amazing bedside manner. He constantly made me feel like everything was going to be alright.
