St. Thomas the Apostle in Hyde Park, IL was an excellent experience for me and I did like wearing the uniforms because it kept us disciplined and there was no competition for what one wore to school. I wanted to become a nun and that was how influencing this school was to me. I'd give this school 10 stars if I could. I loved the diversity of the student body and we all got along as peacefully as any school could be. Sure there were times of disagreements between students, but the flare-ups wouldn't last very long because the Sisters kept us in line. We had mass and religion classes which I enjoyed very much. The teaching was out standing and I even got to perform in the music classes through student performances that we had throughout the year. I was very happy to be transferred from the previous school I attended ( Murray School where there was a lot of violence and misfits and wasn't a very good school at all). I began St. Thomas when I was in the third grade and remained there ever since. I am proud to have been a student at St. Thomas and it has an excellent following which is well deserved. My entire family attended St. Thomas and the more family members who attended, the lower the tuition was. What can I say, I have fond memories of St. Thomas and I attended one of their 30 year reunions where all of the students in the past 30 years came to celebrate their memories of the school. I met with a few of my fellow students and they turned out to be very successful in their careers and in their lives as a result of being a student. We all did. Hats off to St. Thomas and every child should have this experience to attend here. Thank you very much for being able to review this great school. I also agree with "St. Thomas T." who also wrote a fine review about the school and I have tried to send a compliment to he/she about their glorious review. I appreciated this school and I disagree with the two posts who wrote opposing reviews about the school. Like I wrote earlier, I have very fond memories of this school and if I had children, I'd send them to this school with out a second thought. I am not from Beverly Hills, CA and I don't know why this is written beneath my initials. I am from Chicago, IL and I now live in Lake County, IL. I miss Hyde Park very much, it was a great neighbourhood to grow up in with excellent schools. If I could, I'd move back to Hyde Park right now on the same block and in the same house I lived in. Hyde Park is a great neighbourhood filled with beauty and diversity at its finest and it reflected St. Thomas in just that way. read more
