I accidentally found this church while passing through Bath, North Carolina. What I learned is St. Thomas Episcopal Church is a historic church on Craven @ Harding Street . The church building was constructed in 1734 and is the oldest surviving church building in North Carolina. They still continue service to this day and the congregation keeps the church open to the public on a daily.
The oldest grave site marker I could find was 1888. Some grave markers only have initials or logos and over time some of the older markers were extremely difficult to read. The church is well maintained especially for its age and type of brick and mortar used during its construction. read more
