I have been a parishioner of this church for 8 years, and it has been an amazing experience. The community is very friendly, including the priests, deacons, greeters, and everyone else, who have all been very inviting. For example, Father Vacaro is known to take families out to dinner. That's just one of many examples I can think of off the top of my head. This church is so good that it won the 'Best Place to Worship' and beat non-profit organizations in Ashburn for 2026! Debunking false reviews: 1.) I saw a review from a non-Catholic Christian complaining about the church receiving communion. If they knew about the Catholic church, they would understand we take communion very seriously. Please look into it. 2.) I saw a review claiming that the parish repeatedly requests donations. In my 8 years here, that has never been a problem, and I don't think anyone would target you specifically without reason. That is all the debunking I will do for today. Have a good day. read more

This Church is ABSOLUTELY beautiful! Someone 3 months ago gave a 1 star rating btw that is bs... she's Anglican (not Catholic) and got upset that she was rejected communion. Of course she was, she's not Catholic. Anglican is very close to Catholicism but it is NOT Catholic. We take the Eucharist very seriously, it's not simply symbolic... in any case, my wife and I visited this church for Mass while on vacation in Virginia and we felt very close to our Lord. Amazing parish that is faithful and prayerful. The daily mass times make it easy to make it to mass everyday.

We used to go to OLGC in Vienna, which was an exceptional church with a great pastor. When we moved to Ashburn we started going to St. Teresa. While it's a beautiful church, it feels very cold and formal. They like to use incense - lots of it- along with the long versions of ceremonies and prayers. The Pastor seems ok, but the other priests have not impressed me with their sermons. While OLGC has both boy and girl altar servers, this church uses only boys. Is that deliberate? lol. read more

I am a born Christian with strong Christian faith of age 62 years and also went through necessary communion needs through one of the Anglican churches and got communion eligibility certificate at my age of 18 years as well. But when I attends one of the private weddings in this church, Pastor publicly asked me are you catholic when I was attending to receive communion, when I say no, Pastor just rejected in front of everyone in the entire wedding ceremony. But When Pastor calls for the people to come to communion, Pastor said Catholic and all believers in Jesus Christ to come front for communion. I have attended many of the catholic churches and told them I am a Christian (never say catholic or Protestant). They honored with love. But this church Pastor is not... Please try to love all Christians. Don't show hatreds towards non catholic. Please try to follow what Christ teaches. I wouldn't recommend this church for Christ Jesus lovers. read more

Beautiful Church. Young "crowd" (congregation), beautiful decor and reverent set up. This Church serves the attached school and local community, the priests here are lively and in touch with both their Catholic tradition as well as with promoting active participation in life with faith and courage. Many peers growing up near DC have settled out in the Ashburn area and send their kids to the school and belong to the parish. read more

My son and I sometimes go here when we can't make it to St. Joe's - our church we've gone to the last 13+ years. He's gone to the SJS school and now PVI. I enjoy St. Theresa's as it's a beautiful church. The priests have been nice as well. I just wanted to give a good recommendation because some of these reviews - albeit several years ago - are quite questionable. Who complains about parents taking children to mass? Seriously? Maybe they need to take a minute and think about the reason for attending church to begin with. Or be thankful parents actually care enough to take them. God knows the country has been moving further and further away from having a little Jesus in their life. read more

Gospel today was quite proud unfortunately there are some parents who would like their children to come to mass and I quite get that it's a great experience on the other hand if they're incompetent enough to even grasp the sense of religion let alone their underwear maybe they should wait for a later day to understand the word of God and not have to re-Kavic in the mass while people were trying to pay attention. read more

After reading some of the reviews, I thought a parishioner should leave one. I am sorry some people had a negative experience. St. Theresa Catholic Church serves a very large congregation. Masses are offered 5 times on Sunday and once on Saturday evening. There is a very large religious education program in addition to the school that teaches kindergarten through 8th grade. It is a beautiful church with careful, faithful liturgy. read more

My ex-wife is in nursing home in Leesburg and is in the last stages of a very long illness. I called the church and asked if someone could administer the sacrament of the sick. Father Barnes provided the sacrament to her the same day I called even after going to the wrong facility because of a miscommunication. He was a great listener and filled with compassion. This church is an embarrassment and the antithesis of caring and welcoming! A family member visited this church when we moved to the area to gather information and ask about for guidance on a godparent role he was asked to fill for his friend. The church denied help toward godparent information as our family was not yet members (or some other reasons). And to top it off, the church gathered our address and now sends us donation requests REGULARLY! How rude and inconsiderate! Gaining funds for their organization is obviously a top priority OVER the care and nurturing of humans and families in their community. We will be looking and offering our support elsewhere. read more

The hypocrisy of this parish! How does a Catholic Church turn it's own members away and be ok with it? I mean the receptionist is one thing but when Father comes out and turns you away personally just because you're not from the area is a whole different picture painted entirely. I was born and raised as a catholic and hold the church and the personnel who run it to a higher moral standard. I wasn't asking for money or a handout I was simply asking for a piece of paper to be signed so I could be a sponsor for my sisters new born son when he is baptized. We love St. Teresa Church, especially the pastor Fr. Guest. This parish has an unusually large number of adult education classes on many interesting Catholic religious topics, many intellectually stimulating and seldom found elsewhere such as Dante's Divine Comedy and the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins. There is 24/7 Eucharistic Adoration in a separate chapel allowing for prayer in the Real Presence at any time day or night. read more

This is the best parish we have ever attended. The worship is reverent and beautiful; the Adoration Chapel is a source of endless graces and a constant call to conversion; the range of spiritual formation and service activities is the most extensive we've ever seen. The clergy are kind and responsive, and the homilies are well-prepared. The people are friendly and eager to help. I'd say "as good as it gets," but there's always room for growth and the good news is the place is growing in spirit, in mission, and in numbers. If you are looking for a dynamic parish where you can grow in your faith and be positively supported in it, this is your place. read more

In AUG 2014, I took my kids to take an assessment test for Religious Education. They had just started doing construction in front of the church and the school. The kids and I buzzed the side door, and a very stern-faced, stout man opens the door and barks, "Were the cones up?" I said yes, (a little shocked and scared that I just unknowingly committed a felony.) He continued with the nasty tone, "did you come from that way?" i said yes, and then realized that my kids were behind me, and probably scared too, so I moved through him and to the R.E. office still in disbelief. I'm not feeling a sincere welcoming community here, but maybe just the nature of the people of the North-East? (I know, not everyone.) ;-) read more

My family and I came from a small church in Reston called st. Thomas a becket where I practically grew up in. So when we moved to Ashburn we switched to this church. Honestly the only one that is nice is the young priest with the beard ( if he hasn't shaved it) but their Knights of Columbus are very rude. My mother and I were waiting for the next mass and decided to walk around and give their pancake breakfast a look to see if we would want to go next time. When we entered the cafeteria they literally looked at us from head to toe and looked the other way as if we didn't exist; no good morning or any sort of acknowledgement but expected a donation. Also the other downside to this church is their leader that in charge of the ccd classes is very rude and easily agitated. My niece was suppose to have her confirmation and he said okay you just have to take this class, so she did. Just to then receive a phone call saying she has to take three more classes when he never even mentioned it in the first place because he was getting frustrated with our questions. Oh and for donations make sure you complete their thanksgiving list cause if not they won't accept it either. We were donating food and the lady was like "is it complete cause if it's not we aren't gonna accept the food." This church is literally ran like a bank, it's pretty on the outside and it's decor is beautiful but their personalities and the people that help run that church are so nasty and rude that it feels very unwelcoming unless you make a 100k and up salary read more

I agree with the other reviews, this does not seem like a welcoming community church. We have visited this church a couple of times trying to decide if we should register as parishioners and volunteer on some of their activities in this church. Every visit we have had so far has been very unfriendly and unwelcoming - unforgettable unpleasant experience. The "greeters at the door" look at us from head to foot and when I greeted them they did not even respond. Why do they even have "greeters" if they do not greet people. Instead they gave you pouty and unfriendly looks. One of the ushers (wearing glasses) was very insensitive and rude. I used to think that people who volunteer to do stuff in churches are welcoming, kind, considerate, friendly, and accommodating. But my experience in this church has definitely changed that perception. When I saw volunteers who were hauling bags of food for donations, I thought they were the generous and kind type people, but apparently they were just showing off that they volunteer and help people. The truth is they are mean, unfriendly, and unkind, they are mad when you get in their way as if you were slowing them down with their volunteering. I sure do not want to be a part of this community and volunteering if parishioners and volunteers are going to treat people that way. It is very sad that people (I'm not saying all) - they act religious, they go to church but they are unkind, insensitive, inconsiderate, aggressive, and untruthful. What's the point of going to church if you are going to behave that way? People who are going through a very difficult time and when "greeters" and "ushers" in churches are rude, unfriendly, and unwelcoming, that just make people feel really down and over the edge. What happened to the good Samaritans, welcoming, warm hearted, kind, honest and sincere religious people? read more
