I had the pleasure of visiting St. Sylvester parish for the first time as a bridesmaid and wedding guest. The parish is a Catholic church located in the Logan Square neighborhood offering masses in both English and Spanish.
The architecture within it's confines is a sight to behold. Wood accents grace the ceilings and the stunning polychromatic stained glass windows display catholic saints. Hand carved wooden illustrations depicting stations of the cross line the sides of the walls. At the apse of the church, the ornamental ivory tabernacle made for a beautiful backdrop. This marked the spot where a large amount of photos were taken.
Reverend Mukundi presided over the ceremony. He was patient with the bridal party during rehearsal and made a careful effort to queue us. In fact, he made us go through rehearsal twice so we were comfortable enough to know where and when we were supposed to be at all times; ensuring the entire ceremony was fluid, organized, and natural.
Parking is available in the front of the church but can quickly fill up during peak hours. Additional parking can be found in the actual parking lot located behind the parish. read more
