This has been our church for several years. I cannot believe these two reviews were based solely on…read morethe condition of the sidewalk in the winter 4-5 years ago, a broken water pipe the City of Boston was responsible for and cleared up. What about a current review based on actually ATTENDING a 10 AM service on Sunday, from someone who actually went INSIDE the place? lol I'm a transplant to Boston and I loved this church from the first time I attended several years ago. It's an old building, not very fancy inside (although there are some beautiful stained glass windows) but it is mainly about the people. I have found a welcoming community and enjoyed the sermons. My husband used to only attend church on Easter and Christmas but he now attends regularly because of the pastor, Tom Griffith (great guy). Tom is currently holding a series of discussions welcoming all to come and respectfully discuss SEX. C'mon, how many pastors do that?! I am just happy we found a church my whole family likes. They have a wonderful Sunday school program for children and a nurturing nursery for infants. I really hope this review gets posted, I see 14 others have not. Yelp please be fair and show another side of this place beside a formerly slippery sidewalk. Many thanks :)

REAL COMFORT FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!…read more I used to eat at food from this church when they were located in the South End. As a graduate student, there was some days that I needed a home cooked meal. Some days my only option was to visit THE CHURCH! The ladies behind the counters were always smiling and being friendly. Always a real comforting feeling in a sometimes cold city. The church has since relocated. They are now at 206 Seaver Street in the Roxbury/Dorchester neighborhood. The church now overlooks the Franklin Park Zoo. This used to be a Jewish Temple when this neighborhood was predominately Jewish. Okay back to the food. Revisited the new location recently. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. The little church with dinners in the basement has grown up. It is now a huge beautiful church with a cafeteria in the basement. Wider selection of options. The food is still delicious. All kinds of meats, prepared in different ways, grilled, barbecued, baked, fried with plenty of sides. In the Southern tradition, there is a fish fry on Fridays. All the dinners range from $6-$8. The same pleasant faces behind the counter. The place is spacious. Lots of tables and very clean. The parking is off street parking. Just drive to the back of the back of the parking lot and enter the Glass Blue door.

Community and authenticity are stressed and communicated/adopted well by most of the members. Key points: - Average age is about 28 - Multi-ethnic, but mostly Asian - Age groups include: many children including newborns up to until elementary kids, a solid group of college students, many young adults and young married couples, and solid group of married couples with children who are very involved in the church - Part of the ECC (Evangelical Covenant Church) - Most who attend are local in Brookline and Allston-Brighton Area - Small groups central part of church's mission - Contemporary worship service with talented full band - Free brunch after service, cooked by servant team - Size is about 100-200 every Sunday - Pastoral Staff is usually around 4-5 - Many opportunities to serve - All small groups are cross-lifestage and are not gender-limited One takeaway I will never forget is my small group, which I consider my second family.
