I'm in my 30s and was raised Catholic, and was pretty certain of what I want and Don't want i a church. The community is very diverse; a little over 100 people in attendance, all races, a lot of working teachers and retired school personnel, and a growing population of families with babies to high schoolers. Even though the community and the sermons are very contemporary and progressive, there is something familiar and nice about the old traditional feel of the stained glass, the choir, and the pews. It's a place where everyone is welcome and you can dress as comfortably or as flamboyantly as you'd like. They feed the community every Wednesday, giving a hot meal, clothing, and toiletries to whoever needs it. They also host free medical/dental events every other week. Whenever there is a progressive rally or march, the church tends to host the meeting point with snacks and water bottles. Besides volunteering, there is a lot of social activities, concerts, potlucks, movie nights, book clubs, and guest speakers from the University and other non-profits. Sunday Parking is easy and free, right out front, if you get there around 9:40, unless there is the occasional Downtown event. I would recommend this church to anyone looking to join a new church in Riverside.

The layout of the church is circular and the font is at the back. Entering the church, you have a view of the beautiful altar and large stained glass crucifix, and the choir section off to the left. Being so spacious, the acoustics can sound a bit sloppy but given the right sound system settings, it can sound beautiful. There are plenty of parking spaces here. I've been coming here for two years now and I feel blessed to say I will finally be baptized. Wonderful people wonderful friends a wonderful community thrives here. I cannot emphasize enough how welcoming this church has been to me and is like another part of my family I am deeply grateful for the openness and excepting Ness of this church and everything it stands for. I highly encourage anyone who is interested in orthodoxy or who has never been to an Orthodox church come and see for yourself even out of curiosity after liturgy on Sundays there is always an agape meal and a wonderful bookstore here come and see for yourself and be humbled by the wonderful community and hospitality here.

I am so grateful for my fiancé for introducing me to this wonderful church. It added even more peace and calm to my life. Coming from India, I was introduced to meditation when I was merely 17 years old and that completely changed my life but I never really understood how my father could pray for 3-4 hours. I would find praying really boring because I didn't feel anything. St George's Episcopal Church completely flipped that around for me. The reason for that is because I wasn't seen as someone who isn't from here and yet I was fully accepted at the church which is how I always thought about God but I could never find that in any of the religious places, not even in my own country. I was going to try to keep this short but I think more people need to know this. I am so comfortable at this church that I can take part in the communion without being baptized. Not just that but when I decide to do get baptized I wouldn't have to give up my religion. God would never want any of us to give up our religion (no matter what religion it is) or stop wanting us to be who we are. This is what the church has to offer you and more. That's how I know this is the right place for everybody to be. We are like a family there and everybody is loving and accepting of everybody, no matter what part of the world you are from.
