(Please note that technically St Moores no longers exists as they were bought by Charters Estate Agents in 2022, however the latter took on St Moores' staff and property portfolio).
I could write an essay on this company, but to summarise: . They breached the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 on two 'misleading omissions' counts i.e. not informing me aboit serious issues with property (a heating system that tenant have no control over and planned building works). This includes on their lettings adverts, viewings and during the sign-up process. I told them that I am a f/t home worker and they somehow forgot to tell me that for half the tenacy the landlord would be conducting extrmeely noisy works all day long.
. Excessive heat in the flat which regularly exceeded 25°, the recommended maximum under the Human Health and Safety Rating System rules, as incorporated into the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.
. Poor health and safety practices by workers on site, including scaffolding erected in such a manner that tenants cannot open their windows (also posing a serious risk in the even of a fire) and water and wet cement left on the stairwells, posing a slip hazard, wand water saturation of stairwell and upper flats, posing a mould hazard.
. Breaching the tenancy agreement by not providing notice of planned viewings.
I could go on - washing machine not installed correctly (almost ruining expensive clothes), sending a threatening letter to my guarantor parents about the rent not being paid (when it had been), rude customer service. Absolutely vile company dedicated the ripping off tenants for as much as they can take. read more
