This church is located north of Chicago in Evanston, IL which is a suburb of Chicago. I drove down from Ohio with some women from various Northeast Ohio Vineyard churches. CONFERENCE - The 2025 Vineyard Women's conference was amazing. It was 3 days and 2 nights. The conference was broke down into morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. The conference was filled with fellowship (praise and worship), learning God's word through hearing speakers in large and small group settings, connecting with other women, small group discussions, and prayer time. During the conference, there were breaks scheduled through the day for lunch, snacks, and dinner. CHURCH -- The church itself is fairly big inside with plenty of parking outside on a parking lot. As I walked in each day of the MORE conference, I was greeted by either church staff or the National Vineyard Women's committee staff. The church has lots of ministries for members to get actively involved with, such as Bible studies and volunteer opportunities. I enjoyed visiting Vineyard Church in Evanston and I had a wonderful time at the MORE Women's Conference. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 142/250 total reviews in 2026 - 983 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 25 June 2026

The church meets in the lower level of the Fountain Square building at the intersection of Sherman and Davis in downtown Evanston. It's a small space, but not crowded. On the walls hang art, all of which was painted by people in the church. The music is a blend of contemporary worship songs and older hymns. It sometimes has a bluegrass feel, and is played well. A lot of the musicians are Northwestern students and it's not uncommon to see a violin-cello, saxophone, or washboard in the band. Around 1/3 of the attendees are undergrad students, around 1/3 are young singles or couples, and the rest are older. Lunch is always provided by the church Sundays after service. It's a great time to get to know people there. The church currently has three small-group Bible studies, one of which meets on Wednesday nights and reads Bible stories to build up the larger story-arc of the Bible. The other two meet on Thursday nights. One is for men, studying Ephesians. The other is for women, and I don't know what they are studying. The church tries to be good citizens of Evanston, taking part in community functions, cleaning up litter in alleys (Alley-Sheep) and Christmas caroling around Evanston. The pastor holds a PhD in Philosophy from Vanderbilt. He currently spends half his weeks in Louisville, KY teaching ethics and apologetics at a seminary and half his weeks in Evanston. The church doctrine states that Jesus Christ and the straightforward teaching of the Bible is life transforming. Some might call that conservative, others might describe it differently.

G-SPOT and his family as a whole and team for generations have been very supportive to every community they have touched or resided in. G-Spot's mother is an alumni we are proud of from Saint Scholastica Chicago IL. Jane Byrne was the first women and Roman Catholic to be elected Mayor of a major city (Chicago) in the United States and an alumni we are also proud of. At the age of ten years old, DJ G-Spot received the honor and EMBLEM of "Parvuli Dei". The "Parvuli Dei' is a program developed by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS) for Bear and Webelos Cub Scouts of the Catholic Faith. The "Parvuli Dei" is a parish and family oriented mission in which the Cub Scout works with his parents and church to help the young boy explore a wide range of activities in order to discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of their family and parish, and also to develop a good positive self-image through the contribution they can make to God, the group and community. In Hawaii alone, DJ G-Spot has done fundraisers, volunteered and worked with and for numerous charities for decades including: The Hawaii Food Bank, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Eagle Scouts Projects, University of Hawaii 'AIDS Project Fund', Life Foundation, Non-profit community Radio essential fundraising, University of Hawaii 'Centennial Campaign', ....,, Honolulu Academy of the Arts, countless environmental groups. {Documentation can easily be provided}. For specifics, one community service he has spearheaded in Hawaii is "Shelter Alliance", where he collects mobile phones from persons who have purchased a new cell phone and the safety communication device is given to women who are not able to purchase or obtain one; via 'Hawaii State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Honolulu HI'. Again it is with pleasure that we recommend DJ G-Spot to you for your positive consideration of his application on anything he fills the paperwork out on. Should you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us. I have faith that whatever if any help he receives will come back to the community (10) ten-fold. The (3) three years G-Spot was at St Nicholas Roman Catholic Church as a Cub Scout he came in (1st) first place (2) two of the (3) three years and (2nd) second place in the State one of the (3) three years. He also humbly won best design (3) three of three years.

With the leadership of the outstanding rector, Rev. Kat Banakis, St. Luke's has expanded its programming with a plethora of options for people of all age groups, interests, and life stages. St. Luke's has long been known for its historic Skinner Opus 327 organ and its accomplished choir. In addition to the 10:00 AM Choral Eucharist (also streamed online), St. Luke's offers musical programming throughout the year, and it is also known as a music venue for secular performances. The parish has a well-earned reputation for social justice activism and community engagement. There are many opportunities for members to serve and a majority of St. Lukers are active participants in a ministry. While St. Luke's is an Episcopal parish, many parishioners come from diverse faith backgrounds, and there is more than a modicum of ethnic, racial, and socio-economic diversity often absent in American churches. Although the congregation is decidedly progressive and open in orientation, I think that freethinking believers and seekers of all political, philosophical, and theological persuasions can find belonging, meaning, and acceptance within the community. After cycling through and exploring many different faith communities and traditions, and having witnessed more than ten years of change and progress in the St. Luke's community, I have never been prouder to call St. Luke's my spiritual home.
