This school is amazing. I've started this school in kindergarten and now I'm in 7 grade. Their systems are all broken. Their bus system started out fantastic and 1 week into the year they lost our driver. Who was replaced two weeks later. After about 2 more weeks we lost our route for the rest of the year. So a 20 minute ride turned into 45 each way. Unbelievably inconvenient and shows an inability to problem solve on the administration front. The bully system, also severely broken. I probably should have led with that however, im not sure any school is fully free from this. But after reporting 3 incidents and being told it will be dealt with we finally had enough and pulled all 3 kids from their clutches. Not only was my daughter being physically assaulted on a daily basis but even the teachers were diminishing their spirits and im not sure its ok to make kids eat lunch in silence every single day. Not allowed to speak during what should be a free period To top it off once we asked for our transfer paperwork they dropped the case and said its no longer relevant because we are switching schools. So the bullies face zero consequences and will move onto their next victim. Unfathomable. Disgusting and ludicrous! IEP system. Lets start by saying they approved 2/3 for my kids. Now let's get to the nitty gritty. The head district iep lady literally commented to my wife in an incredibly sarcastic manner that she should know all about iep's because one of our kids has one, than proceeded to laugh indignantly. Disgusting behavior which no one in the room, and in said room are top school officials, said a damn thing. Pathetic really. Our kids need extra assistance so instead of providing that in an inviting fashion they chose to make fun of us! Shame on all of you. Truth is, its a blessing in disguise because after returning home from their first day of school my kids are over joyed to be in a loving cradling environment! Keep your kids away from this shit hole! FACTS!!!!!!

We feel so grateful to have found The Starfish Academy! We toured most of the preschools in the…read morearea from North Port to Sarasota. As first time parents, we had extremely high standards for our child's first school experience. Most of the schools were very underwhelming, with crowded classrooms and not the cleanest of environments. After we toured Starfish, I couldn't wait to ask for an application. The class sizes are perfect, small, tailored so you know your child is getting the one on one attention they need and deserve. The teachers are so, so warm and inviting. They made us feel like home. The school is extremely clean, organized and we especially loved their montessori style learning centers. Our son receives speech and occupational therapy which they have on site. No longer did we have to pick him up early from school to run around trying to get to all of his appointments. His therapists are literal angels! The amount of progress he has made since starting at this school is something we could have only dreamed of. You can tell that every team member is truly invested in the children's growth. They don't bat an eye at helping with potty training, trouble with naps, picky eating etc. They have always been more than willing to help with anything we suggest and with open arms and a smile. We cannot recommend the Starfish Academy enough. It's exceeded all of our expectations and more

The Starfish Academy needs to be shut down and reviewed for ethical violations. My experience has…read morebeen horrific and it has given me an alarming concerning for the families who bring their children to Starfish Academy. I removed my child from enrollment multiple times (as her attendance is a violation of our families Parenting Plan), yet the facility is so desperate for headcount that they allow for her to be dropped off by her father, despite multiple attorneys, judges, and even a mother requesting for this to stop. Their staff has been absent upon check ins and front desk unaccountable. There are dangerous play spaces that lack cleanliness, and don't even have sunshades to protect against the Florida sun. The rooms that have no windows and smell of fecal matter. Also, they have unaccounted for adults "work with' children, blurring the line between mental health facility and daycare. My child was injured multiple times, and even with fever without the school notifying me. I would think twice about this facility as it is unsafe and I've personally found it to be functioning without ethics.

They reported me to DCF stating that my son had burns marks on his skin, that he doesn't seem to get baths at home, that he was dirty , and that the home is hazardous and not safe for my one year old. (Because of the appearance of his eczema) This was after his first day of being there!! I was already afraid to leave him because I didn't like the vibe I was getting and they didn't seem as sincere as I would have liked trying to make me feel like I'm over reacting for being afraid to leave my son after being a stay at home mom. I messaged the co-director all day to check on him and she stated he was fine. I know my child and I know he wasn't as fine as she made him seem. He wasn't as social and he didn't eat his meals very much that were provided. This I know for sure because I primarily breastfeed him and he doesn't like certain Whole Foods. This is to be expected so I'm not upset about it but she didn't let me know the truth. My son came home super hungry after daycare so I knew he didn't really accept the food. I had to ask the worker again the next day did he really eat his food and she said oh why ? And then when I told her why she said well no not really he looked at it and pushed it away ! I could have purchased little meals that he likes an brought them in to avoid him not eating. Also I shouldn't have to keep probing someone to tell the simple truth. The second day I dropped him off he had an extra outfit in his bag for emergencies and the pants where a little to big around his waist because he's still a little small for a 1 year old. Long story short he ended up popping up his back and had to change and the worker called and said he needed another outfit to change into because the pants were too big. I took her another outfit within 20 minutes ! This was only the second day. Around 11 am DCF showed up to my job to question me. They also came out to the home today to view everything. They stated the home was perfectly fine and that they checked with his Dr and confirmed his skin condition and medication/treatment plan. I also provided the daycare with his medication and informed them of his condition and they still called DCF with false claims. My son is fine and the case is closed. I removed my son from this daycare and again from my personal experience I feel that I wasn't communicated with at all with any concerns. They teachers smiled and acting like everything was okay. Also I tried to speak with the Co-Director about my concerns she said she didn't know what I was talking about and that I needed to leave and she called the sheriff. I told her I was going to post my review and she said that's fine because I wasn't telling the truth. Again this is my personal experience and I do not recommend them . I wasted my money. I didn't receive any communication and after I tried to voice my opinion the director continued to tell me to leave. But apparently they had plenty of time to send a report to DCF.
