If it comes to the Paulus Dome in Muenster, I'd like to come to a very special detail. My favourite…read moredetail in the dome is an everybody's tip, even if this everybody is not interested in church history, holy Marias, jewels, gold and all this stuff. My tip: Go to the Dome in Muenster and look at the Astronomic Watch. Since 1540 (Yes you see right) this watch runs and runs and runs, showing the time bang to the minute. Not easy to educe evidence, because there is no easy way to read this watch at all. Let me help you: The huge watch hand (with the Sun) is the hour hand. It runs left way. You see the rome ciphers I-XII two times on the outer circle (Yes, there is a 3 AM and a 3 PM). On this outer circle you see as well red and white altering degree marks 360 for the complete circle. Follow my calculation: If the hand runs the circle in 24 hours (what is 1440 minutes) and the circle has 360 degrees . . . . . yes: then one mark is four minutes (1440/360=4). Sure this secret knowledge helps you to read the time and impress whoever is around you. If you are looking for minute and Second hands (hups is this the term???! I didn't know a second hand shop is selling watch components: - 0 Your Language is very funny; I'm still learning) ). But you find indications for the moon phase, the position of planets, the zodiac signs and so on. Most impressive: Since 1540 it shows the bank holidays (Easter, Pentecoast and so on ) But the clock builders will fail. In the year 2071 it has to be recalibrated, no joke ;-) Every 15 minutes the time god chronos is moving the hour glass and Mr. Death is ringing the bell to remind us, that our time isnn't endless. Every day at noon the holy kings run their journey to the Jesus child with a lot of jingle jangle. By the way: This is the second clock. The first has been destroyed by the Munester Anabaptists in 1534. So do not touch this one. You have heard, what happened with those guys . . . . . .
