As you head away from Acland Street as you have walked the beachfront; now its time to experience St Kilda Pier with a kiosk at the end of the short trek into the pier as you reach the marina. A word of warming; cyclists should dismount, and it is also advisable not to run here. The pier gets very windy regardless of the weather at the time; and please remember your sunscreen on a warm day. The wind will blow you around a bit as your walking to and from the beach. If you love the water and/or water views, give St Kilda Pier a go. It is a beautiful walk to immerse yourself in treeless nature. The view of the city skyline on your left as your heading back to the beach is beautiful; even a glimpse of the MCG where the bright lights are evident with AFL Grand Final fever at the time I walked through this pier. As you head to the kiosk, keep going and you might discover some little penguins (no photography allowed) in the daytime, although in saying this you might be better off going to the pier at night as the penguins would come alive then; just like they do at Phillip Island.

At the end of the pier a beautiful view into the city.

I made my way up and down St Kilda pier several times during my week long stay in Melbourne. For one it was an enjoyable jog along the pier and down to the dock where some of the boats pull in. There were many people walking the pier at night but it was fairly quiet in the morning. There's a restaurant at the end that I never made it to that seemed to draw a fairly fun weekend crowd. At the end of the pier along a dirt path there are the native protected penguins that come in from hunting at night. I stumbled upon this by mistake but it was a fun event none the less. They have guides that are there to explain the habitat that the penguins live in and how they maintain it. Overall the pier was fun to see if you're by St. Kilda beach but not worth visiting on its own.

A great spot for locals and tourists, the St Kilda Pier is a nice way to spend an hour or two. Walk the full length, grab a hot chocolate from the kiosk and then wander down to the rocky area where, if you time it right, you might spy some of the baby penguins that come here each evening.

Nice place for a walk in a sunny day. It has great views of Melbourne CBD, but sometimes it is very windy.

Have a seat on the pier, feeling ocean breeze while you rest your eyes by looking out the sea and the city in the distance.

This was unexpectedly one of the best things I ate on my entire 2 week Australia trip!! I'm not even a big fan of mussels.... but at the market I noticed everyone was sitting at tables just eating mussels out of a big bowl? Such a random meal choice so figured it's gotta be good. Went up to order and there were so many different options I just asked the guy working there what he recommends. He suggested the chili coconut mussels which was not the one I would have picked on my own but went with it. Oh my god these mussels changed my life LOL. They were SO big, plump, juicy, and packed with so much flavor!!! The chili coconut sauce almost reminded me a bit of a curry sauce, not very spicy and very flavorful and it was perfect to mop up with the yummy bread on top. It was so good I'm literally drooling writing this review a year later and I have not had any mussels that can even begin to compare!!!! If I get to visit Australia again I am 10000% hunting down this mussel food truck as soon as I get there!

It's more than what businesses are here though. The very heart and culture of St Kilda exists more in Acland and Fitzroy streets than anywhere else. Acland pays homage to the cultural, avante guarde quirkiness that makes St Kilda one of the greatest places in the world. Whenever I plan on going for a walk along the beach, Acland street is included in that. Actors, models, sportstars all congregate here, so you never know what you might find or who you may meet! Food, beauty, fashion, atmosphere. Oh yeah - there's a Coles and Woolies along here too, just in case you need them!

Lots of vacant shops, places to get a decent coffee or fancy cocktails in this SY strip of Chapel St are few and far between. Lots of shops to buy polyester clothing if you're into that. Most exciting thing to happen this year on this strip was the fire above cafe Sienna. And that's saying something. Not going to miss the parking officers, the attention-seekers on their over-powered bikes and in their yellow and red Lamborghini's (parked in all of the no standing zones of course)... Nor will I miss the puke on the streets on my early Sunday morning walk or the hotels dumping glass bottles into their bins at two AM. Saying that, I will actually miss B'Stilla, G-Star & Market Lane plus my walks to the lovely Fawkner park... But I shall come to visit you guys so don't worry. I think I've overstayed my welcome. If you do not have much money to spend and/or you are not in the mood to go shopping; well then forget about it. Save your visit to Chapel Street for another time. This experience is not to be rushed either; it is meant to be enjoyed and appreciated at a slowish pace; so make a day out of this experience on your day off. I am not joking about the money part. You need to also be in the mood to reward yourself for all your hard work; otherwise the experience will be made redundant. The vibe is like a visa platinum credit card with a credit limit of anywhere from $20,000 upwards. South Yarra is a great, trendy area (kind of like Newtown in Sydney) yet it is expensive. You could even live in the city on less rent than what your might have to pay to live in this area. I love Chapel Street, and it is usually always on the agenda of visitors to Melbourne in particular: not many people visit Melbourne without having to visit Chapel Street; and it is also a common theme among the locals who are in the mood for a great day out.

I didn't know anything about 'Me, Earl and the Dying Girl' going in, which was a fun way to approach a film in a time where the Internet usually ruins half a film for you before you see it (*shakes fist at Internet and tells it to get off my lawn*). It was a really touching coming-of-age tale that subverts the usual clichés and aims for a greater truth about love and loss in the adolescent years, all with an off-beat but real sense of humour rare in such 'teen films'.
