Yesterday, a close family friend commented that he has noticed a significant growth in confidence, composure and maturity in my 2 kids since he first met them last summer. We train at least 2 days a week. During each class for every age group, there is a character lesson of the week. Lessons like, how to make a SMART goal, how to be gracious receiving Christmas gifts you already have or don't want, trick or treating safety, what to do if someone bullies you, etc. I love that all of these life skills are immediately applicable. I love that training at Tersak's is more than karate and self defense, it is also leadership and character building. A few months after both kids started training, I joined in. My husband followed 2 months later. Now we do the Open Family class together every Saturday morning (along with tons of other families). I also train in Adult class 1-3 times per week. I am building adult friendships for Me. I am honing my body for Me. My kids can see me as an example of consistency, dedication and doing hard things. And, we spend family time together doing something active and without screens. Two of my favorite "extracurricular" karate events at Tersak's were Family Board Breaking Night and the Spring Tournament. I also really enjoy the festive events like Trunk or Treat and Easter Egg Hunt! The people here are good people. I am so thankful the Abitria family told me to check out this dojo. Here are friends I will be keeping long term!

Some were serious and others were just there being themselves! Students of all ages were there. Male and female... they had different levels so I felt a person wouldn't feel intimidated or embarrassed for lack of skill. Pretty cool experience in my opinion.

My daughter has been training here for 10 remarkable years. During that time she has experienced &…read moregained so many valuable life skills and qualities, that have been a great asset for her while she continues to learn and that will help tremendously with all her future endeavors. My child has ADHD so at an early age through martial arts and Karate America's training strategies & principles it has helped her develop the necessary abilities to focus, pay attention and to have self-discipline (without the use of medication). In return this has helped her be academically successful in school. Something that parents who have ADHD children may struggle with every day. This is the main reason why we joined this sport to begin with however little did I know that it would become even greater than that. It has been a fundamental avenue for her to obtain social skills, confidence, fitness, self-defense, leadership, personal goal-setting and lifelong friendships. Her taekwondo friends have become family to her. It's rare that you'll find another sport where you have a blend of all ages training amongst each other with diverse backgrounds and it's all because they share the same passion & love for the sport. Karate America is part of the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) which is one of the largest Taekwondo organizations in the country and it is affiliated with Songham Taekwondo Federation (STF) and World Tradition Taekwondo Federation (WTTU). Combined that makes it one of the largest of Taekwondo organizations in the world. ATA holds competitive tournaments all over the country that we've been fortunate enough to be able to participate in. Having this amazing platform we've traveled around the US to meet and make new friends from near and far, give her experiences that she may have not of had otherwise and to compete with her fellow team mates. Karate America not only has been a positive outlet for her but it has become her second home. The chief instructor at this location Mr. Gaston Lopez and his staff are entirely devoted and truly care about each student. Nothing makes them happier to help their students reach their short term and long term goals. Mr. Lopez is not just a teacher but a wonderful mentor. The staff attend frequent training seminars for continuing education and practice so that their technique and curriculum is always top notch. They also have an excellent leadership program that establishes trainee instructors to become qualified & certified ATA taekwondo instructors. This is something my daughter has been able to successfully partake in too and she absolutely loves being able to share her knowledge with other students, that has been passed down to her from her instructor. There are programs for the little ones, Karate for Kids (6 and older) and for preschool ages the new ATA Tigers program. Adults can train in the black belt or leadership programs as well. With anything, you get what you put in and if you put in the hard work and dedication, I know that Karate America can help you reach your goals. I'm very thankful that my daughter is part of such an awesome martial arts school!

Excellent training and extracurricular activities. Teachers lead and train hands on. All ages.read more

I had many questions, and Master Bill walked me through all of the steps, answers to my questions, and, of course, sage advice. We signed up for the trial, and it was great to learn the basics and get to know the structure and the people. During the trial, it was a great time for my daughter to get acclimated, focus on the routines, and the instructors were amazing! They took time and adjusted their teachings to the students and reinforced with practice it will come together. Each instructor was thoughtful, caring, and patient. Master Clarissa also helped guide me through signing up and talking through some of my daughter's unique needs. Amazing service! Our first beginners class today was wonderful. My daughter joined mid semester, and everyone has been so helpful, welcoming, and supportive! There are so many positives to PVMAA. From the application with easy access videos for practice to the scheduling, to purchasing gear, and overall, the owner and everyone there is so great at communicating and connecting. After my daughter earned her white belt on the way home, she said she was so proud of herself, and it really made her feel good about herself. Those are magic words to any parent. We shopped around, and this one for sure, hands down, was the winner. I would highly recommend it!
