History
Established in 1907.
In the spirit of God's inclusive love, we came together to worship, to learn, to find healing and forgiveness, to rejoice and to encourage gratitude and wonder in both our congregation and the community...
Organized to serve the influx of people moving from San Francisco to Berkeley after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, families from both San Francisco (St. John's Presbyterian Church) and Berkeley (First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley) began worshiping together. Our first home (now the Julia Morgan Theater) was completed in 1907. In 1955 St. John's bought the present property on College and Forest, completing the building in 1968, after a generous bequest from Dr. Howard Campbell; making its final mortgage payment in 1978.
Today we are a 150 member multi-generational gathering of believers, who seek to know and love God, as we pursue God's vision of peace and justice in our community and the world. We welcome your participation in worship, ministries, programs and mission.
