We went to the church's "Living Nativity" on Sun., Dec. 17, 2017, per a reccommendation from my co-worker. Plus the event was on my Facebook scroll. The event was very well organized by such nice people (parishioners). They all kept things moving, without being bossy. You basically check in (the event is free!) and then get a ticket w letter(s) on them. You then go into the sanctuary, watch an overview of the program and the opening 'Adam and Eve' act in a sweet short play scene with great backdrops. The young actors were no kidding, really GOOD! After that, you wait for your ticket letters to be shown on the movie screen then proceed to the lobby for further instruction. In the lobby, is a volunteer holding up your ticket letter(s). Listen up! Since the event brings sooo many people (I heard one parishioner say that they had 2,300 people the night prior!!!!), it takes a while to go to each station (95% of them are outside). But each station is only about 5 minutes max. Plan to dress warmly and spend about 1 1/2 hours total. Free hot chocolate and cookies when you are finished. Such a wonderful and sweet event (yes, I teared up a few times) to further get you into the miracle of Christ plus magic and beauty of the holiday season!

As someone who grew up going to church, I have visited and been a part of many churches over my…read morelife time. I can honestly say that this is one of the best, if not the best church I've ever been a part of. What you will probably notice first, after the nice building and friendly parking attendants, is that the people are incredibly warm and welcoming. This goes well beyond Sunday morning greeting times and into who they really are as people - the kind of people who check on you when you are down, serve and help in any way they can, invite you to be a part of fellowship outside of the church building, and genuinely care for you. Sunday morning services start at 10:00 am and usually end by about 11:30 or 11:45 at the latest. The kids stay in with their parents for the first part of the service (musical worship and announcements) and then there is a 7 minute break for children ages 1-5th grade go to Kid's Quest - the children's church program. Kids' Quest is well organized, monitored, planned, and overall the kind of place where I feel safe and happy to be leaving my children. All Kids' Quest volunteers have yearly background checks, and parents must have their child's identifying sticker to pick them up after service to ensure their safety is priority. The adult portion of the service (once the kids are in Kid's Quest) is about 45 minutes and is primarily the teaching time, which is always spot on and taught from the Bible. There is a team of 6 pastors (some full time, some part time) who may preach on any given Sunday. Outside of Sunday morning services, the best way to get to know people from the church is to be involved with a care group. These are smaller groups that meet in church members' homes, usually on a biweekly basis. There is also a group that meets for high schoolers and junior high students (Catalyst) and a group for young adult (Resolved). Each spring, the church hosts a program called Alpha that is designed for people who don't go to church to come and just ask questions. It includes a free dinner too! (There is more info about it on the website.) The best way to get to know this church is just to go check it out on a Sunday morning. Guests are always welcome. No invite is needed!

(10:00am - 8:00pm). The grounds are maintained by volunteers and donations. We had a great time today, the kids enjoyed it. Kayaking was fun (I like the island in the middle of the lake). Nice set-up all around. Everyone was chill, no riff-raff here. They have: - Spring-fed cedar lake. It is very clean, they test the water weekly. - Sandy beach (well groomed) - Lifeguards on duty - Beach volleyball court, horseshoe pits and basketball. - They have free canoes and kayaks (life vests included) - Picnic areas - Hiking trail (around a mile or so) - Gas grills - Adirondack style chairs and beach umbrellas - Many shady spots provided by the trees - Bathroom facility - Birthday parties are okay as long as the group doesn't exceed 20, 25 max. "Minors under the age of 16 may not be dropped off and must be accompanied by a responsible adult. CampFAC is not a daycare facility and will not be held responsible for the well-being of its guests. The use of ALCOHOL and TOBACCO is strictly prohibited. Foul language and lewd or reckless behavior will not be tolerated". They don't have a snack bar so feel free to pack a cooler and bring some grub. If you want, bring beach chairs, umbrellas and sand toys with you. Early bird gets the worm as far as picking your spot (tables/chairs, etc.).
