I can't believe it has taken me so long to write this review. The Galway Inn is a little piece of…read moreIreland in France. Considering Galway is a port city as is Lorient, the ambience both inside and out is mirrored. The fact that it is owned and operated by an Irishman gives this pub the authenticity that most lack. Cop a squat by the fireplace in one of the cozy nooks, or pull up a chair at the bar - that's always the best spot for craic anyway.
Coming in from the bone chilling rain of Bretagne to a cozy, soft lit environment filled with your favorite libations is sure to make anyone smile. Top that with an Irish Coffee powerful enough to fend off winter chills from Antarctica, one could spend many hours here. Although I would have happily taken another, 2 was perfect. The Guinness was alright. You can have it around the world and but only the best comes from Ireland. Fact. For those of ye's from the green isle they even have Tayto's! Yep, get some.
One feature I enjoyed about this pub, were the various areas of enjoyment. Be sure to check out the outdoor garden patio. Which really is a garden. Lush with Palms, Ficus, and Ivy plants, there may have even been fountain somewhere in there too. The glass board highlights the events and live music of the day. My friends who are locals had never even ventured outside. How is that possible? On most occasions they remain in the main room. I can't blame them it's comfortable! I think there is a second level as well - I will have to explore on my next visit. Then there's the game room, equipped with poker table and big screen T.V. Pints, poker, match. Boom! Definitely my new favorite pub in Lorient.
