Founded in 1966 by the Duke of Edinburgh, St George's House is located in the grounds of Windsor Castle and offers a unique service, hosting consultations where senior members of government, commerce, academia, charities and other societal institutions can discuss issues of common interest.
The consultations fall into three strands: those covering Social and Ethical issues; those for Clergy; and those arranged by external groups and organisations, in keeping with the ethos and practice of the organisation.
The accommodation, despite its setting, is comfortable but modest (bedrooms don't have phones or televisions, though there is WiFi) - very much in keeping with ethos of open, honest debate which the institution aims to foster. Catering is very good but similarly straightforward and, as one might expect, staff are discretely attentive and obliging.
Attendees may attend services at the adjacent St George's Chapel if they wish. read more
