This is a review not of a place of worship, but of the charity bins that rest in its' courtyard…read more I'm sure 98% of people that donate clothing to clothing bins do it in much the same way they buy the Big Issue or recycle the mountains of unnecessary packaging they purchase- to appease the consumer guilt that we all bear to some degree. Hence the odd socks, dirty knickers and other horrors I'm sure charity bin sorters endure on a daily basis. The bins at St Patricks prove my point. In any weather there is always mountains of crap piled up outside the bins, as if people think, "I went to this much effort to bring this stuff down here, buggered if I'm going to put it through the slot on that bin as WELL". The result is that there are often piles of wet, soggy clothes and toys rendered unsaleable piled up outside the bins when the bins are empty. I know they're empty because I often come by & shove things through the slot if it looks like rain. This has been a community service announcement.

This is a very modern and good looking church on the inside. Like many churches, extremes of…read moretemperatures test the comfort of the place. It was 40+ and the church was packed with hot radiating bodies today but the height of the ceiling and the many ceiling fans kept the air moving. There are two big screens on either side of the altar and these are positioned so that they can be seen by all in the congregation. The sound system works well too. If you don't really like paying attention to the service there is plenty on the walls to look at. My fascination today was that there was one of the stained glass windows put in upside down...or maybe that was on purpose to keep some of us entertained.

I have been attending Awesome Church since March 2020 and I thank God for leading me to this faith filled, bible believing non seeker friendly church that has assisted me to grow spiritually beyond human comprehension. The Senior Pastors Gary and Lissa and all the other pastors are great ambassadors of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am so blessed in this place and have introduced many others who are so happy and are blessed too. To all of those who try to criticise our church or pastors, I forgive you and ask you to attend church and be blessed too. God bless you all.

I came here to pray during my darkest days when I first arrived in Sydney so this parish will always have a special place in my heart. Daily Mass is usually 30-mins or less. There's 3 separate times Mon-Fri (730am, 1210pm and 530pm). If you're ever in need of a boost of faith, St. Peter Julian's doors are always open.. Except during closing hours ;)

Though it is a…read morechurch group there's no pressure to be a 'believer', in fact I don't think I ever had a religious conversation in the whole time I went there but if you have strong views against Christianity then be warned there are bible related songs and stories towards the end of the group. It's around $5 per child and for that they get heaps of toys to play with, outdoor equipment, craft and a seriously substantial morning tea, as well as tea and biscuits for the adults. The morning tea is catered for by the group individually and whilst there's no pressure to volunteer your services, I did after attending for a while, as you really get into the spirit of the co-operation that's so natural here. Families there are just lovely, very welcoming and not at all cliquey. It's perfect for babies and toddlers though pre-schoolers might be a bit bored unless there are other big kids around. It's a great place to meet people and there's a real mix of folk there: different nationalities, different income levels - a great big melting pot.

Checking off as many historical sites as I could while in Sydney…read more Sydney's first church, built in the early 1820's, was on the list. St James is located in an area full of history and beauty. Hyde park is across the street. St Mary's Cathedral and The Barracks are a block away. Town Hall and the Queen Victoria Building are four blocks away. St James' architectural style is Georgian and designed by convict architect Francis Greenway. Other tours would also give credit to other convicts for their contributions in building the city. The exterior is built of warm salmon-coloured sandstock bricks called samels. And started as a rectangular block building. The last 200 years has seen some additions and upgrades. Today the Anglican church still show off its simple charms. The coffered ceiling. The high arched alcoves framing the stained glass windows. The meticulous mosaic tile floor. And the creaky old wooden pews. St James has been in continuous use. It took two attempts to see the church. It isn't always open. And I couldn't find posted hours.

I've never set foot in this church, but I have partied like a bandit beneath it…read more Now, hold on, hold on. Avert your accusatory stares. Put away those stink-eyes, people. This was legit. There was a gig on in the crypt beneath the church (side note: how freaking sweet is it not only that there's a subterranean crypt, but that they open it up for gigs? Go clergy!) You stoop to go through this little tunnel and there's a long, kind of cramped sandstone hallway with a bunch of side passages running off it every 15 metres or so, it's super cool. The reverb was immense! And the bathrooms were a revelation, modern and spotless. I didn't want to leave. The bathrooms, or the crypt. If you ever get a chance to see a gig here (mine was Kirin J Callinan, btw) jump at it.

It is great to find a beautiful, well maintained catholic church; described as being in the…read morespiritual oasis of the city (it could be because this church is surrounded by so many other churches) and the variety of different service times available to suit the busiest of people; so yes there isn't really much of an excuse not to miss church; nor confession for that matter. I mean there are around twelve priests in total; and this is why this is a real full-time church; where it feels like there are services churning around on tap. It gets very busy here at easter more so than Christmas. Have been to their good Friday services with friends, and it is so emotional yet a great church service overall. What I particularly love about this church is not only the beautiful surroundings; but rather the short, sharp and to the point services with communion included. Church services normally go for an hour; yet here at St Patrick's (otherwise known as St Pat's) services normally only last around 20-30 minutes maximum. It is oh so peaceful to come here; pray, listen and relax. Their Tuesday lunchtime meditation sessions aren't too bad either.
