The charter service operates from a little past flood season in the spring until early October. We chartered them for a groom's dinner. The boat is both elegant and comfortable. It is nicely appointed but they don't allow stiletto heels or black soled shoes (it wrecks the decks) so you have a good excuse to kick off your shoes and relax. The cruise was a great alternative to renting a hall or private room in a restaurant and the price is comparable. We had about 25 in our party. It POURED for most of our cruise, but the boat has a large indoor lounge area and there was enough seating for everyone. Besides the captain, we had two really friendly, competent servers who kept us all dry and made sure the bar and buffet stayed well stocked. Food is all buffet style, catered by the Lake Elmo Inn (yum!) and ranges from appetizer trays to full meals. Meals range from lunch buffet ($15/person) to Captain's Choice ($38/person) with a minimum of 20 people. Drinks extra; they have a compact but full bar. Summer on the St. Croix is fleeting and fabulous--take advantage of this while you can!

There were three levels on the boat with great view from each! The bottom enclosed level was where we did our meal packing. The second enclosed level was air conditioned with plenty of seating, a cash bar and served a buffet style dinner that was very good! The third level was open air with plenty of seating and a great 80s themed band played hits as we cruised the St. Croix river . The staff were very courteous and our bartender was very nice! The whole cruise was roughly 3 hours and was such a great team building exercise for our team!

We called the Stillwater boat club and 1hour and 45 minutes later they arrived with a different pontoon boat. Now, I could name the young man who brought the pontoon boat down for us but I don't want to get too personal. I just want to say that we were told, by the fore mentioned young man, that there would be a discount on the fuel and the rental to make up for our time marooned. Here is what we received: An approximate discount on fuel of $10 and a promised $50 discount on the next $490 pontoon rental (gas included). Moral of the story: If you would like to give up 20% of your time on a pontoon and receive a credit for that loss of enjoyment of 10%, go to the Stillwater Boat Club and Rentals. -John C.

We booked the 45 minute ride and Valentino was very professional plus provided us with some live Italian singing! He provided some history of Stillwater and gondolas since we were new to the area. As much as the real Venice would have been an awesome honeymoon, I think this is as close as one can get in Minnesota. Giovanni took us for about a 45 minute ride around the St Croix while we dined on wine and cheese. He sang us a few songs and taught us some Stillwater history. It was neat to find out the gondola was actually shipped from Italy and that Giovanni has been giving rides for the last 17 years. He made sure we kissed under the bridge for good luck and gave us some great recommendations for other things to do in town. If you're looking for a romantic evening, make sure to check this place out!

I purchased tickets a day in advance just in case they filled up quickly. I purchased 2 adults and 1 child ticket. My son was so stoked to go on his first trolley ride (he's 6). We got a huge surprise when we pulled up to pick up our tickets and my son's local school bus driver (Terry) was going to be driving and giving us the tour today! Yay! What a treat! We got great seats on one of their brand new trolleys. Terry drove us around downtown Stillwater very carefully and we learned lots about this amazing lumber hub back in the day. We also got to drive by some historic and beautiful houses in Stillwater (north and south hills) with amazing views. We had a blast and I would highly recommend this as a great tour if you want to learn about the birthplace of Minnesota and take a break from walking Main Street. They also have some seasonal and other trolley offerings like princess story time or another seasonal spooky tour in October. Check it out!

My husband and I usually handle all of our own travel planning, but when we came across Knowmad while researching how to visit Machu Picchu we realized we would probably get a lot more out of a trip to Peru traveling with specialists from the country. The restaurants and hotels Knowmad arranged for us were excellent, and our picnic in the Sacred Valley and Pachamanca experience were unbelievable.
