The radiology department on 2/3/2026 treated me with empathy and compassion. I was nervous about my procedure. Cindy in the radiology department does the best blood work and cares not to leave black and blue marks on your arm. I also am on a blood thinner and she took that into consideration as well as opposed to other places. She kept me comfortable and warm and her charismatic personality helps calm your nerves. I had her once before but I didn't take the time to research how to do a great review for her. The survey sent from SteerHealth services stinks. It only rates with a thumbs up or down. I was seen by Dr. Jody Rogers, Lela, and nurse Jon who were all very helpful. They were able to address my medical issues promptly and were super compassionate along the way. read more

I had a medical emergency a while back and instead of ignoring the symptoms, my wife insisted we visit the emergency room. While my wife parked the car, I described what I was experiencing to the person at the desk. Almost immediately, an army of medical people had me on a gurney, connected to vital monitoring equipment and in the ER in maybe a minute. Amazing. A specialist was on call, he read my test data and I was operated on within less than an hour.... The doctor said that without the medical intervention, that would have been my last day... I post op, and then the ICU I received professional care, friendly support, and a spotlessly clean environment. The only negative was the hospital food. As a Yelp reviewer, I was disappointed. My wife brought home cooked food since I can be a big grouch about blah food. Anyway, the medical care was, for me, absolutely life saving. Post op, I went on a rehab program and it was responsible for me to be fully recovered. Tanks to these folks, I'm alive and as healthy as I have ever been. read more

Took my adult son to the emergency room at 2pm, due to a psychotic episode, due to stress, anxiety and being on the autism spectrum. They took us in right away and had us wait in a room in the emergency room. We sat there from 2pm -8pm, at 8pm they told us they could not get any of the psychiatric staff who are all located in Denville to come to Dover General until the next day and sent us home. This is unacceptable. The staff could not have been more professional and nice. But the fact this was out of there control, they should have sent us to Denville when we arrived at 2pm. We waited for 6 hours!!!!! This is unacceptable to call yourself an Emergency room when you don't provide care to your patients. This is NOT the first time we have had a horrible experience here. Don't go here. The billing department is horrible (horrible customer service and horrible follow up). I had my baby August 2021 and guess what - I just received in the mail, my first bill. I called the billing department and she has no idea why we didn't receive a bill sooner. This is the second time Stain Clare's billing team has done this to me. Could I give NO stars?! I am from New York and I am in Dover most weekends because my partner lives out here with his family. I went to St. Clare's Hospital - Dover because I have advanced stage 4 endometriosis, an 8.7 cm endometrioma on my left ovary and hydronephrosis of the left kidney because the endometrioma is compressing on my left ureter -- it's all very painful! I have surgery scheduled for Monday, 8/12 and there isn't much anyone can do for me except for pain management -- I have a script for morphine and oxycodone, but they have stopped work and beginning tomorrow (8/3), I cannot take anymore NSAIDS in preparation for my surgery. So, I went to St. Clare's Hospital - Dover yesterday (8/1) and they gave me morphine and Toradol intramuscularly and it took forever to work and it wore off quickly. This morning I woke up with a full bladder and feeling extreme pain even after I emptied my bladder and took ibuprofen 800 mg + oxycodone so I went back to the ER. When the nurse called me, she already asked me why I'm in Dover, NJ when I'm from NY and I told her my partner lives here. She said it's suspicious for me to come into the ER like this when I live in NY. When I got my bed, the doctor immediately said he doesn't prescribe oxycodone and that he can give me Toradol -- which I said fine. I'm not looking for a new prescription, I just need to be treated for breakthrough pain right now. The nurse comes back and I ask if it's possible to be administered the Toradol via IV and he asked and the doctor said no, and that intramuscular is no different -- which is UNTRUE so they administered it again intramuscularly. Shortly after that, the doctor came into my room and asked if I got the Toradol and I said yes and his response was, "okay, I'll work on your discharge and you need to coordinate with your surgeon." He didn't ask me what my pain level was or anything or if the medicine worked. I asked to speak to the Patient Care Manager, and they sent the supervising nurse who came and said it was suspicious for me to get treated in NJ and that she had back pain for 6 months before she received pain medication. I told her that they did not bother to do any scans to check if there were any other issues that may be causing me pain and they're already discharging me. I said, I told you that I came yesterday and intramuscular took a long time to work and wore off quickly and I preferred if I can get it via IV and the doctor said no and I don't understand why if it's not a narcotic/opioid and they agreed to give it to me already, I'm just asking for it to be administered via IV vs. IM. She said they are very vigilant about opioid addiction and that me traveling from NY to NJ to go to the ER is suspicious and that it's the doctor's prerogative and that no doctor would prescribe me any opioids. Once again, I WAS NOT ASKING FOR an Rx, I was asking for the NSAID to be administered via IV -- WTF is the problem? Additionally, how do you even know anything if you're not doing any tests to confirm anything? She said she can see it in my chart - I have only been to this hospital twice -- 3/10 and my cyst was only 5.6 cm at that time when they did the ultrasound and yesterday (8/1) which they did not do an ultrasound. So my point was, I tell you I have pain and these are the reasons I am feeling pain and you believe my pain based on what I told you, but I tell you that IV administration works better for me and you don't believe me?! This is some bullshit! No wonder they only have 1.5 stars on their reviews! Whenever I've gone to the ER in NY, they administer pain meds via IV and they check on my periodically and ask me to rate my pain from 1-10 and make sure that my pain is manageable before they discharge me and they have me do ultrasound and CTs to confirm what is actually giving me pain even if I just had a ultrasound done a few days ago to confirm what I'm telling them. Dover, however is so concerned about med seekers, that they won't even treat my pain and basically told me they don't want to be bothered. This is not the level of care anyone should expect -- I don't even drink or smoke! I have legitimate pain, they even called my doctor who confirmed that I have endometriosis and that I'm having surgery on 8/12 and still they basically said they didn't want to deal with me and that I should deal with my pain via pain management -- except the pain I'm having is happening NOW and I'm telling you that oral meds do NOT always work for me! I searched for a contact to lodge a complaint and there is a number listed to a voicemail (I did leave a message), my partner called the central # and asked to be connected to someone to speak about their disrespectful attitude and they sent him to the same voice mail box and said there is no other person to reach. You cannot find a direct # or email anywhere on their site! DO BETTER, ST. CLARE'S HOSPITAL - DOVER! If you are suffering, DO NOT go HERE! read more

My wife fainted at home due to intermittent fasting and donating blood earlier in the day. We called 911, and even though she was alert and felt ok prior to the ambulance arriving, they convinced her to go to the ER just to be checked out. She arrived at the ER in the afternoon with perfect vitals. After conducting numerous tests they said they were keeping her overnight for observation, and a cardiologist would clear her in the morning. They said there were no beds available (we later learned this was due to a shortage of nurses there) so she would be staying in the ER overnight. She was given a sandwich consisting of dry turkey and white bread for dinner. Patients on either side of the curtains were loudly vomiting, screaming and yelling all night- she was not able to het any sleep. The cardiologist arrived in the morning, said everything looked great and cleared her. After several more hours of waiting she was told that even though everything looked good, she also had to be cleared by a neurologist, who usually arrived at the hospital at 5 pm. Both lunch and dinner consisted of a small piece of smelly, inedible fish and stale veggies. Still waiting at 9 pm, a nurse had good news: a room upstairs was finally available for her (having now spent 30 hours on an ER stretcher- she was never even transferred to a hospital bed). We asked about the neurologist clearing her to go home and were told that he never showed up but "should" be at the hospital tomorrow. She requested to sign herself out and was grimly told by the ER doctor that leaving could risk a medical emergency "or even death." We were unceremoniously shown the door and were given no paperwork or documents concerning the treatment she received. I guess this is what happens when you stop participating in their insurance fraud scheme. Even though it's the closest hospital for us, we will never go there again! read more

This hospital is disgusting in every sense and the absolute worst. At this moment, they've put a security guard in the room in an attempt to bully and taunt us. If you actually care about yourself or your loved one's wellbeing, DO NOT COME TO ST. CLARE'S HOSPITAL!! Front desk staff to the so-called medical professionals have been nothing but abhorrent and rude since the day our loved one suffered her stroke. Our mother has been left in her own filth for DAYS, not repositioned for hours, case manager keeps pressuring us to move her to hospice care only 3 DAYS after admission. The doctor wanted to observe her for at least a week, but only after 3 days we have been pressured hourly to sign documents to transfer her to hospice care. What happened to trying to save her life??? This place is basically forcing her to her death for their convenience. The staff spends more time switching-up regulations, and trying to kick family out of the room, then actually taking care of their patient. Family members have been the ones to clean her, reposition and massage her, and exercise her. If we're lucky, they'll drain her catheter once in 24 hours. Her room has not been cleaned since her admission and smells so strongly of urine. I've taken it upon myself to clean and disinfect the room as housecleaning has not come in once in the 5 days we've been here. St. Clare's Hospital in Dover needs to be shut down. Find care elsewhere, because you'll receive anything but care or compassion at this cesspool. The moment you advocate for yourself/loved one they will likely retaliate. read more

My mother just suffered a major stroke, and rather than receiving the care and compassion she needed, the staff here have been nothing but neglectful, presumptuous, and incredibly unkind since her arrival 5 days ago. The entire experience has been traumatic for my mother and our entire family. - Front desk staff is condescending and rude. Specifically, Jason Romero who speaks down to anxious family members. No compassion or sympathy when we notified him that our mother is actively dying. - my mother was never repositioned or cleaned while I was with her, and I would be there for the entirety of visitation hours. She was laying in her filth for who knows how long. Had I not noticed, the nurses would have never done anything about it. - we requested that one person stay the evening with my mother as she does not speak English, and they said "No. There's people here that speak Spanish". ...my mother is not Hispanic, she's Filipino!!! She doesn't speak Spanish! We explained this to the security and nurses and they just looked at each other and shrugged. - Linda VanDuyne, our "case manager", provided us with contradictory information from what the doctor advised. We also asked why mom couldn't stay in her current room and she says "What for???? She's not going to get better." Are you kidding me? What kind of medical professional says that? Doctor wanted to observe my mothers condition for a week, yet Linda insisted that we sign consent documents to move her to hospice after just 3 days! No care for her life or letting family come to terms with what's happening. It seems like she just wanted mom to quickly die so she can move on with her paperwork. - Because my mother is actively dying, the doctor waived the 2-person rule and permitted several family members to be in the room. Every day it was a fight to be by my mothers side. The miscommunication on their end caused my family an absurd amount of emotional stress that we did not need on top of grieving. One day we're okay to stay, the next they call security to bully us out of the room! Only after speaking with a director did the nurses start checking-in regularly. It's a shame that it had to come to us making a complaint days later that proper care is received. I do NOT recommend St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, and I strongly urge anyone reading this to take themselves and/or their loved ones elsewhere. read more

This hospital sends misinformation to Northwest Radiology for alleged imaging spaced minutes apart - four images in an hour - images with CONTRAST. Fraud all around and NORTHWEST uses their inept attorneys out of Denville to bully people into paying. Went to Dover ER after a week of treating myself at home. After a week of immense pain; I drove myself to the ER. I was dismissed..was not even seen by a Dr sent home with a liquid to drink which did not work. The pain and the issue is worse. This past weekend I needed to use the Dover emergency room. One nurse and the Dr. on duty were helpful and provided the information and care I needed to address the reason for my visit. The issue I had was the lack of professionalism of a second nurse who assisted in my care. This nurse questioned the height I gave by saying you cannot be that height and you do shrink as you age. She also questioned why I have two cell phones asking if I ran drugs. This same nurse set me up for a ECG and neglected to remove the pads after the test. I left messages for both Guess Services and the ER nursing supervisor to express my concerns but neither returned my request for a return call. So, yes I would use Saint Clare's ER again but would see I was taken to the Denville ER with the hopes this negligent nurse was not assisting at this ER. read more

Great hospital for emergencies!! Doctors & nurses were very efficient & friendly! Only complaint was nurses were VERY loud in laughing & talking right near curtain, so couldn't really rest. Never had to wait past 4 times my family members & myself have visited. Definitely blows Morristown Memorial away. After making an out of state trip for my niece's wedding, I developed a very painful urinary obstruction that prevented me from attending thr wedding and would require a trip to the ER at 1 am. Everyone at St. Claires's were especially professional and attentive from registration through my care and diagnosis. A special thank you to my RN, Fatima. I experienced several medical procedures in my lifetime, but never a catheter. She talked and reassured me through the whole process and made it so much easier than I expected. My wife and I take our hats off to her and all the medical professionals who looked over me that early morning, and ultimately made the rest of my stay in the area and journey home later that day much more tolerable. If I could give negative -5 stars I would. This is by far THE WORST hospital I've ever encountered and as a travel nurse that says a lot! Let's start with the receptionist, the first person you encounter upon entering the hospital. He is VERY rude, unprofessional and boisterous, he caused a scene in the main lobby all over a simple question pertaining to the visitation process. They don't allow overnight visitors, my relative DOES NOT speak English and when told this the response was "We have a Spanish translator", we're not Hispanic... The first case worker tried to rush my family in signing a document that wasn't discussed fully, leading to a huge debacle in the care of my relative. She doesn't get changed or repositioned when she should, my family cleans and repositions her. Smh the story goes on, I just want to warn the public of the unprofessionalism, lack of care, lack of empathy and sympathy this facility has shown just within 4 days of my relatives stay. I went to St Claires on Sept 21, 2020 for a COVID test that was required prior to a procedure I was having on the 24th of Sept. Although everyone was very pleasant, I was very disappointed when called into the lab for my test. The tech came into the waiting room, called me by my full name and said in front of the whole room what I was there for. I believe this is a huge HIPAA violation! I have worked in the medical field for many years and know that this is NOT proper procedure. I have contacted the hospital and am waiting for a response. I usually don't do this type of review, but after seeing all the reactions of the other patients waiting, I was pretty upset! read more

I visited this establishment late Friday night, with severe pain and pelvic region. I was treated quickly, only needing to provide a urine sample. Friday(4/21) I was diagnosed with a UTI, by "Dr." Pamela Trumbull. Friday passed and the pain was getting worse. Saturday I thought it was just complications from UTI, so I tried to wait things out and see if I could make it to Monday to see my primary care Physician. Sunday(4/23) I was at work all day. Feeling like I was being stabbed from inside out and, because of the Misdiagnosis, I was thinking it was just part of the UTI. I was unable to drive myself home, had to arrange for a ride. I'd gotten home and called my insurance company to speak with nurses they provide us to talk to and over the phone the nurse advised me to go be seen within the hour. I wasn't able to sit, stand, walk, breathe, talk or soothe the pain in any possible way. I had to call out of work for today, Monday(4/24) because I'd been vomiting from the pain. Upon arriving Sunday evening, I was taken in and seen within 20 minutes. Immediately the Doctor told me he didn't suspect it was only a UTI. He asked if they'd run any tests on Friday, and seemed astonished they didn't even take any blood. The Doctor, Dr. Joseph LoFaro, was very through in telling me what we were going to do, and why. The requested a Ctscan and within the hour I was told that it indeed was not a UTI, but instead Kidney Stones. The only reason I am giving this establishment 3 stars is for how welcoming and kind the second team seeing me was. If I'd just seen them in the first place I would have given 5 stars but the team that saw me on Friday night leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And in all honesty due to the first team I will probably be requesting to be released or transferred if I ever see Dr. Trumbull again, not due to lack of skill, because I'm sure she could be a great Dr, but for lack of effort and or care. read more

This is the second time to the ER and on both occasions we didn't ever see a doctor, only a physician assistant. The staff is rude and dismissive, especially of older patients. I am very disappointed to be waiting forever to have my blood drawn. I was told to come for Pre-Admission Testing at 7am and was told to fast prior to it. Everyone up to this point was efficient from the registration to the nurse who took all my medical info. Signing in at the lab took more than 40 mins. The sign in person at the lab left the window unattended and was in her cell phone taking in a foreign language. This hospital desires a -5. This doesn't even deserve the star that I'm forced to give. It took 2 days to get my son admitted which is ridiculous. This is the stupid insurance companies and hospital trying to get the paperwork straightened out. And yes I have very good insurance. Finally I took control and contacted my insurance company myself for this to be done. Not even 30 minutes later it was done. Of course I threatened to keep calling the insurance company back until it was done. Why do you have to be this way to get something done I will never understand. Also The stupid nurses there would've been perfectly fine for parents to just wait around in uncomfortable chairs. Did I mention no cell phones allowed, not even for reading. I couldn't even read the book I had saved in my phone. Since I was a father I couldn't leave the area either or just come back. you're just stuck there waiting for people to do their job. Next time maybe I can ask if I could do their job for them to help move things along. A word of advice don't get sick and if you do be prepared to wait until you're old and gray and maybe no teeth. The hospital is clean and tidy and the staff are nice and helpful. The checkin process was quick and I was admitted with little effort. I did not have to wait hours like at a bigger ER. The cleaning and cooking staff are especially nice and the food was delicious. The night nurses (on floor 2) are great. The hospital itself is making a huge effort to "re-invent" themselves and I can see that. They still have a few bad apples (I had one terrible day nurse), but they are trying. It's a small place, so you don't feel lost yet you still feel like the medical staff know what they are doing. They seriously need to get better bedding supplies though. They were out of pillows and the sheets were ripped. This is unacceptable. read more

Should be in the negatives if I could! The ER and ICU staff at this hospital is quite simply put: rude! Even my husband who never says a bad word about anyone was disgusted with their behavior. Nurse assistants who don't have time to make an 86-year old patient feel comfortable or assist in having him use a urinal over the side of the bed; nurses talking about visitors behind their back but in a very obvious manner; staff that doesn't introduce themselves or care to use/learn the patients name. Disgusting, disgusting! There was only one RN in the ER dept that actually got into nursing to help people, and she was an on-charge nurse who was covering for the main nurse while she took lunch; went above and beyond. ICU should also work on their people skills when dealing with family members of individuals with serious health issues. Upon arriving in the ICU, I was basically kicked out while dropping my dad's bags of clothes off escorting him from the ER. Not hi! I'm your father's nurse, would you mind stepping out while we get him settled? That would be too much for them to utter. Totally rude! Oh and the kicker! When I call back to check on him, the nurse states: "Are you the young lady who I kicked out earlier this evening?" Awkwardly, "yes, that's me." "Let me give you a code for when you call back because if I didn't know you were the woman I kicked out earlier, I would ask for it, too." Like who talks like that? I had every right to curse him out, but let it go since my dad is under his care; insensitive jerk! For context, my dad is an 86-year old who has stage 4 kidney cancer in his lung, has one kidney, has had prostate cancer, eyelid/skin cancer, has diabetes, etc. and was admitted for a potential heart attack/inflamed heart. Like I'm his daughter! Have a little compassion. If not for me, certainly for him. At his age, the worst thing is being admitted to a hospital; you don't think you are going to come out. Some people should really just not be nurses, etc. - in it for the wrong reasons. The majority at Dover certainly didn't get involved in healthcare to help people, and if they did they lost their humanity along the way. If coronavirus hits this hospital, they will be ill-prepared to handle patient care - and certainly not prepared to do it in a respectful manner. Get it together! read more

I am a single 55yo male and called an ambulance on myself because I was experiencing pain in my right foot. I live in Morris Cty and told the ambulance people I wanted to go to Morristown Hospital but said because of my pain and rush hour they were taking me to Dover, St. Clares, what a mistake! I was brought in and they wouldn't do anything till I filled out all the paperwork and I was in extreme pain...level 10+ from 1-10 They then examined me, a PA and said it was a possible fracture, sprain but I told them it wasn't, I hadn't fallen or done anything to it. It just started the night before and then go worse during the day and swollen. Not the ankle, just the upper top and bottom of foot,. They took X-ray and said it was a sprain and just were going to give me Motrin for pain and I could leave. I told them I was still in pain even after being given 1 percocet over an hour ago.I went from a 10+ to maybe 7 then back to 10. I asked if they could take a blood test or something more as I was swollen and seemed more like an infection but they said NO, just take anti inflammatory and go home. I did, had to got a ride and then on Sunday it was worse and got taken to another hospital closer to friends/family(Princeton) ER I was there less than 15 minutes, brought in and diagnosis was Cellulitis of the foot, extreme infection and given intravenous IV antibiotic and pain medicine and ended up being admitted for 3 days. They said had I not come in and gotten immediate care the infection could have gone through by entire body. It had gotten to my right arm and am still under out patient-treatment 11 days now. I can't walk yet and got a recheck yesterday and my PCP said it would still be a few more days. If it had been caught early, that Friday I would have been fine by now but it only got worse without any treatment, antibiotic's. St. Clares didn't seem to care about me or take anytime to further investigate my condition. I had asked about Gout, infection etc and insisted it wasn't a sprain but they just pushed me through and out but made sure they got my insurance info first so they would be paid. I would never go to St. Clares again no matter what I was told....I would rather go to a Urgent Care or somewhere...... Since my visit and telling my story I have now hear many other stories from friends and alike about the same.....Don't go there, its your choice and your health, not worth it at all read more

Terrible place.... the charity care woman is horrible and then I get a phone call saying I need to wait another 3 months for charity care... disgusting ! My income is barely nothing and they try to tell me to apply for Medicaid haha thru just don't want to pay.... absolutely horrible place don't go here or to st Claires in general ! read more

Went in at scheduled time for SI joint procedure. The registration staff was on time and most pleasant. Went upstairs for same day surgery and the staff was awesome to not only me but my wife and daughter who was with me. Made sure I knew what was going on and made sure I was comfortable. It was just a very good experience considering the amount of pain I was in. Would refer this hospital anytime. Would like to thank the staff again for their hard work. read more

I had gone there for two emergencies one hit my head on ice . They told me nothing was wrong and was back the next day with very bad headaches . Changed medication and Had to follow up with my doctor .Come to find out had a crushed disk in my neck pinching my spinal cord.Had surgery or the neurosurgeon I went ot said I would be paralyzed if I didnt read more
