Founded in 1812 by the Methodist Conference for the education of the sons of ministers, The Grove now welcomes pupils and staff of all denominations and none. It is a school that values it roots and traditions but it is constantly changing to meet the demands of modern education. In recent years the school has grown (now 700 in the senior school from age 11) but it is still small enough for all pupils to be known well and to make their mark. Academically this school has a great reputation with glowing OFSTED reports and strong A-Level and GCSE results. The school gives pupils tremendous scope to explore all areas of academic life as well as to try out a wide range of sporting & musical activities. It has some amazing modern sports facilities which are admired in the area. Their indoor training facilities are even used by the Bradford Bulls (who are a super league rugby league team). The school has a great sporting record in both Rugby and Cricket & in Netball and Tennis amongst many other sports. On the arts side they have recently had a new theatre and a new music department built to house some wonderful facilities. The school has a very lively Arts community with a wide range of musical, theatrical and art activities running throughout the year. I personally benefited greatly from the excellent music tuition I received at the school. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to anyone in the area looking for a private Day school, but also for anyone looking for a good boarding school as the school has excellent boarding facilities for both girls and boys. It was wonderful to live in such a friendly and supportive community and when you leave the school that continues through the Old Grovians association which is run enthusiastically by a committee of past pupils (old grovians). The school environment is wonderful with a woodland area, lots of green spaces with flowers and plants, climbing frames and imaginative play areas. I have two children at this school both have excelled my expectations gaining greater depth in subjects and are pushed to achieve rather than left to coast along. The classes my children are in have been incredibly friendly. my daughter was a quiet shy girl when she first started and now she has many many friends and has become an outgoing and friendly 7 year old. This has been supported by the teaching staff who seek to support children with their peer relationships and encourage children to work together and problem solve in groups in class. The after school opportunities are vast and impressive from sporting, arts, gardening, science, crafting, forest school club and also they have their own after and before school club for wrap around care. I would always encourage anyone who asks to go and take a look around and see for themselves what a wonderful school this is.

I spent my…read morewhole secondary school years here and to be honest, despite it being frail and old I really enjoyed my time here. The school is an all boys Roman Catholic secondary school and has a great reputation in Bradford. There are boys from ages 11 to 18 here and around 1200 students attend the school. It's in a small village not far from Bradford city centre. The standard of education here has always been very high and remains so to this day. There's talk of the school merging with the girls catholic school located just down the road, hence the new buildings popping up around the school. The teachers on the whole were pretty good there. It's a real top place to go to school!

I started attending Infest Festival in 2007, before the halls and the union were "done up". It's always been a great space for events as the space for live music is large enough to big crowds and there are several bars and different areas (if you don't fancy being crushed down the front of the stage). In my opinion, since it has been changed (2009/2010) this space is even better for a event. The "arena" area has a generous staging area and a bar at the side, the "upstairs" area has another bar, seating areas and plentiful toilet facilities (including unisex loo's) and the sports bar has lots of areas to sit down and a well-stocked bar. The bar is very reasonably priced! I don't go in term time, but during the festival this year 2 pints of Cider was £5.60 (which is great for a festival). There is also a second bar/dancefloor area towards the rear of the venue called "The Escape bar". I imagine this is used for smaller events or a secondary room during student nights. Again, this has a generous amount of seating and a reasonably sized bar. The halls have been changed into a town house layout for "The Green" (although the traditional "Arkwright Halls" are still standing at the moment). The houses in The Green are broken into groups of 3 and are named (to aid you find your house for the duration). Each house has 12 bedrooms (mostly equipped with a bed which is bigger than a single, but not quite a double), 2 toilets for each bedroom floor and a large kitchen and living area (with another ground floor toilet). The accommodation is very modern and is equipped with a microwave, hobs, sinks and several large fridge freezers to store your consumables. Each house has a small outdoor area to the back, which is great for socialising. You can also access the other houses in the blocks garden, so you can have a LOT of people outside at one time without getting under each others feet. The level of soundproofing has significantly improved since the new halls were built. People can be sitting in the downstairs area having a natter and it's still nice and quiet on the above floors. Now, as previously stated; I am no longer a student... But if I was, I would have been fairly happy to have been placed in the halls.

One of the big concerns (which was never mentioned to me) was the huge distance between the main campus and the school of management campus. We have class at both campuses, which costs one pound one way and another pound back. It is quite inconvenient as there is only one bus per hour. In respect to the school itself- there is a lack of 'brand' in the Bradford name. I have heard that the School of Management is very good here, however, not many people have heard of this university overseas. I think that the staff are friendly- a lot of the tutors offer office hours and you can always email them to ask them questions (which they reply fairly quickly).
