My mother is allergic to MSG and thank God I noticed the chips weren't plain chips - my mother could have gone into anaphylaxis shock. We were all so upset, we didn't eat any of it.

From the outside, it looks quite grand with its Victorian-esque building. And when you go inside, the character of the pub hits you. It feels quite cosy with booths either side of the door, and a range of seating levels on different levels. There are sofas at the far end, with televisions either side of the main room! The bar is long, and traditional in its appearance and traditional in the sense that it sells what all other Wetherspoon pubs in Scotland sell! However, on one wall it has a list of ales and also a collection of beer mats! (For me as a beer mat collector, this was highly interesting!). Go on give it a try!

This is a little quiet and quaint pub by week but a busy bustling high street pub by the weekends…read more It has a lot going for it whether you want to enjoy a quiet pint through the week or catch a football game on their big Plasma TV`s, or perhaps you are looking for a busy atmospheric drinking place to take in some good music and mingle with good crowds at the weekends. whatever you are looking for in a pub the Penny farthing on Kirkcaldy`s high street ahs it in abundance. Unlike most high street pubs the Penny farthing does not use its location to hike it`s prices up and keeps them not at the inexpensive but at a decent mid range. The penny farthing has a very good staff who will serve you with a smile as well as stopping for a chat even when the pub is very busy they always find the time to smile or chat, probably because unlike many of the pubs close by they actually employ enough staff! A real pub with a great atmosphere and it also has its own enclosed smoking area out the back with very nice and comfortable seating, tables and heating for those chilly Kirkcaldy nights.
