It was very clean inside and quiet and I was able to find the book I was looking for very quickly. The staff is very nice and helpful. It's a very small collection but it's part of the Saint Clair County library system, so any library book in the county can be placed on hold and obtained from this branch within about 24 hours. If you live in the north part of the county, this is a nice little spot to visit to feed your reading habit!

It was unexpected that I had a phenomenal private tour of the lighthouse by the Lighthouse Keeper…read more The keeper was personable, passionate about her work, friendly, and patience with all the questions I had. We started the tour with an explanation of the lightbulbs; usage, changes, etc. Then we talked about the different Lighthouse Keepers - their histories and experiences. We then visited different houses to see how life was to be a Lighthouse Keeper. I enjoyed the Lighthouse Keeper's house the best. I was able to touch things, see old appliances and got to see all the rooms in the house. Lastly, it was the tour of the lighthouse. I wasn't going to walk the narrow spiral staircase but the Keeper insisted that I can take my time walking (I use a cane to walk) up. When we reached the top, fog was rolling in. However, I still had beautiful views. I was able to walk around the top and the walk gave me a sense what life was like for the Lighthouse Keeper. This is an experience I won't forget to actually be at the top of the lighthouse.

What a bunch of a-holes. I came through with a camera in my backpack. The customs a-holes told me…read moreto come inside and leave my car unlocked. They didn't f-ing tell me they were going to open my film camera and expose the film. If I'd known they were going to be such richards, I would have stayed with my car. Inside, they were really unpleasant. They couldn't understand why my car was empty, despite me repeatedly telling them I had dropped boxes of audio tapes at a lab in Toronto. They delighted in being unpleasant.

Crossing the border between the United States and Canada has been a common occurrence for many of…read moreus throughout our lives. Those who live in the region often choose to cross at Detroit-Windsor or Port Huron-Sarnia, with a couple ferry crossings available in-between. While pedestrian crossings were available years ago, tightened security has pretty much eliminated pedestrian travel on bridges. Generally, the Customs and Border Patrol officers are a good bunch of people, dedicated to protecting the citizens of the U.S. from all sorts of potential harm. They try to make the border crossing process as seamless and pleasant as possible. I have crossed the border so many times at this location that only the federal governments of the two respective countries have an accurate count. Even after waiting in long lines to cross the border, and with the inherent slow computer systems purchased under the 'lowest bidder' terms, the border crossings themselves are usually easy transactions. The other night proved to be one of the more unpleasant border events. Without going into the details, let's just say there was an operational breach of security that occurred. A foreign national made a mistake. One of the CBP officers on duty noticed the breach, and decided to take corrective action. Unfortunately, as an innocent bystander, I got pulled into the whole mess and more unfortunately, this particular officer displayed a lack of professionalism in resolving the matter. Too bad, because his poor manners and lack of respect for those around him reflect poorly on the whole operation. And of course, since he is a federal agent, he can get away with it because he has nobody to answer to, least of all a common citizen of the United States. "One bad apple ..... " Out of the 5 Customs agents I encountered that night, 4 of them displayed courtesy and professionalism during the clearance process. For that, this review will display a 4 out of 5 stars rating. Thank you to those 4 for a job well done. And to the one bad apple - A good officer does not bring his personal problems to the job. I'm sure our paths have crossed before and I suspect they will cross again. I hope our interactions will be more positive next time.
